OMP is a TRUE INSPIRATION for me to continue to play. As I’ve gotten older, 63, and arthritis has come to my knees, hips and back pretty bad, I can see from Pat that the easier swing like his can be successful for me. I will use his course management as well. Hopefully I’ll be able to play to my late 70’s like OMP!

Years ago, I was walking on a course here in the States. On the second tee I came up on an older gentleman, around 75. I asked if he'd mine me joining him and he smiled and said of course. I was playing the middle tees, he was playing the front. OMP reminds me so much of him, right down the middle, short backswing, friendly, easy going......I think he beat me on every hole we played. Best beating I ever took.....enjoyed every moment of it. It wasn't about the score, for once. It was just about the game, and the memories you make along the way......

Pat really is an inspiration, I've already watched and learned bettering my handicap on the last 6 outings.
What sets OMP aside is his nonchalant attitude, but when you hear the crispness of his strike and his distance control that's what makes OMP the BEST golfer on RUclips. I'm sure him and Old Man Len will

I have learnt so much from this Liam. I was thinking only earlier today that for me to get down to a 19 handicap all I have to do is bogey every hole. I have to stop thinking I should be there in the shortest amount of shots possible. I need to play steady and watch my handicap drop bit by bit. Course management is key and knowing your own skill levels. OMP is a true gentleman and I hope to meet him again later this year.
Same hear Oggie going for holes in 2 when realistically I've got no chance and end up making 6 or 7
Get yourself the book (or audiobook) Zen Golf. Got me into the 70s and broke par twice (all about your ego, attitude, and approach, but with a lot of physical golf stuff to practice with). Before that, I couldn't break 82.
OMP... We can learn a lot from these much respected mature gentlemen. Patience, Tolerance, Kindness, RESPECT of others... And Golf! I learned this lesson back when I was 17 (52 now) paired with a gentleman who made me realize to slow down... Think before you hit, concentrate let alone practice. I played horrible that day, he primarily parred every hole. It took years for that advice to sink in. Love and gratitude and much respect from an American in Michigan (2 hcp).
The first time I watched Pat's golf playing, I thought it was some kind of joke, you know, edited video kind of thing. But then when I watched more of Pat's playing, and yes, Liam's never-ending praise, Pat is a BLOODY good golfer!!! His playing style is almost business-like; "just hit it up in the fairway, chip on and hopefully one putt..." That is SKILL on another level, the skill of how to handle the male testosterone, or skill of how to calm the Yang down and let the Yin balance things out. Well done, Sir. I am a fan now. 77 yr old, plays off 11, blind me... I wish I can play like that when I am 77... I can't even play like that NOW!!! LOL
@@GolfMates LOL, oh no, my bad English. I meant, "Pat, being 77 yr old, plays off 11, blind me..." I am 59 but stopped playing golf since I married the 2nd time. But before that, I played golf almost all over the world..... USA (Florida, Los Angelis), Portugal, Hong Kong, Guilin of China (where my 2nd wife is from originally). I was playing 12... but I had to give it up to start a family. My best mate plays off 5. He also got married hence ending up playing much less.... but we always talked about golf when we got together and that's a lot because we work in the same place... Recently, I got golfing bugs crawling again when I learnt that Tiger won again. By chance, I found your videos. Also, I found that I am so out of date in terms of golfing gear. I still have a carton of Pro V1 not opened. Watching Pat's play, I really want to play again... Have to sweeten up the Mrs somehow...
The thing I love most about OMP is the fact he has so much confidence and belief and looks to have zero doubt in his ability. I only dream to be playing golf at his age never mind at this level 😁😁😁👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Just played for the first time in 3 months due to work after watching this vlog. Followed OMP's advice and played 6 shots better than normal plus no oob or lost balls. GO OMP!

One thing that I think is quite noticeable about OMP is his shot routine is exactly the same every time. One practice swing, then addresses the ball, moves his right foot slightly so he's in position and then knocks it down the fairway. What a man 😍😍
Having only recently found your channel and become a Golf Mate, I am just going through and watching OMP videos to make me a better golfer! I could watch these videos all day. Just video him playing 18-holes, every shot will be a lesson! Such a great attitude.

He's the best golfer because he always plays to the maximum of his ability and always enjoys his game. People could learn a lot from OMP. I'm new to the game (52 years old, 3 years playing and 10 handicap) and I'm sick of playing with players who throw tantrums because they go for the big shot and it doesn't work out. OMP I wish I could play with you every day. players always ask me why I never get angry on the golf course and how did I get to 10 handicap so quickly and I explain to them "I'm not at work, the mobile is switch off and I'm playing a game that I love because it challenges my skills and my mental ability" Long live OMP cheers Francis from Australia

OMP Legend ! Interestingly I only started playing golf properly 4yrs ago and was awful my handicap was 22 !
A member of my club who has had 40yrs of playing golf took me under his wing and showed me pretty much what OMP has just shown us.
4yrs later im now 10.7hcp and had two holes in one !
Keeping it simple using course management equals better golf and most importantly makes you a better player.

I just love Pats philosophy, this is a great example of how to use your handicap around the golf course.
Thank you very much for this Liam and OMP. There is much value in this. Don't underestimate just how difficult those little pitch shots are (like the one OMP nonchalantly knocked onto the green on the par-3). He used a pitching wedge which is a sensible club. Often times we use too much loft (sand wedge or even lob wedge) and either knife it through the back or chunk it nowhere. He knows his yardages (classic on the par-5) and plays to his strengths. Most of us would have tried to take on the ditch and failed.
Impressive and inspirational, thanks for showing what can be accomplished with smart play. OMP is an example for all golfers.
Great video...OMP is great...I'm a senior golfer (70) a young guy..lol.. I'd like to see OMP give a few pointers short video on anything he thinks is helpful to us older guys...great job as usual Liam...the respect you have for OMP is just wonderful and tells me what kind of guy you are too..all the best..Robert
I'm 73 and wishing I had OMP's golf swing .But I think these video's have shown me to be myself, quit trying to drive with the youngsters , and work on chipping and putting, and learn how far I hit my clubs. Thanks Golf Mates for keeping Golf fun..

Great advice that is exactly how I coach my young daughter. She is the smallest golfer out there in her group and in 6 competitions last year year she was first place four times by playing to her strengths. She doesn't care one bit that she doesn't hit it the farthest she takes what the course gives her. Great job Pat very sounds advice!! PS now if only I would follow that same approach😁

I was a member of a golf course for about 10 years and know that you can become very familiar with any course if played for long enough, with respect would you be able to take OMP onto a course that he is not familiar with and see how his strategy performs there compared to his home course ,

Go OMP! Common sense answers to everyday golfing situations, where ego would normally make people tie themselves up in knots. Personally I'd like OMP to explain his chipping: does he ever vary height / spin / roll / club, and the decision process he uses.
