Hey Jason, I have a (2) Part Question here for you: Part 1: In my 'Main Gaming PC': Gigabyte B450 AORUS Elite V2/with the New RX7600XT GPU, my Plan is to Upgrade the CPU from a Ryzen 5 5600X to a Ryzen 7 5700X 3D & Swap out the CPU in the other Gaming PC,(MSI B550 Gaming Gen 3) a Ryzen 5 5600, for the Ryzen 5 5600X. Part 2: Also in Gaming PC 2, I'm going to Swap Out the GPU: RX6600 Eagle for the RX6600XT from Gaming PC 1. So my question is: Will the Proposed Upgrades to Gaming PC 2 yield any significant Performance Increases??
@@michaeloneill1360in your 2nd PC no. You'd be better off not getting a new CPU and using that money to better upgrade your GPU.

Thank you for the great feedback! It means a lot and best wishes on the new build!

Started getting to build my own first PC, bought rtx 3060ti 8gb (I know 8gb wont hold that much, but i got it cheap and available at that moment and I only play mostly PC gacha games) since last year still sealed, and about half of PC component already bought, I hope before June I can finish my very first PC.
Love your channel, thanks for the video!
Hows the PC now that its July?

So glad you are enjoying!!
I literally built my first pc with his advice. Although I need to buy a better gpu. Because I have not been happy with the prices until just recently. Now I’m seeing some 4080 supers at msrp and several rx 7900xtx dropping to 900 ish with coupons or special deals.
He’s got a graduate degree too so you know that you are getting top notch content.
@@thehimself4056 he simplified it so I could understand the gpu and cpu basics so I could pick up some momentum to get started. Before I started, I was so overwhelmed and didn’t know where to start. Best place to start. “ there are basically only 2 companies that build gpu’s, nvidia and AMD”
I know already everything about this, but i still love to watch how you explain it.
Thank you for watching! :)
On the miscellaneous parts, I think it would be nice to have a series about not so discussed topics such as PCIe adapter such as WiFi cards and capture cards, specific use of ports that are not often used such as Thunderbolt, or how to use USB 3.0 header for front IO USB Type C using an adapter, and etc.
flawlessly explained pretty much everything abt pc gaming as of 2024, insanely informative vid, props!
thank you so much!
Hi Jason. Thank you so much for all the great information you provide through your videos. You helped me build a gaming PC based around a Radeon Red Devil RX 6700 XT that I was gifted by my nephew. It took about 2 months to part everything out for this build and I could not have done it without your help. It's an amazing build that I primarily use for X plane 12. Thanks again !!
Amazing! Congrats on your build and so glad we could help!
This guys a YT genius. Create a comprehensive list giving us the quick and dirty facts of what we were looking for and then giving us quick links to his other niche videos to help us with the specifics, turning 1 viewed video into several. The content is quick and simple enough that I actually went to his linked videos to help me with my first PC build so I dont screw it up.
So glad it was helpful! There is method to our madness (;
Where is my cool cat? Thanks for what you do I seldom subscribe to anyone on U-Tube but you are one of the few that has something worth listening to but you sir are definitely one of those worth watching and listening to!!! Thanks again, Maxwell
Thanks so much Maxwell! And if you watch closely he's actually behind the boxes on the left side early in the video, you can see him pop up to use the PC behind me as a scratching post lol. Don't forget we have the channel member livestream today at 1pm EST if you can join!
18:15 Got a Chenbro 2U. Best decision ever. Slim, slides under my desk, it's great.
You’re the only channel that really focuses on throughly explaining what each component does and the different versions/series of components. You can tell someone knows what they are talking about when they’re able to simplify things for the rest of us. Thank you!!! Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much, glad you found this video so helpful! It's why we do what we do :) Thanks for watching!
About 90% done with my build. Posts but gpu issues. NOW this comes out?! 😂 I needed this over the past 36 hours
Best wishes on the build!! You got this!
A very good summary, concise and useful.
While I already have learned from you and others everything you said, it was an excellent summary, and will help me stay focused while imagining builds (I am not ready yet).
I appreciate the way you explain your reasoning, and give alternatives.
Thank you.

