@@tonshaad1230 i kind of agreed with him, Whitney's speaking voice is very much different than her singing voice, her voice matured and it became a bit deeper but her speaking tone is kind of light during IYBT/Bodyguard or even MLIYL, the reason why her singing sounds dark is because she purposely drops her larynx down when singing like for example during 1998 with mariah carey and whitney, whitneys tone was lighter than mariah when speaking but when they were singing together it was evident that whitneys tone was more darker

And regarding about her "speaking voice" being lighter, check out many interviews in 1987 to 1991 and you'll still hear an actual acute darkness in the mechanism. She only lightened it up to protect the voice (they tell singers to speak on the breath at all times i.e. Leonard Warren, dramatic baritone, had a tenor-esque speaking voice but was nowhere near a tenor. It is designed to protect and coat the voices and that's it. It's funny that Mariah's speaking voice is actually depressed larynx which is just as bad as a super elevated one and it sounds like she's darker than what she is. Then, she'll sing and the actual lightness comes in the voice.

Also the youuuuuuuus after the modulation were F#5's in the original key, she always seemed more comfortable to hit F5's.
