I love your writing. It sets you apart by a mile. There is so little insight given about this weird passion by other RUclipsrs. Bought the same watch and your text hit perfectly.
It's a beautiful classic. Looks great on you so...yeah...as a member of 'the audience" here, I think most of us associate this watch with you, so it makes sense to us and we are glad it finally makes sense to you👊🏻
Hallelujah- someone speaks truth about why they want and own these luxury watches. Brand. Nothing wrong with that - so way to own it. This was awesome dude
I'm a Cartier fan. My first luxury watch purchase was a Cartier Tank Must ivory dial. I have skinny wrist so it wears well and I got multiple different types of straps for it so I'm able to dress it up and dress it down.
Cartier tank must + milanese bracelet = understated elegance. I wear mine with the same milanese bracelet, and it just looks so good! I wear it because it looks nice, and I love it. And you're right, it gives a good feeling, and there's no shame in that.
I own the exact same watch, I’ve done myself exact the same question, and I gave myself exact the same answer. Plus, I’ve a very small wrist so the comfort of having it on without even noticing, a thing that is not possible with others I own like the 58, it’s something very important for me.
The Tank is a classic and I think the quartz version is the best version (normal quartz, not the solar version). That’s why I’m saving up for one rather than buying a perfectly good cheaper watch which any normal, rational person would do. It’s a Cartier and that’s what I want.
New subscriber here. I heard someone once say that watch collecting leads to one (or both) of these watches: the Reverso or the Tank. I went with the Reverso, because it’s what spoke to me. Like you, it was partly a vain choice but one that is now a pillar in my collection. Great video, and looking forward to watching more!
I own 19 watches, all of them steel except one that is in gold. That one gold watch is Tank Louis. That watch just works. The perfect little gold dress watch for a man. Even a Calatrava or a Lange 1815 that costs 3 or 4 times more can't beat it. A clean dress shirt and a Tank, and boom, everyone knows you are a gentleman and you have good tastes. Very few material things can instantly elevate a man like that.
Hydrophobic actually means it has water repelling properties, not that it is unsuitable for use in the presence of water. For example, you would apply a "hydrophobic coating" to things if you wanted to increase its water resistance. Dress watches are typically hydrophilic, because they don't have engineering to keep water out.
I own two cartiers. A Santos 100 large and a Must XL. I love them both. They are oddballs in my collection. They make me feel good, are comfortable.. and I wear them with polos and shorts.. all the time. They are much more versatile than one would think. One looks sporty. The other.. a little dressy.
@@jamesdaly1111 They are both actually 23mm... however the Santos 100 uses an integrated wedge shaped block for the lug mating and the Must XL is just a standard flat strap. No inter-operability... sadly. However, Nomad makes FANTASTIC aftermarket straps for both. They are really nice.
I def want the solar tank because of maintenance reasons. I don’t wanna have to service a watch often for a lot of money. Not to mention it’s super classy
In addition to your analysis which is spot on, I think we enthusiasts don’t mind paying for something more fragile and less accurate and more expensive maintenance because that’s part of what makes it special. It’s special because it requires all those things. Anyone can just go to Walmart and buy a cheap quartz watch, but not everyone finds joy and passion around the intricacies of luxury mechanical watches. There’s a lot to “explore” (if you see what I did there) and be fascinated with. None of this would make sense. If it did, then everyone would do it!
