What’s the outlook this season 2021? I read Neah Bay is close for non residents. I want to go fishing on Sept 2nd. Hopefully it will open by that time.
Over on the mountain, thunder spoke Fishing for bottom fish, such as ling cod, kelp greenling, black rockfish (sea bass), china rockfish, yellow eye and canary rockfish, among others. Ling cod is good in spring and summer, while salmon fishing is good during summer runs. However - Neah Bay is mostly known for the best halibut fishing in the lower 48 states. The United States halibut season generally lasts a handful of days in May and June, ending when a seasonal quota is attained. When the United States halibut season is closed, some fishermen obtain Canadian fishing licenses and launch from Neah Bay, running approximately 10 miles (16 km) to the portion of Swiftsure Bank that lies in Canadian waters
+Adam Kraabel yes, that spot has been good for ling in the past, as well there is an off water WDFW made spot south of the bridge (3 miles or so) called Toliva Shoal. I have no idea if these locations are even open anymore for bottomfish, maybe a short ling season. Be sure to check the regs.
NW Fishing From the Neah Bay launch to Wadda Island is about a mile. Around Wadda Island to fish along the shoreline is 3-4 miles, and as you go around Wadda Island you'll run into a heavy tidal chop, once you get past that it smooths out, on a calm day, anyway.
Females are blue, males are not. But Cabazon have GROUCHO MARX eyebrows. Blue ling cod and kelp greening are blue if female unless its transgender and you have to ask a liberal.
I know you can tell it's legal after catching so many, but crackin them on the head BEFORE you measure sets a bad example for the less experienced. Jus sayin.
the speed of those ling hits!! I love that I cant wait
That was a fantastic day of fishing. Wish I was there.
Great fishing!!

Hey, new boater here. What resources should I check if I want to go out on Neah Bay? I have a 16 foot fiberglass boat.
I’ve never eaten such small ling cod. Are the fillets worth keeping?
Yup

Are there any good rocky bottom fishing spots in the central south sound? If so, where?
+Adam Kraabel none that I am aware of.
What about the Tacoma Narrows?

Mis identified that fish.
It was a china rock fish.
How far do you have to run from the launch there?
