The Cartier Tortue Monopoussoir 2396, one of the most famous Cartier's and even just WATCHES of all time. We got our greasy little hands on one and we are giving it a good old review! The title isn't really click bait, this watch is one of the most lusted after watches of all time and almost impossible to get. So...what do we think of it?

Cartier continues to always win me over with staying true to their original shapes, style, and my favorite blued hands
I did not realize this watch existed, and now I may never stop thinking about it
Oh this one is the ONE!! Honestly! The monopoussoir tortue is one of my grails. I think it would be slightly too big for me, but I don't even care. Slice of gorgeousness! Also.... Christian said Cartier correctly once in this video. ;) Progress! ;) hhaha (kidding Christian, I know you say you don't want to have to change the way you say things.... ;) )
Same. But one watch Cartier is dropping soon is also on my grail list. The cartier Santos Dumont Lacquered platinum.
1/ Thanks for sharing this rare piece. Interesting, enjoyed this and honestly learnt something new.
2/Credit to Michael for great watch photography.
3/Like to know if that’s the original leather strap with this watch? I think that strap is lovely and makes it.
4/I love the whimsical artistry in product design of Cartier. I do wish they’d embrace this heritage and go more ‘out there’ today. Tank and Santos quite conservative, Pasha almost works, Drive kinda like (and own), Crash not so much. Need a stand out….
You've just added to my grail list. Absolutely love this watch
Can 32-34mm vintage/neo-vintage watches ever be mainstream adjacent? I have a 32mm AP in YG, 33mm Omega in YG, and 33mm Cartier Santos Ronde. All of which in superb condition and had at a "bargain" price compared to 36mm+ comperables. Look at 'small' Cartier watches getting attention from auction prices, vintage Vacheron 222, or many 36mm+ references from esteemed brands trending up in price, especially vintage. I'd image that'd be a catalyst for people to start looking for similar design/build/cache at a better value. Admittedly, before I got my 32-34mm watches, I also didn't think twice about small watches, but after handling them in hand it immediately made sense that the ~10% reduction in case size is negligable, the smaller watches wear nicer on the wrist, and saving 50% on an alternate from the same brand & era feels great. Are sub 36mm watches (bar exceptions like Tank or Reverso) doomed to be 'ladies' watches?
such a valid point Michael. I think Cartier should stop selling those cheap fragrances
Cartier really sold me on their designs. Tank, Santos, Balon blue, drive, asymmetric are all just awesome designs!
Cartier is incredible for the clout they have created. As you said, it‘s the design first and the mechanicals (almost or often) don‘t matter for Cartier. Same holds true for Tiffany imo - I love their watch designs, esp the unique East-West, so I would also love to see them put more effort into the watches as does Cartier.
And yet, this particular Cartier has a more interesting movement than nearly all of the best chronographs in the world.
I wish you two would post these more regularly, by far my favorite watch channel
Love that watch. Such a cool case, somewhere in between standard rectangle and tonneau
Really beautiful. The newer Santos de Cartier takes some design cues from this when you think about it. More smooth and curved, crystal that follows the lines of the body, etc.
This new format is really interesting and refreshing, an all around great video.
It’s remarkable that people still don’t take Cartier as a serious watch maker. Pretty sure they’ve recently taken over Omega as #2 Swiss watch exporter. Incredibly rich in history, iconic models, in-house movements, and beautiful timepieces. I absolutely love my Santos medium. Blew me away from the minute I held it in my hands…
It's hard to remember how little people outside of the watch world care about mechanical movements. I sent my niece one of my watches six months ago as a gift, and when I finally visited home she brought it to ask me how to change the battery. Truly couldn't imagine giving someone a quartz watch that wasn't, like, a G Shock.
Just got the platinum tortue 2518F with the same dimensions 34 X 43. Perfect for my wrist. This video gave me the idea. Glad you posted it. Love that dial but couldn't afford it and this one suits me well.
Love the Monopoussoir. I remember seeing them available for 15k as recently as 2018 and was shocked when a few months ago I saw them for 45k. Great video! I’ve been waiting for someone to talk about this.
Side note, love that polo Christian! May I ask what it is?
Looked for that Tortue for years before the price madness. Now it’s >$60k 🤦♂️😭 anything Journe has touched has turned to pure gold. And it’s just a gorgeous design
“Anything that a beautiful woman whispers in your ear… it’s beautiful. Now that’s beautiful.
The character Tom in the show Succession wore a Cartier Tortue, nice touch.
Cartier have a unique beauty in their whatch design language
The Cartier you presented is the nicest design I have ever seen! There are some nice pics of this watch on fB Molequin.
Why not mention the 3 names behind THA, Vianney Halter, Denis Flageollet and François-Paul Journe ? People deserve to know !
Must’ve been edited out! But not sure why!
I haven't known of the piece. Very refreshing to see a fairly unknown gem covered.
Where are these graphs of watch models’ prices over time? I’m trying to figure out the going price for certain Cartier models currently
I recently stumbled into Cartier watches. Ughhhhh. S-tier. So many models i now need. Ughhh. So goooood
I love Cartier. Also, I believe that Tiffany has some incredible designs that are similarly overlooked and underrated by enthusiasts but will stand the test of time and become more desirable down the road.
