He's teaching them how to fish instead of leaving fish on the bank in case someone walks by. He's giving away info that could help people get out of a financial tight spot. He does this at no cost to the viewer. He's literally creating his own competition, willingly. How is this wrong? It's not. It's truly not.
I like the way you positioned your camera on the cart so we could watch you interacting with the merchandise. Most resellers use only one hand when filming. I also like that you took the time to bring the item up close to the camera while you explained the features to us. Great content, I hope you make more videos like this. Thank you!
Their clothes aren’t however. I can attest to this personally. They all sell for a flat rate depending on the day it may be super cheap. Especially the slacks. If you have a job that requires dress pants the local goodwill is your hookup destination. My recent haul of Brooks Brothers would have cost me probably $600 brand new. Four pairs of wool slacks cost me $40.
Yeah Goodwill here in 🇨🇦 is actually really expensive. Doesn't matter if it's a couch, t-shirt or pair of brand name jeans such as Levi's. They used to be fair with their prices but not anymore. Going to the Salvation Army or Bible for missions store is the only affordable way to go. I have snatched up a few deals on shoe's in the past at GW. Otherwise you can get brand new Levi's jeans from Walmart for the same price & type (example 501) so why buy used from Goodwill. 🤷♀️ The other place I enjoy shopping is at the Habitat for Humanity store, they have pretty much everything now including pet food and so forth.
It's been one year Pete and I don't think you will be judged on this anymore,at first I had a problem with it,I don't anymore, Bless you and I love you in Christ Peter!
The Goodwills in Vegas are still very very good. So many old people dying there and their estates go to Goodwill (Goodwill has trucks to pick stuff up and families just opt to have Goodwill grab everything). Sells for ridiculous prices. Pete could actually make way more money flipping basic stuff, but he seems to scope out legitimate collector items, which is cool.
You are teaching the tricks of the trade. That is some great insight on how to find extra stock for your store. That never crossed my mind about going to a Goodwill store. It may look easy but you still gotta do the work ! Great video Pete!
Goodwill stores here in the UK are called charity shops, you can’t find a bargain in charity shops they do their research and charge top money for everything.
Awesome finds Pete I always think that Good Will is so over priced on their things and they definitely throw a lot of things that are donated away. Hope that you will get all that you want out of these finds. Great job!
I think a lot of folks miss the point here. As far as I understand, the prices in stores like GW are higher now because so many NOT POOR people shop there...for "bargains" so they jack their stuff up so they make as much as feasible so they can do their charity bit. Periodically near me, all the GW stores will have give away days...for like 2 dollars a bag. so, it is not so cut and dry as everyone things. We had a protest that would directly benefit the poor in my state and Good Will stepped up and provided several hundred dollars worth of coats, dropped off food a couple times, and gave us tents and bedding for the winter sit ins. While they are fairly Christian, this is one of the instances that a Christian organization has stepped up.
Not in Illinois. Restaurants and bars closed down again and I am betting there will be another total lockdown soon. Governor Tons Of Fun is drunk with power.
Goodwill gets items free, sell them at bargain prices, underpays their workers. Minimum percentage goes to charity but their CEO’s are paid massive bonuses. Not only do they get government backed finance as they are classed as charity therefore I don’t think they pay taxes because they are classed as charity. Maybe there is big money to be made in opening a thrift store!
Here in guam. Some small korean mom and pop stores use those kinds coin operated telephones , for customers, the one where , when someone answers u have to push a button then it takes the quarter, an makes a neat sound, if no answer , no charge. Pretty neat.
