1 ok, 2 imma build an apu build and add the gpu later because you know, 3 havent built it, 4 once upon a time there was an evil scientist that died from cancer and the world was saved the end
I built two computers for my shop last year, once in August and one in September. The hardest part was finding the case. The one for my desk need 5.25" bays (BR DVD Burner). That was hardest part. I think I settled on a "Air" case. The i5 System with the low end RTX3060 video card seems more stable than the I7 with RTX3090 video card and has been dead nuts reliable for a bench computer.
Between steps 5 and 6, I did a preliminary startup of my MoBo. This step was included in LTT’s lengthy video on building a PC. After completing step 5, attach the cables from your PSU to MoBo and EPS power. If you are using a CPU with no iGPU, you will also install your dGPU and necessary power. Then turn on the PSU. Next, using the tip of a screwdriver, you want to jump the pins on the MoBo that represent the power switch of a Case. You only need to POST or jump into the BIOS; we are not installing your OS of choice or altering any settings in the BIOS yet, just doing preliminary checks to make sure everything is in order before installing the MoBo to the Case Chassis. Your system checks at this point are to see a BIOS/POST, ensure all installed components (CPU, RAM, NVMe/SATA M.2 SSDs) are recognized by the system, and to check thermal applications of air or AIO coolers. If you are using a custom loop, you can skip the last check. Power off the PSU to fix any issues. If everything checks correctly, continue the build; otherwise, troubleshoot the problem before continuing on with the rest of the build.
I'm literally sitting at home, waiting for my components to be delivered (only the motherboard has arrived so far). My last build was 7 years ago so this video was perfectly timed!
Just finished my new setup 1 hour ago ^^ also 7 years ago since the last build. 7700k ---> 5600x Asus Rog Maximus IX ---> MSi B550 gaming carbon Wifi Msi gaming X 1070 ---> Msi 3070 gaming trio Love it so far. And for the first time RGB in my Corsair 780t case :)
I did it! I'm a 30 y o woman and honestly pretty proud of myself. I got stuck a couple times because there are ports that were empty but it all turned on and worked on my first try!
@@aaaaryu7774 the worst thing you can do is be too heavy handed (and bend pins), and I think women are typically much gentler. it's honestly a lot like building legos and you just match the names on the cables to the labels on the motherboard. everything else can be fixed/changed back. it seems scary but I totally think you can do it! I also used chatgpt a lot to help answer questions, shared pictures etc. I was prepared to pay a taskrabbit to troubleshoot if I didn't get it working but it all worked in the end!
Jason, How little can you spend to build a dedicated pc to play sim racing (iRacing) only. It needs to meet or exceed all minimum specs on a curved monitor in 1440. If of course you wanted to spec out multiple resolutions etc...........
Looking at the listed system requirements for iRacing, it seems relatively easy to run. For 1440p on an ultrawide at high details, I'd look for at least an RTX 3070 or RX 6800. A Ryzen 5600 would likely be enough. So somewhere in the $1000 range? Maybe $1100.
This was an awesome, easy to follow video! I had no knowledge of building a PC or knowing what components went into building one until I came across your channel. I finally built my PC and was scared to turn it on for a little bit lol. I kept thinking I must have messed it up somehow but it's running!! Thank you so much Jason!!
I wanted to provide some feedback from my earlier comment two weeks ago. I can confirm having no experience whatsoever other than watching this video I managed to build my PC and it posted first time! The only issue I had were two fans spinning but not lighting up this was a simple fix as you can imagine. The other nervous part for me was seating the CPU however that was easy enough it was only afterwards when I mounted an AIO (not shown in this video) I realised I mounted it wrong after undoing it and trying to pull a way the pump it was stuck due to the thermal paste I pulled so hard the whole CPU popped out I got lucky though no broken pins. If other people in the same situation make sure you undo the lever holding the CPU first if you can get to it mine was AM4. All in though was a huge success it looks awesome and it’s fast. Jason I also used your affiliate links for Windows 11 pro thanks for this series and for link! I got this!