Sorry for the timing but glad we could help with your build!
This is SERIOUSLY one of the best guides ever to how to build PC’s. I tried learning about PC’s back in 2020 and it was difficult, but had a video like this existed it would have been so much easier. Truly a great start for beginners and I bet if they watched your playlist they would know everything they need to know and feel confident about how to build a PC that meets there needs
That's so great to hear! Thanks for the feedback it means a lot
Incredibly concise, value oriented and actually helpful to the viewer in 23 minutes. You're on top Jason.
Thank you so much!
Hi Jason :D ! i've been seen your videos for some time now, big thumps up really :)
However I hope you can guide me a little on an upgrade maybe.
Today i have a Asus b660m Tuf + I9-12900k, 32 gigs ram and a RTX 3080 but I am thinking of maybe upgrading to a 4070TI or 4080 Super, but would it be overkill compared to my CPU ?
Also do you have a though of Asus armory crate software ? used it yesterday to install drivers, and apparantly my performance in games like escape from tarkov dropped around 30-40 % :(
Hi Team PC Builder, very nice vid as always! I still like watching those although I build my PCs for 20 years (ofc there is still much to learn sometimes).
I was wondering, have you considered uploading in 1440p at some point? I dont know if it has a siginficantly higher workload for you, but it would be really nice to watch your videos in 1440p imo.
We have considered it and may indeed start in the future!
I'm last to the race and stumbled onto your channel. Great, simple and to the point content. I'm binge watching your previous videos so I can build my own PC. 👍

@@MrAnimescrazy 7800x3d, 32/48gb 6000 RAM, 4080 super. Motherboard, Case and Power still thinking about what to get.
@jodiepalmer2404 that is a nice high end build and a huge upgrade. I have my first all white high end build with the gigabyte aero oc 4090/ 7800x3d/ 64 gigs of ddr5 ram in the white phanteks nv7 case. I would say first know what size case you want then pick a case from each brand then dwindle the choices down overtime and look at reviews online and youtube. I would say get a b650e or an x670e motherboard. I would get a 2022 or 2023 1,000 watt gold or titanium or platinum rated power supply.
Thank you so so much for these videos Jason. You helped me so much with setting up my first pc build. All the recommendations helped me a lot. I hope im able to get it all running 😅

I have a question , i’m going to upgrade my pc (I got a 1080 z170pro gaming and i7-6700k)but currently I have 2tb hard disk 1 ssd 480 gb where i installed the windows and a nmv2 980 pro that I used for almost all the game.
In the new pc is better to use the 980 pro for windows and use the other 2 storage for gaming or is better to use the 480gb ssd for windows and the 980 pro for games?
Check out our Best SSD for Gaming 2023 video, these days you don't need to partition your storage like we used to.

Happy to hear it! Glad you found this one useful! ;)
Worth mentioning about the integrated graphics processors on the CPU is that they can be a handy backup if your actual GPU fails and you need to access your PC for some critical information, a low intensity task, or to RMA or troubleshoot the GPU.
I've been wanting to get an absolute beast of a PC but I've never built one before. I don't want to risk damaging or incorrectly installing anything so I've been looking at prebuilts. However, it seems all the prebuilts are massively marked up or dont have the components I'm looking for. Your videos are very helpful and appreciate all you do.
Thanks. Building a PC isn't for everyone, and we have a buying guide for the best prebuilt gaming PCs which is linked in the video description with recommendations.

Recently converted a pro-Xbox buddy of mine to PC when he realized Helldivers 2 wouldn't be coming to Xbox.

What are his specs for the pc?
@@MrAnimescrazy purely hand-me-downs:

I'm going back to a classic marketplace build. All used parts. Just picked up an EVGA 1070Ti on ebay (tested great, but has never been taken apart) for 89 bucks! I'm currently scouring for more deals to try and keep this one under 500 bucks. 2 reasons for this build. 1... I'm getting bored and I need a project. and 2... I want an emulation station that is solely for retro gaming with the ability to play some pc games as well for LAN parties and whatnot. I figure 1070Ti, Ryzen 3600, 16GB 3600c18 ddr4, and a 1 TB nvme drive, I should be able to use it for everything that it's intended for.
Sounds like a good build for what you need!
Yooo In PSU segment you legit show my MSI A850GL
I love their yellow connectors for 16 pin cables really nice from MSI that they color code them to know if it's properly seeded

what’s a good amount of cl to have on a ddr5 ram?
I love watching videos like this because I find them very entertaining. I always choose a CPU ( usually Intel) with GPU ability simply because it makes troubleshooting much easier! I find a lack of video output poor unless I keep a stock of spare video cards! 😁😁😁

