Very true, means no cats or resonators/mufflers of any kind. However, straight pipe its often referred when doing muffler delete

Nope. If they had of eliminated the cats as well, then yes, there would’ve been a code. But just the res and muffler, you’re good.

Throttle pops and backfires from stock engine, not a stock exhaust. I’ve got an E550 with the same motor and similar exhaust set up

Lol those aren’t “Secondary resonators” theyre secondary Catalytic Converters!!
@@stevenschultz7317 The ML more than likely has a very different set up, mind you I know nothing about the ML’s exhaust system. It’s possible, but as an owner of a CLS550 myself, i know that in front of the resonator box are two secondary/smaller catalytic converters. From headers to the back it goes Cats, Secondary Cats, Resonator Box, then mufflers and out the tips. Can’t say I know it’s the same or different for an ML, point is to anyone to do their research before chopping off parts of their exhaust system as when you go to get an inspection if you move or whatever the reason, you could potentially face hefty fines or have to have them put back on. Enjoy your ML550, one of my favorite MB SUV’s!!

Doesnt add horsepower if it does maybe 3+ at the most the mod is really for sound
@@FerrariBoy289 Really? I was guessing it would maybe more like 7-10hp? allowing the engine to breathe with less restriction in exhaust flow, Plus at least about 100 lbs removal of stock mufflers and resonators? Thanks for responding.

@@samln5019 Mercedes exhaust isn’t restricted at all. The resonators and mufflers are a very straight through design. If anything is restricting, it’s the stock cats, and the pipe diameter. Delete the cats with catless downpipes and do a 3” straight pipe all the way through and you will get more power, but that will also require a tune. I didn’t gain any power when I cut mines off.
Sport mode doesn’t do anything to the exhaust chief, and those welds look terrible
Yes it does, I’ve got an E550 with resonator and muffler delete. It opens up.
You can especially note the difference when driving regularly on lower revs; more exhaust note in Sport, much less in Eco.
& the higher revs obv being loud regardless of drive mode (3,000+RPM)
Used to think sport did nothing for exhaust volume but it certainly does! On my car at least