I just built a new pc the first time in 10 years. I watched several videos, only Jason gave the tip to plug in the EPS cables before putting the board in the case. That tip is golden.
Good tips. I might add : if you're flashing the BIOS, make sure to use a smaller (4/8/16GB) USB stick with flashing led. I lost two days thinking my motherboard was dead but it was just a dodgy USB stick that the BIOS for some reason was rejecting.
Great video, Jason! Having been building PCs for over 20 years, the best piece of advice is to plan ahead to minimize any potential problems. For example, if the mobo you're looking at states it might need a BIOS flash to post with the CPU... I would just choose another mobo that's already compatible, if possible? Even though flashing a BIOS is painless, it's another step in what becomes multiple steps when building a PC. I can build one in about three, four hours, but I've been doing this for decades, like Jason. A new builder is going to have a certain amount of anxiety and anything you can do to minimize, or eliminate that anxiety is what will make building their first PC a fun and enjoyable experience vs. a frustrating and draining one.
This is exactly what I was hoping for! I definitely feel more confident in building my computer. I have 4 more parts to get. I’m still lost on what to do after you build, so I can’t wait for that video!
@@TotemoGaijin Yeah, because regardless of what you do software-wise you can always restore it to the initial state, while with hardware you can actually break something
Doesn't matter how many times I build a PC, it always helps to come back to one of your vids make sure I haven't missed a step. Thanks for making these.
Hey Jason! Finally a timely guide for 2023...Looking forward to the next segment. Will you be including a guide to how to upgrade your Ram and or overclocking Ram somewhere in your upcoming guides? Finally I hope you might provide a written set up guide as well. Clearly the best site for PC advice for every level. Thanks again!
great video , I have recently upgraded my pc from a ryzen 5 2600 to a ryzen 7 2700x , doubled the ram to 32gb ddr4 3200 mhz and installed a 1tb ssd . What a differance it is soooo quick .
big shout out to you man, i just built my first pc ever using this video as a guide after a very nice individual at best buy helped me pick all the parts (bc my poor ancient pre built was ready to retire). It took me ALL DAY LOL but i got it working!!! thank you SO MUCH!!!
This video could not have been uploaded at a better time! I have been in the process of gathering parts for my first build (am using the MSI B550 and Ryzen 5 5600 for my setup!) and am just now able to start. I have been suuuuuuper nervous (but also very excited)! Thank you for taking the time to make this--looking forward to watching and learning more! 🙏🤘✨️
This is just wild. I am about to build my first PC in over 4 years and you just happened to use the exact case I chose. This guide will definitely come in handy. Thanks for your attention to detail.
Hi all. This is my first build in over 4 years. Specs: AMD Ryzen 5 7600 CPU MSI B650M-A WIFI MB CRUCIAL DDR5 4800 2X8GB RAM MSI RX 6600 8GB VIDEO MSI MPG A650GF 650W PSU PHANTEKS G360A CASE SAMSUNG 990 PRO 1TB NVME I plugged in the power supply cords I needed. I installed the CPU on the Motherboard and installed it in the case. I installed the RAM and NVME. I connected all fans and power connections to the Motherboard. I then plugged in the PSU and...nothing. No LEDS or RGB on the board...PSU didn't turn on. I checked all the connections multiple times...nope. I took out the PSU and connected it to another system and it fired right up. I haven't installed the GPU as I wanted to check the power first. The only thing left is a bad MB...thoughts please.
I just built my first pc. You helped me along the whole process. From pc part picker to assembly. First time POST! Got my bios updated and I'm installing windows now. Thank you Jason!