I will say that I have a 1440p build with a 3080 10gb and I have yet to run into vram issues. Most of the titles that seem to have vram consumption issues are AAA singleplayer ports and I just tend not to play those on release and instead wait for sales, by then they've usually brought the vram consumption down. The type of games im mainly concerned with playing on release are multiplayer games like BG3, Helldivers 2, and Street Fighter 6. I have had no issues with vram in these titles. Take vram concerns with a grain of salt and look at for the types of games YOU want to play. I play several games with very high and demanding graphics and havent had vram issues.
That's good you're happy with your experience and I'm certainly not saying to replace an existing build if you are happy. But for people buying new in 2024 who are about to spend a lot of money on a GPU, I want to ensure they will be able to play all the games they want at the settings they want so its important to warn people about the VRAM issue.
@@PCBuilderChannel that's totally fair, I'd just totally put a used 3080 as a great option, got mine for 440 right after the mining crash and they've only gone down since.
Great video.
Thanks John!
Hey, Jason! Could you create a video where you construct a PC with the NZXT H5 Flow case and in the budget of $1000? I am thinking about building a PC with that case and would want to see what you would do. I like watching your videos and they have helped me in the past.
So Jason doesn't like the NZXT H5 Flow Case because it only come with 2 Fans. I can make a $1000 build for you, I just need to know what you're using the PC for.
I only really need to know what parts I need to buy (I have 0% idea which ones are compatible). I am looking for a Ryzen 7 CPU and quiet fans. I will be using it to develop AI and maybe crypto later, I will need a big GPU.@@kelley09162
what’s your recommendation for an intel k motherboard that’s gonna be used for gaming and video production?
Check out our Best Intel Motherboard video!
I have a personal deadline of June for a personally built pc, and I'm not entirely sure what to look for top performance parts. There's a site that allows you to build a pc but I'm not really sure if what I put was okay, garbage, or good.
You might want to check out our Best Prebuilt Gaming PC 2024 video! You can get much better deals going that route than having a service build for you

