such a good album, and just the OUTRO is one of the most brilliant pieces of rock music EVER, in my opinion. such a good song overall. also, Fairweather Friends is an amazing song...ridiculously catchy, and driving and totally memorable. it's like an evolved/mutated offspring of Go With the Flow from Songs for the Deaf, with some extra limbs and fingers and toes. more on that theme elsewhere.
@@danielburton2736 little sister was just like Go With the Flow, in a good way...just a quick blast of straightforward brilliant song, super-catchy, with a sound totally unique to QOTSA. I shit you not, it sounds like a Songs for the Deaf-era QOTSA, with the Gojira vocals reminding a bit of Nick Oliveri's & the HS vocals more like Joshua H. Josh Homme initially sought out Trent Reznor to produce this album! Schedules didn't line up due to Homme's medical issues, and they ended up self-producing. But Reznor would've been a perfect fit for the feel of this record.
Wow never knew that was Alex Turner that's awesome. Makes sense considering Josh Homme produced an Arctic Monkeys album and did some guest vocals on the Arctic Monkeys song "Knee Socks"
Brad, I love that you are your own biggest critic, but be reassured that even when you think you haven’t hit the quality that you want, we all think it’s quality and love you. You release great content and your fans are always filled with people loving what you dish out.
My God is the Sun is probably the best live music experience I've ever had. The crowd was so crammed and energetic that you only moved with the crowd, but when people fell other people caught them and helped them up. QOTSA essence made manifest.
I Appear Missing is top 5 songs for me of all time. Can’t wait to see you react to that one, especially the lyrics of him dying and coming back to life in the hospital. I get goosebumps everytime. One of the few albums where the second half is just as good if not better than the first.
I'm super excited because he loves this half and the second half is objectively even better, I personally believe its ten times better. One of the best closing 1-2 punches on any album ever and Smooth Sailing is one of the most batshit insane, downright filthiest grooves ever.
@@daryl7531 Smooth Sailing jams so fucking hard I totally agree. And yeah it might have the best 2 last songs of any album. I just love how amazing and firey the guitars are throughout this whole album
Brad, this is great and it doesn't sound bad to me at all. You have done brilliant work here, always love hearing you get enthusiastic about music. Love this album. It is very dark. Josh's marriage seems to have pretty much broken down in recent years and I remember hearing some of the lyrics on this and thinking "damn that doesn't sound good" such as the "I feel no love" on Vampyre. I don't think Josh was as bothered about lyrics in his early days but he has definitely gotten better on the last few albums. I remember hearing that when he did the Them Crooked Vultures album with Dave Grohl and John Paul Jones he felt extra pressure to raise his game lyrically. And I think it is noticeable since then
If you watch a video that breaks down like clockwork a lot of the album is about his battle after he got really ill and died on the operating table but I wonder how far back the issues with his wife goes in his music
I Appear Missing is literally a perfect song and I can’t wait to see your reaction to it. I don’t even listen to much rock, but that song is one of my top 10 favorites of all time
While the sound isn't as great as it's been on your other vids, it's significantly better than what your tweets and that intro led me to believe it'd be like. You've clearly done a great job with this!
So happy to see this notification on my phone. I have been waiting for so long to hear you on this album, love it so much. Thank you so much, and I'm also happy to see you pushing and getting over hardships, all the best, love your channel ❤️
i’m glad you took your time with this album and didn’t just jump into it after their last one. from how much you were avoiding it and your reactions on stream, i thought your opinion on it would just be lukewarm. think it really goes to show that you can’t force or insist on content creators to run on anyone’s schedule but their own
Brad, if you want some great music to review. I would reccomend Dirt by Alice in Chains, an amazing album about drug addiction and what comes with it. It even has super catchy songs. Either way stay well brad, we all support you anyway , no need to stress 👍
I think this is the first reaction of yours I have seen…QOTSA always gets my attention 😁. I love the smiley balls. I will definitely be looking for part 2. “The Vampyre of Time and Memory” is just so sad and so beautiful at the same time. I absolutely love it. Have you thought about checking out the NIRATIAS album CheVelle dropped this year? It’s excellent.
You’re awesome Brad, and your view and excitement of the music never fails to make my hyped even though I’ve heard these songs many times. Keep up the great work❤️
Oh, man. Everyone talking I Appear Missing (great song, of course). I'm so interested in what you have to say about Kalopsia. Also, you should check out the short film made up by music videos for several songs in this. So awesome

The Vampyre of Time and Memory, to me, is drugs. Josh has been very open about his drug usage...he was a high-functioning meth addict for many many years.