One of the things that helped me build my first pc was looking at guides and downloading the motherboard manual and reading it while parts are on the way, figuring out which wires are used and what goes where As such, my advice for everyone is to read the motherboard manual in advance, as well as watch a guide like this. Also, as Jason said, extra thermalpaste won't hurt. I messed up installing cpu cooler and had to wait for thermalpaste to be delivered. Edit: Also, if u have the case already, familiarising urself with it is worth it. Maybe even preplanning cable management (I did this and it sped up my pc building by a mile). My noob self spent a full half an hour at least figuring out which wire in my case was for argb (had to disconnect from pre installed hub and plugging an adapter >.>
Excellent as always. I followed your advice before Christmas and me and my son built his first gaming PC in a day. The only thing we found to be tricky was installing the fiddly cables on the motherboard and tidying up the wiring of the rgb fans. One word of advice with AMD: if you install the standard Wraith fan don’t throw the retention bars away! I did and when - this week - we came to install a liquid cooler I found that it would only mount on the retention bars.
@@PCBuilderChannel No thanks, to you, my son was purely interested in gaming, now: he’s researching motherboards, RAM, monitor refresh rates and the like. Also his friends are asking him about building a PC. I suspect he finds all this as interesting as gaming. That’s no bad thing. So thanks again.
I'm saving up to $800+ to build myself a gaming pc, so I need this video and thank you for these tutorials and the time you take out of your day to teach us rookie PC builders on how to build a PC without breaking anything
Great timing! I went from upgrading my system to building a new system with all of my components arriving today. My last build was three years ago, but my first was around 25 years ago with an AMD K6-2.
This channel is underrated af. Whenever anyone asks me for information on PC building, this has become the first channel I recommend for beginners. For more experienced builders, I point them to Gamer's Nexus, but those are my two biggest recommendations at this point.
Solid guide and another great video! Step 7 triggered some PTSD; I upgraded my PSU (Core Reactor 750) last year, and trying to install the EPS cables without removing the motherboard was an expletive-laden nightmare. The 270-degree turn at the ceiling was just awful, largely because of the VRM heatsinks. Worse yet, I installed the wrong 4+4 cable and it wouldn't POST.
So glad we could help! I actually started this channel when I came back to building after a break and wishes there was a channel that could catch me up!
@@PCBuilderChannel Your videos are amazing, very helpful and objective. My build (essentially Ryzen 7600 on a Gigabyte B650M DS3H mobo with an RTX 4060 card) turned out very stable, no issues, and I did it all by myself with YOUR help. Thank you! 🙏🏻
My suggestions: 1. Before I begin assembly, I place a large beach towel on my desk and a second on the floor where I'll be standing. I use masking tape to secure them. These towels ensure that if I drop a screw or small part, it won't run away and hide. 2. I test components' fit to check the length of their power/data cables, so I know they will reach their corresponding pin connectors. 3. I install cables to the top MB connectors before I install the MB. If you use an AIO radiator at the top of the case, it can be hard to insert the cables afterward. 4. I use small adhesive labels on the ends of the cables to indicate what the cable is for. 5. To prevent the over-tightening of screws, I use a torque screwdriver. Mine is an EK-Loop Torque Screwdriver with a 0.6Nm force rating. It produces a 'click' sound when it reaches the proper torque. 6. After purchasing my components, I leave everything in the box until it is installed. If the box is opened before you build, the PC parts can be lost or mixed with other components.
Built a computer with my 6 and 9 year old. Sure I’ve built pcs and even didn’t for a job 15 years ago.. but this guide was a perfect reminder of all the steps to save me time and give us a great first experience as a family!