Pete if your phone is mint you should be much higher than the comps, check those comps condition that is probably why they got those prices for their phone also don't forget to check the blanket section for those bolo ones Matt talks about them on his channel. Thanks for the content and for doing a thrift sourcing video it's been a while, miss seeing ur hunt but do understand that the thrift stores are getting greedy and overcharging for used items in most cases. I have been selling off and on in ebay for the last 2 years, but have recently been getting more serious about it and setting up a tracking system , especially after xmas, finding a lot of open box items.. that's all I really buy.. calculators and a few other out of box items... I don't know stuffed animals or clothes or out of box electronics, I have a decent eye for vintage stuff when I see it, but I'm learning to stick with what I know and can hit mutliple stores in a few hours. in the last 2 weeks have spent 10 hrs a week picked up 50 items all worth 2k gross and can potentially make 1.5 k net and making about $20.00 a day in net sales... I have gotten faster at listing mulitple items and even packaging as I know what supplies to use and have on hand...also knowing which items to pass up makes a big difference.. I find speed is the big difference, have to get past the learning curve 1st
I work at a smaller goodwill and someone donated a piano a little smaller than the one you showed in the video, good condition, and we marked it at $200 to begin with and it sat for over a month we ended up marking it down to $10 and somebody got a deal
Even pre-pandemic it really seemed like goodwill got wind of videos like this, and all the other ones pertaining to resale for profit. The things in my local goodwills (like old school technics receivers/speakers/etc) that used to be well priced for me to make a profit on are now priced much higher so that the margins are too low for me to be really interested in. :\
I was in bay area for a bit last year and hit up every goodwill and literally found nothing ebay worthy to make even $20. Nothing but ridiculously priced garbage which seemed odd as plenty of rich people in area who like to donate. Couldn't even find a reasonable printer for myself. Later searched for printer on ebay within close shipping distance and first listing click on what do you know.... Seller profile SF Goodwill with like 1.5 million feedback lol They are literally reselling everything of value on ebay. Noticed same in Chicago. Denver was pretty bad too. Seems all bigger cities like that now. Some smaller cities can be ok. Stopped to visit friend in Reno and found tons stuff. One store was priced high but couple other ones were sweet. One high end rare older mint technics sold for 500 same day. Couple Ross sound that went for 250-300. Brand new tivo in box that went for 160. Then bunch of smaller items that went 50-100. We were only out 2-3 hours could barely fit stuff in the car. All the items were priced good too nothing over $15. They definitely get the good stuff still just don't put it out anymore most GWs. Used to buy pallets same crap. Stuff went from going 5-10% value and 90% items good to like people paying 25-50% and now 25% items good. Don't even see how those people can break even. Tried going distributor route buying bulk new product and some distributors don't even take new clients anymore. Ones that do are trying to sell bulk with higher per item price than ebay/amazon prices. Year back was considering getting a warehouse and buying truckloads of overstock/returns and had good supplier but it just seems market is crazy. Prices keep going up, quality down. Think these YT videos brought in masses of people trying to make a living for themselves and ruined everything. Especially with pandemic and many out of work. Garage sales are probably only way to go but even there have tons competition now. Its just not worth it anymore. Unless small scale hobby. Sorry for the long novel, had to get it out. lol

I’ve hit a few lucky licks at my local goodwill out here in San Diego. My best find was an 11pc 1980’s Ping eye 2 red dot Copper Beryllium golf club irons for $22 and sold them on eBay for $475.
@M H, I wrapped the heads of every club with some foam like material that had came in a surround sound system I had, then wrapped 5 of them together in bubble wrap and then the other 6 together in bubble wrap, wanted to make sure there was no way they would get damaged, then I used the box the sound bar from my surround sound system came in and put packing paper in it so they wouldn’t shift around. Shipped them through FedEx which was probably more expensive but it’s convenient for me and I think it cost like $49 to ship from California to North Carolina.
First. This is an amazing store. It has so many things that are not apparel related. I am super jealous. Secondly, the thrift stores around me have really jacked up their prices. It is really maddening.
Old Coleman lanterns can be very expensive. I recently sold two of them for $130+ each. The first one sold under 5 minutes of listing and the other the next day.
I've found that flipping home decor items is pretty profitable. Usually if people see a nice vase online they won't go out of their way looking for how much a vase like it usually sells for, they just buy it. I once bought a clock for $1 at a garage sale and sold it for $15 on eBay. Other people were selling the same clock but for $40 so I missed out on a bigger profit but they likely paid the full retail price when they got the clock so I likely ended up making a bigger profit than them cause I bought it for practically nothing
Gr8 buy's Pete... Love the art deco plane it's going to sell fast... Also the Coleman vintage lamps are very cool and good shape... Well done... Stay safe homie...👍💕🔥⚾😷
Wow! You scored some awesome finds. I haven't been to a Goodwill Store since the pandemic either. I've only been to our local thrift store twice since then and I usually shopped there at least twice a week. I did all of my thrifting for the year at garage sales. Now it's time to List, List, LIST! Best of Luck during Q4!
When we were in Los Angeles(Buena Park) last year (February 2020), we used to go round the thrift stores. Salvation Army was one of the best as you used to have back of the supermarket receipt discounts of 50% plus daily discounts on different colour tickets. My daughter brought lots of expensive American Girl Dolls clothing for a few bucks, worth many multiples of that! I only wish we had stores like that here in the United Kingdom!
Watch some of the older videos when he was dumpster diving, going to garage sales and resale stores. I imagine most of the recent videos have been at his store because a lot was closed down
How does goodwill work, can you negotiate the tag price or do you have to pay the price marked on the item? I just drop off, never been inside the store.
* Some of the Goodwill have turned into "Antique" stores and they not selling for poor people to have a chance any more. They charge More than same item on Ebay many times. I won't go there. They don't pay Employees well either.