I know Cartiers are iconic and historic, they just don’t speak to me. This model is very beautiful and very cool though. Not for me, but it is a great piece.
This one is truely amazing and I think it's my favorite cartier right now. And didn't even heard of it until this video
People want Rolex because it’s a recognizable status symbol. This Cartier, while it’s a nice piece doesn’t offer that and therefore isn’t as desirable.
I lol'd when you said : Cartier whispers in your ear "turtle" and you exclaim "omg that's so hot" 😂
Cartier can be pretty intriguing.
Wdym ap and vc both made quartz watches during this time and in significant numbers .
Beautiful watch, I am jealous. I have a Roadster S, but would love that Tortue!!!
Leave the man alone! He likes his Fendi quartz!! 😂🤣😂🤣😂 you guys are the best!!!
That is a beautiful watch. I really love it.
where do I get a polo like Christian wears?
I absolutely love the Tortue Monopoussoir. Thanks for the video!!
Well there it is. If I had only gotten into watches a few years ago.
Great watch, perhaps. FYI, I am fortunate to own models from both houses. But saying this model is more sought after than the Rolex Daytona tells me that you need to put the bong down.
I adore this watch! Absolutely love it if only, I wish I had that kind of money! Thanks for the review guys really enjoyed every bit of this video. Dave
What a stunning watch!!
I was at my Rolex AD and he said the number 1 brand in sales was Rolex. Number 2, was Cartier. I was very surprised.
Do a review of a tudor 76213/76214 please
Such a wonderful piece ! Btw would you guys consider reviewing a chopard luc 1860 1.96 one day ?
Can you start posting your podcast on Apple Podcasts?
Where can I get that cool green t-shirt from?
He said Rolex couldn’t do it, but they did make a quartz
What watch is Christian wearing?
that intro was priceless lol
Oh I NEEED this one!
I’m hooked on the podcast!
Monopusher watch is very rare in the market
Cartier is timeless style.
Come on guys. Keep the Cartier on the DL!
Interesting christian believes the reverso is built better. I thought Chauvot also designed the basculante after the reverso and believed the mechanism to be more streamlined and simpler. My guess is that it may be harder to operate but is much simpler to produce and more resilient. I have never held either so I will defer to christian.
Yea totally on the mark abouts the basculante 😝
Talk about the Tudor Pelagos 39 already.
Wow CPCP!!!! I saw that watch years ago on net and i could not find out what it is for years untill collected man put it on Instagram and than bum everyone knows it
That thing is pretty badass and I generally am not a fan of Cartier watches.
Beautiful Cartier, slightly over shadowed by the teeth! 😉
Great video and look at a very interesting watch.
what an eye candy
Incredible watch.
Stunning timepiece..!
Cartier is the best brand, datejust is the best watch imo
Lovely watch.
Bubba - I’m dead 😂🤦🏻♂️
Another great drop.
Awesome review
Your channel has got me back into Cartier with all of your great content
And yet I am still buying the solarbeat
Mamma mia che bello 😍!
seems like there are more than one on chrono for less than 70k....just sayin
More In-demand because it's more affordable and there are more supplies, title is misleading. terms of grey market outlook. Daytona will still reign on top.
'Bubba' 😂 that's a real shame lol
Christian, check out Todd Snyder clothing, you might like some of their stuff.
Let’s not get crazy
Not really. There’s just less of them
Lovely watch, we can't never be wrong about Cartier, it's always classy.
But let's be honest guys, we can't even succeed to be added on any Rolex's list lately, plus the simple fact that the Rolex ADs are becoming more and more arrogant and lazy by the time.
Good luck finding a crystal replacement
I would F****** Rock on a tank American. But that is Beautiful....
There is a special place in hell for bullies
I dunno which is shinier, yer ones forehead or the polish on the watch....
Yikes, $50k for that thing
Thes are children!
Literally just LOVE you guys❤️😎⌚️✌️
nah it is a vintage ok watch only.... meh
Eh still not impressed, rather own JLC.
Nice watch but BS that is more popular than Rolex
Yeah. No it’s not. Lmao!
😍😍😍
Real reason this video was made:

Yawn
They are both overrated both too expensive and nobody especially rolex cant make a decent looking watch. Both suck
Way to lose viewers, guys. I turned off your podcast after 49 seconds, the potty mouths think dropping constant foul language is cool. No going back. Giving up on this channel. Grow up or go bust.
Bizarre, huh? This fifty-year-old fuddy duddy was pretty bummed. Honestly, not sure if I was a client and listened to that, that I would have confidence in their professionalism. But then again, on a recent vacation to a larger city, I realized that loud cursing and lack of public decorum is a thing now.
@@jerrymathers11 I like your name 🤣. As for Michael and Christian, they need to learn that insults are better delivered using education. And maybe NYC and its ways isn't the role model they think it is.
Great video guys! Love Cartier. @christan Please tell us What Watch you wear
Yo dude on the left, who makes your shirt?