I've never owned my own PC in my life. Grew up in an "anti-tech" household. I'm now 25, and while shopping for a laptop for school, I decided I should just build my own PC. That was 3 weeks ago. I have spent every second of my free time since then learning, at least half of that time on this channel. I then spent nearly **20** Hours assembling it. While I can only post through the motherboard and have some major GPU troubleshooting to do, I have build a technically-functional PC, mostly due to the info from these video. This video and Linus Tech Tips "how to build a PC the last guide you'll ever need" in particular got me through so much of the building process. Thanks for all the help! Hoping to get this gpu figured out within the next few days and be working/gaming soon 🤞 Update: GPU fixed, working on software 🎉
@@alexandrumarin8981 Thanks for asking! I'm working toward a CompTIA A+ cert. I have fallen in love with tech, mainly security. I'm triple booting between 2 windows installations and Linux mint on an external drive, all in this same PC. It took months after this comment, but I have a very functional machine that does everything I want, and once I get buy 1 more SSD, I'll have a backup system with redundancy for everything too. I am looking forward to the day I get to build a PC again (:
@@alexandrumarin8981 @alexandrumarin8981 hello! thanks for asking. I have tried to reply to your comment a few times, but for some reason it won't post! As for not posting through the GPU: I looked around online to find a solution for another day or so, after a full day spent learning a few hours of knowledge (I was in over my head at the time) I got frustrated, took the gpu back out, and looked for problems. Nothing. I was so upset. I put it back together just for storage sake, planning not to use it. Then I found out my particular setup can take up to 5 minutes to post at first, due to a compatibility conflict before updates. So I turned it on planning to wait a full 5 minutes, and nothing to happen. It took maybe 10 seconds and it booted into my buggy bios. I immediately updated it and proceded to spend 3ish weeks tearning my hair out trying to get the gpu to work, but eventually I got it all figured out. Now I'm in the process of switching away from Windows, Linux is better at everything besides video editing, gaming, and a few programs like adobe premire. So I triple-boot 2 installations of Windows 11, and a Linux Mint at the moment. I am extremely interested in cyber security and tech in general now. TLDR; things went very well, I fell in love with tech and then security, currently pursuing a CompTIA Sec+ cert.

I’ve never built a system and just ordered all my PC parts last night!! Thank you so much for this video. I’m filled with a bunch of different emotions right now, excitement, nervousness, eagerness!! I’m anxious because I’ve never done this before but I know I can do it!
How exciting, good luck with the build! And be sure to check out our How To Set Up PC After Build 2023 video for after ;) If you build it, it will run!

Despite building my own PCs for 20+ years (yes time flies 😵) …. I watch these videos now and again as a refresher is always good to keep you on your toes 🥰😇👍. NOTE: check case / cpu fans are aligned to the correct direction for your case design …. Generally front to back airflow (case fan frame 3-4 prong reinforcement bars facing the case rear and the open fan blades at the front).
SUPER HYPED!!! Got all my new parts for my 1st pc build ever! I’ve owned Pre-built gaming systems but always wanted to build one. I basically ordered all of these same parts so it’s awesome to be able to follow along with your help! Thank you for all of your helpful videos and dedication to the PC fandom 💪🏼
I was really unsure about building as a first timer. But after getting into your channel and then watching this one and you said "you got this" it just gave me the push I needed. My case and monitor are on the way and I'm deciding on my final internal components order today or tomorrow. Thanks Jason and the PC Builder team!
I just finished my 3rd PC build. First one was a very long time ago. These last two were much easy. This one was for my 75 yr old In-laws who have been going through a laptop a year. I talked them into letting me build one, so we can just replace components when they break and upgrade when needed. This video helped a lot. I just ran benchmarks and it's just what they need. Nuclear Submarine - Desktop, Raft - Gaming, Surfboard - Workstation.
Thank you so much again Jason for all your content and everything you do for all of us!!!!!! I'm ready and waiting for the after you build setup guide. I'm absolutely sure it will be another glorious goldmine of information and help!!! Thank you SOOO MUCH again!!!!
A few months ago when I built my first PC I had to perform a BIOS flashback. It went fairly well other than my Asus ROG Z690-F motherboard wouldn't take a 8GB 3.0 USB stick for the BIOS flashback. I had to order a 2.0 USB stick from Amazon since all my local stores only had 3.0 USB sticks in stock. So that part was fun, but thankfully everything else went smoothly after that.
@@PCBuilderChannel thanks. It turned out to be quite good. I do have one question though. I have a lian li 216 case and it's amazing. There are 2 slots for fan at bottom of the case. Would I need to put fans in there too? To further cool my gpu. I have 2 fans at the front I think those are 160mm (intake), 1, 140mm at the rear (exhaust) and another 2 fans on top (exhaust). Do I set the bottom fans intake?
Watching Jason I got really into building PCs just recently. I WISH i could have him as a teacher. I had a lot of fun just by putting my fans in my humble PC.
