I saw both.. I mean the 3 Chinooks and the 5 Apaches flying above Greenhithe couple of days ago. It was an amazing sight! I just heard a huge roaring sound which got more and more louder, so I ran outside very very fast to have a look around and I saw the 3 chinooks. Then after 10 minutes or so the 5 apaches. :D

You would love it where I am at in Alabama. I live next to Ft Rucker which is the #1 Army Aviation training facility. It is pretty cool watching the Apache practicing maneuvers at treetop level, and they are not flying slowly like in this video but extremely fast and aggressive. If you can get in the right area you can also watch the Apache's doing live fire on targets. The best time is during their finals. The air is filled with just about every type of military rotary wing craft you can think of.

but the loudest whopping comes from the AH-1W Super Cobra, you can hear those about 3-4 miles out, they are louder than the legacy Huey even.

I worked/lived (almost sometimes) in the back of the Woka’s for many years. I always found the unique blade beat hypnotic, which got me into a zone, that made me work in a unique way, I just can’t do in civi-life. Maybe it’s because it’s less dangerous & exciting in the real world, maybe it’s because people don’t realise what the few have to do to keep the country safe, so they can moan about trivial things. Either way, I miss the sound, smell, even the decision making, though not all were good ones. It’s hard when you can only watch on RUclips… Nevertheless, 60 years later, and she is still ugly, but nothing comes close to being able to replace her. She is magnificent, and saved thousands of lives, both in combat, humanitarian, & “You” viewers, who haven’t a clue about 99% of the terror plots that are ‘neutralised’, before they reach your town.

It really is a shame they cancelled the Comanche. In the meantime, the AH-64 is a very scary aircraft if you're on its menu.

The Apaches will be upgraded to the "E" model soon and with it comes the longbow radar. Never understood they didn't get the longbow before. Money I guess.