I haven't been to goodwill in a long time but my family said that they charge sky high prices nowadays. I know alot of people that have stopped donating to them because of how much they are charging. I might have to check it out for myself. Maybe I'll get lucky and find some deals.
Loved watching you shopping and seeing what you gravitate towards. Plus, you GW looks flipping amazing!! I would literally be in there for hours and hours digging around. So jealous.
I'm glad you bought that weird phone. I would have, too. Maybe you can get a key for it somewhere. I shop Goodwill, but I only go there for glassware and vintage holiday decor. I NEVER buy clothing there unless it is new stock, still in the package and is obviously overstock from another store. They get in literally mountains of clothing that are filthy and contaminated with every gross thing your mind can imagine. That nice used shirt you bought off the rack there might have been lying under a urine-soaked (or substitute some other bodily discharge) garment just moments before. They don't wash or decontaminate anything that comes into their store. If their workers are lucky, they are provided with rubber gloves and masks when they sort the stuff. I don't know how Goodwill can do it, because any other business would be paid a visit from the health department.
great video I watch you a lot and love your channel, just started my own RUclips channel and eBay business, and honestly, it's hard some days but then I realize that the nature of the game so keep it up, love the picks for today can wait to see them sold.
Goodwill shops in my area are typically a retail store in pricing. Items are not always cheap as they do their research . There are some cheaper thrift stores in my area but they are not as well maintained.
It'a funny how people are complaining about Goodwill's prices while they're watching a video of a guy buying said items so he can mark UP the price and resell them in the same kind of store.
He's teaching them how to fish instead of leaving fish on the bank in case someone walks by.
He's giving away info that could help people get out of a financial tight spot. He does this at no cost to the viewer.
He's literally creating his own competition, willingly. How is this wrong? It's not. It's truly not.

It's like the view a child in the child seat of the cart would have. He's teaching us.
In Los Angeles at Salvation Army all pairs of shoes are less than $10 a pair regardless of how much they might be worth. Good Will is a rip-off.
Especially considering the fact that they receive all this stuff as a donation...aka FREE. It’s despicable!
Right Jenna and they sell it all they money goes on their pockets
Their clothes aren’t however. I can attest to this personally. They all sell for a flat rate depending on the day it may be super cheap. Especially the slacks. If you have a job that requires dress pants the local goodwill is your hookup destination. My recent haul of Brooks Brothers would have cost me probably $600 brand new. Honestly we can’t afford it anymore.

That $1k piano will sit there for as long as that store is there lol
Every time I see a piano in a Goodwill, I know for sure someone will start goofing around playing it while I'm in the store...annoying!
Agreed. Most people give them away for free these days unless it's a prome name.
Tuning costs hundreds of bucks...
You can try and make a deal if you think something is too much. Those prices are not set in stone. Talk to the store manager and make an offer.
Go on craigslist, and search for "free piano". There will always be a few posted.
I wouldn’t even take it if it’s free because of the transportation issue.
It's been one year Pete and I don't think you will be judged on this anymore,at first I had a problem with it,I don't anymore, Bless you and I love you in Christ Peter!

How does goodwill work, can you negotiate the tag price or do you have to pay the price marked on the item? I just drop off, never been inside the store.
The cowboy lamp was really cool. Nice picks. They should work out well for you.
I see you have a Woodmans down there by you. I love your videos
Really enjoyed the video! More like this please !
* Some of the Goodwill have turned into "Antique" stores and they not selling for poor people to have a chance any more. They charge More than same item on Ebay many times. I won't go there. They don't pay Employees well either.
Welcome back to Goodwill Pete! You got some neat stuff.. :)
I love shopping at goodwill...you can sometimes find unique items
I haven't been to goodwill in a long time but my family said that they charge sky high prices nowadays. I know alot of people that have stopped donating to them because of how much they are charging. I might have to check it out for myself. Maybe I'll get lucky and find some deals.
I like your video. What a giant Goodwill.
Great haul, Pete. Thanks for sharing.
yeah-i bought a 30lb box of jewelry for 50%off $75 for my first time back too
That art deco plane was nice
When you’re inside the store sifting thru hundreds if not thousands of items at a time, what are you looking for?
Look for something that catches your eye, then search it on ebay. If you think a profit is your way, take it and cruise to big money
That store looks very well stocked! I could have a good time there.
how do you get the sharpe off the bottom of the shoe?
Hey! That’s my local Goodwill! So awesome! We shop at that woodmans grocery store too!
great video I watch you a lot and love your channel, just started my own RUclips channel and eBay business, and honestly, it's hard some days but then I realize that the nature of the game so keep it up, love the picks for today can wait to see them sold.