I have been looking for a tutorial like this literally all day, thank you, i find so few videos that actually explain things like this that i have to favorite them so i dont lose them
This video helped so much, new to building and just got brand new pc all the other videos I’ve watched skipped a lot of the important steps you showed and nearly costed me my pc so thank you
Just bought all my components and I am now just waiting for them to arrive so I can start building! This is gonna be my first ever PC build so thanks for making this guide just in time!!!
I've just started out on my journey to building my first gaming PC. I've always loved PC gaming over consoles, but could never afford a good enough machine to play anything current on. I've been doing research on whether I want Ryzen 5 or 7, i5 or i7 (or Ryzen 9? Or i9?), which GPU for my budget and what I want exactly (or how much longer I'm willing to save!) and of course looking into everything else from motherboards to RAM, cooling solutions, and cases. Your channel has been an invaluable resource for me. Between you and Gamer's Nexus, I'm making steady progress on 4 possible builds (thank you, NewEgg, for the build list feature!). So, thank you for all the work you put into how-to and compatibility videos!
I think for first time builders its always a good thing to connect the mobo with CPU/GPU/RAM and CPU cooler attached to make sure your build posts. If so then drop things into the case. Better than having to pull everything out if you cant figure out why it wont post. I always remember my very first build i had a bad mobo and i was glad i figured that out outside of the case rather than tearing it apart.
Love to hear this, you've broken the PC Building seal--very exciting! Check out our How To Pick PC Parts 2023 next to help you figure out what's next :) best of luck!

I have been building computers for a long time and one of my grandsons wanted to build one by himself. Also, I have watched many videos about pc building. I think that yours are excellent for both experienced and new builders. So I sent him a link to this video. I don't do much subscribing, but I just subscribed to your channel.
Hello Jason First time building a PC and your video was instrumental to my success. I got a 7700x and a 7900 XT the visual Fidelity is insane. Thank you
Thanks for the encouragement at the beginning! It's been a decade since I built one (have replaced a few pieces here and there). I had a not great experience with my first one before that in college (never got it working, even with IT pros testing everything and checking my work), and the same issue when I tried the 2nd time (but was able to figure out on my own what it was that time around; had to do with my case- was the same case both times, but more info online to help), so I was anxious. I wasn't too concerned about putting the parts together, just about making sure all the connections were right and getting it to post that made me drag out my PC build from early Dec to today. Got the last few parts put in and connections made last weekend and watched this (to double check my own work) and the after build set up video before taking a deep breath and booting it up; it worked! I just had to figure out some drivers to get online with it to finish setting it up. :)
Thank you for the content! I've just built a new setup this January. First of all, cant express how much a decent case helps with the process (I had o11 d evo) Good reminders about peeling off a plastic from m.2 heatsink, and taking off a pci-e slot cover from GPU. I built around 10 PCs for the last 3 years, and derped and forgot to do both couple times :) Also some basic advice that could be useful as well: - Be sure to prepare flash drive with BIOS beforehand, if you are upgrading your only system (might seem obvious, but I actually had friends, who didn't realize that and came to me for help) - If your motherboard has BIOS Flashback you might as well do that every time before assembling your PC regardless of whether it posts or not. More often than not your MB will have outdated BIOS, so why not take it off your mind right away and chill. - If you have CPU with in-built graphics you can try first post w/o discreet graphics card to confirm everything works. Especially for beginners. It takes like 2 more minutes, but it either ensures that everything works w/o graphics, so if it does not post with graphics you've already narrowed it down to one issue. Or if it actually does not post w/o graphics, you wont be scared as much as in another scenario (because graphics is normally the most expensive part, and you might instantly think there's an issue with it) - If you have many case fans, think which ones will be intaking air, which ones exhausting, and how you will set them up before putting everything else inside the case. You might not have enough space to maneuver if you have already installed everything else If you have AIO: - If you have a complicated AIO assembly, or any assembly in your case, and you wont to try a first post before put everything into a case, you could put AIO WITHOUT thermal paste, so you dont need to re-apply it in case you end up needing to remove the pump from CPU for some reason. There will be enough contact even w/o thermal paste for your CPU not to overheat for a few minutes. - Decide which side you want your tubes to go before installing the radiator for AIO. - Make sure you place the radiator the way its tubes contact is at the same level or above the pump (e.g. either orientation at the top, or tube facing top for a vertical mount, don't mount radiator at the bottom, even if the case allows it)
@@cjyy6290 could be fine if you have double-fan setup (like 2-3 fans each side of the radiator), but yes, why overcomplicate, easier to just avoid this configuration

😵💫 ngl, out of all the tutorial videos I've watched - this one _does_ make the most sense so far, but I'm just too stupid to wrap my head around all that terminology honestly. It's like hearing a different language. Hopefully it'll start making sense one day lol. But yeah, this was a good tutorial. Even though all the words overwhelmed me, I at least understood like 90% of the basic set up process, so great job man.

