Im glad you took Sarma and Karadjordjeva, cause they are our traditional food, most people goes with Cevapi and Burek, not realizing that they are more related to Bosnia... Now you need to try "Pihtije", many people don't like "Pihtije", but they are on same rank with Sarma and are usually prepared for Holidays... :D
Actualy Burek was first made in Niš by a Turkish baker. And Cevapi were being made by hajduks (Serbian rebels against the Ottoman) "hajduks (rebels, outlaws) made the hajdučki ćevap ("hajduk ćevap"), which was easy to make, out of pieces of meat and smoked lard on a skewer roasted over fire" & they were being made in Leskovac before the mid-1800's and had spread to Belgrade from Leskovac (NOT BiH) by 1860. "In Belgrade, ćevapčići first came from Leskovac in the 1860s, into the kafana "Rajić" at the Great Marketplace (today Studentski Trg), from where they quickly spread across the city, and subsequently, country. " They are said to have spread to the rest of Yugoslavia by 1930. So more likely Bosnia got it from Serbia which got it from southern Serbia.
