This is an informative video. I know that there's alot of heavy lifting in BUDS. But I still wouldn't have thought that a 115 cross-country dude would have any trouble at BUDS. I figured that the thing to be at BUDS would be FAST.
Solid answers for the 115 cross country dude. I did basic at 130 (overseas military. Not US). I out ran and out swam everybody. Then came the prep for navy dive school, which was based on both US and Canadian navy dive standards. I managed at 130, but only because I had the grit part. Lots of rucking, lots of other load-bearing stuff and I did combatives.
All these pre military guys need to first get a good relationship with being miserable as our baseline.Such as,filthy, cold, wet, hungry, fatigue, no rest, no sleep, and so on. Add to that nagging painful injuies. Then on top of this have to will function on a professional soldier level and STILL FINISHING the mission. That's what a lot of these cats can't do.
when your a small guy all your life its easier to get bullied. military seem like it can get me tough mentality, the problem with this guy is that he has watch too many military movies that made it seem the seal teams or rangers or SF is cool thing to do. a couple weeks of training, maybe a few push ups, carry a light ruck sack for a couple of days, then its off to jumping out planes and doing building breaches and killing bad guys and its back home to tell kill stories around the fire. NOT even remotely accurate. Seal team, SFAS, Ranger training and ranger school, DEVGRU, CAG, Delta, Special mission units and so forth is some of the hardest training for a reason. This guy to need understand he needs to focus on getting through basic training first and needs to understand the SOF community is a very high risk and dangerous job skill. Quitting is not an option in combat. And his facial expression show he has the capacity to quit when Jake told him to run in clothes covered in sand for 13 miles. its called intestinal fortitude, If he had that I don't know if I want to do that mentality just with that suggestion, how in the world he thinks he can get through boot camp yet along the hardest military training in the armed forces.
Wrestling is one of the hardest sports out there for mental toughness/physical but you can learn a lot about yourself when you have another man trying to choke you unconscious or break your limbs.. and also jujutsu is a combat simulated training like krav maga.. Brazilian jiu-jitsu is grappling focused...

He knows the answer before he asked the question. Did he expect Jake to say hes good to go for any type of military program at 115?

I think that’s why he asked. Of course I’m just guessing. He wanted to know what range he should be in as far as weight and the best way to get there