Thank you Jason for a very helpful and current guide! Just built my first gaming PC and I rewinded your videos countless times😂. Can’t wait to get the second part of set up done!
Thank you for the video and information! This is my first time assembling a PC on my own. Over the years I've upgraded a GPU or SSD drive on my own. But I've always paid others to assemble or purchased pre-built systems. Looking forward to a new experience and learning tips and tricks. Last PC was from 2017 so I'm excited for an upgrade to a 7800X3D, 7900 XT GPU.
Great video the only thing I could add is before you hit that "power button" go over every wire and connector you did and that power panel especially. Don't do this if your in a rush take a day and chill out and its so much more fun.

Great content!
I'm literally sitting at home, waiting for my components to be delivered (only the motherboard has arrived so far). My last build was 7 years ago so this video was perfectly timed!
Exciting!! Best wishes on your build!
Very excited for you man. Im building my budget before start with ordering😄😄😄
Same here, but the opposite. Everything except the motherboard has arrived. :D

I want to try and build but to scare n worried if i messed up 😅😢, good for you girl, proud of ya

Better Call PC Builder!
Right😂😂
I was thinking that too haha
I'm typing this comment from my first ever PC that I built with the help of this video - thanks Jason! (it POST on the first attempt 😎)
That's so exciting! Congrats on your build!! Thank you for letting me and thank you for supporting the channel we appreciate it
Same! BIG Jason fan
Jason, How little can you spend to build a dedicated pc to play sim racing (iRacing) only. It needs to meet or exceed all minimum specs on a curved monitor in 1440. If of course you wanted to spec out multiple resolutions etc...........
MONEY
Thank you so much for watching. And congrats on your new build, very exciting!
I got this!
I can only imagine the rush of adrenaline and shock when the CPU popped out LOL
I just built a new pc the first time in 10 years. I watched several videos, only Jason gave the tip to plug in the EPS cables before putting the board in the case. That tip is golden.
So glad to help! Thanks for the feedback it means a lot
@@PCBuilderChannelwhat’s your opinion on static mats or bracelets? Do I really need something for grounding is it that much of a risk for static?
Good tips.
I might add : if you're flashing the BIOS, make sure to use a smaller (4/8/16GB) USB stick with flashing led.
I lost two days thinking my motherboard was dead
but it was just a dodgy USB stick that the BIOS for some reason was rejecting.
Good tips!
This is exactly what I was hoping for! I definitely feel more confident in building my computer. I have 4 more parts to get. I’m still lost on what to do after you build, so I can’t wait for that video!
Compared to how nerve wracking some of this can be, that part is absurdly simple.
Wonderful! So glad we can help!
@@TotemoGaijin Yeah, because regardless of what you do software-wise you can always restore it to the initial state, while with hardware you can actually break something

I have been suuuuuuper nervous (but also very excited)! Thank you for taking the time to make this--looking forward to watching and learning more! 🙏🤘✨️

Same bro, same. We moving up! Soon!
This is just wild. I am about to build my first PC in over 4 years and you just happened to use the exact case I chose. This guide will definitely come in handy. Thanks for your attention to detail.
Glad we could help, and good luck with the build!
Hi all. This is my first build in over 4 years. Specs:
AMD Ryzen 5 7600 CPU
MSI B650M-A WIFI MB
CRUCIAL DDR5 4800 2X8GB RAM
MSI RX 6600 8GB VIDEO
MSI MPG A650GF 650W PSU
PHANTEKS G360A CASE
SAMSUNG 990 PRO 1TB NVME
I plugged in the power supply cords I needed.
That's amazing, congrats on your first build! Love to hear this--if you build it, it will run :)))
One of the things that helped me build my first pc was looking at guides and downloading the motherboard manual and reading it while parts are on the way, figuring out which wires are used and what goes where
As such, my advice for everyone is to read the motherboard manual in advance, as well as watch a guide like this.
Great tips!
Awesome! Congrats on your builds and thanks for sharing!
Awesome! You've got this! Just need a reminder and a quick update on the current parts. Good luck on the build!
Sounds very familiar, my first PC had an AMD K6-3
This channel is underrated af. Whenever anyone asks me for information on PC building, this has become the first channel I recommend for beginners. For more experienced builders, I point them to Gamer's Nexus, but those are my two biggest recommendations at this point.
Thank you! That's a huge compliment and I appreciate it!
Thanks Brough! Yep, we've all been there for sure lol
Thank you!! This was extremely helpful. It's been 25 years since I last built a PC, and a lot has changed 😅
Thanks for sharing!

Hoping to get this gpu figured out within the next few days and be working/gaming soon 🤞
Update: GPU fixed, working on software 🎉
Hey man, did you get it all working? Cheers for the inspirational story!
@@alexandrumarin8981 Thanks for asking! I'm working toward a CompTIA A+ cert. I have fallen in love with tech, mainly security. I'm triple booting between 2 windows installations and Linux mint on an external drive, all in this same PC. I am looking forward to the day I get to build a PC again (:
An are you going to install the Linux open source software?
@@alexandrumarin8981 @alexandrumarin8981 hello! thanks for asking. I have tried to reply to your comment a few times, but for some reason it won't post!
As for not posting through the GPU:
I looked around online to find a solution for another day or so, after a full day spent learning a few hours of knowledge (I was in over my head at the time) I got frustrated, took the gpu back out, and looked for problems.

I've just started out on my journey to building my first gaming PC. I've always loved PC gaming over consoles, but could never afford a good enough machine to play anything current on. I've been doing research on whether I want Ryzen 5 or 7, i5 or i7 (or Ryzen 9? step 1: money
Step 2: build it (make sure you went to shcool)
😂😂😂😂
Step 3: pray it turns on
Real shit
step 4 boom
I think for first time builders its always a good thing to connect the mobo with CPU/GPU/RAM and CPU cooler attached to make sure your build posts. If so then drop things into the case. Better than having to pull everything out if you cant figure out why it wont post. I always remember my very first build i had a bad mobo and i was glad i figured that out outside of the case rather than tearing it apart.
Step one: Acquire a cat.
Step 2 name it bear
step three hope that there will be cat in this video i forgot their name sadge

Awesome video! Looked up step-by-step PC build and most were 1hr+ long, while this hit all the essentials in
That's great to hear! Thanks for the feedback and so glad we could help
thanks, helped immensely to fresh up on how to build a pc. been 7 years since last time.
Glad I could help!!
This was incredibly helpful yesterday as I built my custom PC. Thank you!!
That's great to hear! Congrats on your build and so glad we could help!
Thank you for the content!
I've just built a new setup this January. First of all, cant express how much a decent case helps with the process (I had o11 d evo)
Good reminders about peeling off a plastic from m.2 heatsink, and taking off a pci-e slot cover from GPU. I built around 10 PCs for the last 3 years, and derped and forgot to do both couple times :)
Also some basic advice that could be useful as well:
- Be sure to prepare flash drive with BIOS beforehand, if you are upgrading your only system (might seem obvious, but I actually had friends, who didn't realize that and came to me for help)
- If your motherboard has BIOS Flashback you might as well do that every time before assembling your PC regardless of whether it posts or not.
Or if it actually does not post w/o graphics, you wont be scared as much as in another scenario (because graphics is normally the most expensive part, and you might instantly think there's an issue with it)
- If you have many case fans, think which ones will be intaking air, which ones exhausting, and how you will set them up before putting everything else inside the case. You might not have enough space to maneuver if you have already installed everything else
If you have AIO:
- If you have a complicated AIO assembly, or any assembly in your case, and you wont to try a first post before put everything into a case, you could put AIO WITHOUT thermal paste, so you dont need to re-apply it in case you end up needing to remove the pump from CPU for some reason. There will be enough contact even w/o thermal paste for your CPU not to overheat for a few minutes.
- Decide which side you want your tubes to go before installing the radiator for AIO.
- Make sure you place the radiator the way its tubes contact is at the same level or above the pump (e.g. either orientation at the top, or tube facing top for a vertical mount, don't mount radiator at the bottom, even if the case allows it)
And don't mount Aio at the front of the case for air inflows. Did it and it was bloody nightmares for my PC temp
@@cjyy6290 could be fine if you have double-fan setup (like 2-3 fans each side of the radiator), but yes, why overcomplicate, easier to just avoid this configuration

Amazing! Best wishes on your build!
I'm building my first true PC and you've helped me the entire way. Assembling starts Thursday and I can't wait!
Earned all the likes and the sub
Congrats on the first build, good luck! Thanks for the likes and the sub, welcome to the channel!
Good timing of the video, thanks. Ordered MB, CPU, RAM, PSU yesterday and scratching the head on the PC Case!
Wonderful!
Thank you. This is giving me the confidence to do my first build.
So glad! You got this!
It’s a lot I know! Glad this is helpful. If you haven’t check out our PC Parts Explained 2024 video maybe give that a watch. It’s a nice general overview of terms
@@PCBuilderChannel hey, ive not built a pc before and am wondering. ive got everything from pc part picker but do i need any extra things? like extra cables or that. also with the ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III 360 A-RGB 48.82 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler would i need any extra stuff. just wondering.👍
Love just playing these vids in the background when I do data editing at work.
Love to hear it :)
About to do my first build for me and my brother. Grabbed that screwdriver, thanks for the abridged guide.
Awesome! Hope your build goes smoothly!
About to build my first gaming PC using this video. Wish me luck!
Love to hear it, good luck with the build!
I’m going to be building myself a computer next year so reckon I’ll be back here a lot!
Amazing, 2024 for the win! We'll be here to help :)
Thanks, Jason! It's been nearly a decade since I built my last desktop. This helped a lot. I pooped myself when flipping on the psu then remembered 5 minutes later that you need to press the power button LOL. Been using a laptop for a while
haha! Ive been there too. So glad this was helpful!!
I love how you cover all aspects in depth of PC building for all budgets and components. Such a big help, greatest tech advice on the platform!
Thanks so much! Happy to be able to spread some savings and some learning. And thank you for watching.
have been building my own pc's since the 90's and everytime i am equally at loss. and it does turn out fine. so this is for not being at loss. i am gonna assembly without having to tear up.
You've got this! Good luck with the next build!
Just like a lot of people here, my last build was 20 years ago 😂. Watched this video and the 7600 build to put together a mid-high end build. Can't wait to try to build it following this. Appreciate the video!
That's awesome! Best wishes on your build!
Thank you Jason for a very helpful and current guide! Just built my first gaming PC and I rewinded your videos countless times😂. Can’t wait to get the second part of set up done!
So glad we can help!
I've disassembled and reassembled my old pc, I think I am fine for now 😎
Thank you so much for this! I've been trying to decide about doing a build and this helped. :) Computer building - here I come.
This is what we love to hear! You're very welcome, good luck with the build! If you build it, it will run :))
So happy to help! You got this!
Great video the only thing I could add is before you hit that "power button" go over every wire and connector you did and that power panel especially. Don't do this if your in a rush take a day and chill out and its so much more fun.
Good tip!!