Thank you! Appreciate that and so glad we could help
nice video jason! i still got my 7900xtx stuck in thje motherboard with the clip broken and cant take it out lmao
NOoooo! Sending good wishes!
At least you got a good GPU stuck in there and not a gt 730 😅
yeah its a really good gpu its my luck the bad thijng is that is so big that i cant unscrew and take out the motherboard of the case or take it out wich worried me a bit cuz i just bough it last week and a soon as i out it in it got stuck@@Just_MemesYT
@ZG-dh8sp time for you to upgrade lol.
do you need to buy thermal paste when building a new PC? Or does it come with the CPU cooler or something?
Sometimes it does and sometimes you need go buy it separately. See our how to build a pc video for more and for our thermal paste recommendations
Jason, please help, what is the difference with a $300CAD 2k 144fps monitor than a $1000 with similar specs but different brand?
My monitor goes black but it doesn’t fully power off. Is it just overheating? It only does this in the bigger games I play. It cost 400 for 2k 240fps Acer
Sounds like you should check out our Best Gaming Monitor 2024 video for lots on the differences between monitors. As for the doesn't fully power off for troubleshooting I recommend posting to reddit build a pc troubleshooting forum. Its a great resource
what hardware would you recommend for building a PC for editing videos for RUclips with DaVinci Resolve 19? we are on a $1,000 -2,000 budget as always less would be better and we are ok with older parts:)
Check out our Best Builds April video! We have a great premium editing sample rig on there for you.
Any builders still on x570? Wondering if I can run a 4080s and what cpus would be best amd am4. Thanks n great video
You should hop over to our Best Ryzen Motherboard 2024 video
Hi sir
What card you would recommend for streaming and gaming
Rtx 4070 super or rx 7800xt
Depends on what resolution you are targeting and your budget. Check out the second to last video on the channel, its our GPU Market Update and I think that will help
Looking at building a 4080 super + 7900x, but what kind of mobo should I pair it with? Primarily going to do gaming and some Lightroom/Photoshop.
I like that gigabyte always has plenty of USB ports. But the x670e aorus master doesn't have the best reviews.
I get a fat discount from Corsair so I'm getting a 5000d airflow, aio, fans, psu, and ram from them.
I would look at the MSI X670E Tomahawk. It has good reviews and is cheaper than the Aorus Master.
For primarily gaming I highly recommend you consider the 7800X3D with it instead. But check out our Best Ryzen Motherboard 2024 video we are actually launching on the channel tomorrow morning for more on motherboards
good morning Jason and team!
Good morning!
I do video production ( mainly adobe premiere and after effects ) but I'm also a big gamer ( PS5 )... I usually I play FPS and storyline games. So... with that being said what is the best way to build my PC so I can do video production effectively and if I want to stop using my PS5. I can game with my PC build?
The good news is a strong gaming pc is also a strong production pc! Check out our Best GPU/CPU Combo 2024 video and pay attention to the CPU upgrades we recommend if you are planing to use your build for production and gaming
Can you please explain your thinking on why plugging analog audio into the front panel connector is better than the back of the motherboard? Are you under the belief that the HD audio header provides better audio than the standard 1/8" analog Jack built into the motherboard? Or what is your reasoning?
For audio codecs ALC1200 and higher, the SOC has additional signal boost and better signal to noise built in for the outputs to the front panel. Igor's Lab has a whole writeup on ALC1200 vs 1220 that goes over this in some detail if you want a deeper dive.
@@PCBuilderChannel sweet. I will go read up. I have always been under the impression back of the board was better than front panel. Especially on cheap cases that use even cheaper cables wires and harnesses. I will definitely check out grandpa Igor's take. Thanks for sharing.
@@PCBuilderChannel It seems like this is mostly related to high impedance headphones being used with a cap free circuit. - Are we sure this provides a benefit to lower impedance headsets? How does using the front panel connections apply to someone using amplified speakers? Or a device that is better served with a line signal? Like an external amplifier/receiver? the line signal is analog audio and there is only an option on the back shield, unless the 1/8" jack [on the front panel] is one of those that offers/asks what type of device was plugged in.
It might be lost in translation. but Igor refers specifically to "headset" and not all analog audio.
From Igor:
ALC1220:The headphone amplifier on Port-D (front panel) is a so-called capacitor-free connection, which eliminates the need for an external coupling capacitor and ensures less distortion as well as less pop effects. This headphone amplifier at port-D has a rich output voltage of up to 2.1 Vrms and can drive high impedance headphones (up to 600 Ω), which is not possible with the ALC1200.
By the way, now you know why I always point out to connect the headset to the front panel of such boards! In general, however, the three (headphone) amplifiers for the output ALWAYS operate the I/O shield and the front header for the HD car separately, with Port-D always being the front connector. Well, should be. However, I have also had boards in my hands where exactly this was wired incorrectly with the ALC1220 and Port-D remained incomprehensibly unused or was wired at the rear.
It is also a modern chip, whereby it is of course exactly one price and performance class below the ALC1220. The latter can also be used with higher impedance headphones, at least in the front audio, which definitely doesn’t work with the ALC1200.
ALC 4080:
And concerning the capacitor-free port D: Now you know why I always point out to connect the headset to the front panel, if the manufacturer has not provided a fat jack socket for the “special” audio output on the I/O shield! By default, port D is always connected via HD Audio and thus via the front panel. If this is too quiet for you, just test it in the back. One output actually always goes with the 2 volts and the automatic impedance detection.
In general, however, the three (headphone) amplifiers for the output the I/O shield and the front header for the HD car ALWAYS work separately, with the Port-D always being the one with the most bang. Well, should be. However, I have also had boards in my hands where exactly this was incorrectly wired in the ALC1220 and Port-D remained incomprehensibly unused. This is then the motherboard manufacturer’s fault and not Realtek’s.
I'm looking to build a 4k gaming pc this year. Coming from an rtx 2070 build.
I just ordered the cpu (r7 7800x3d) last night. And will slowly be accumulating the parts unless I see and good deals for things.
Nice. Do you need help picking out the parts or does Jason's videos have you covered?
Awesome! Check out our "best builds February" video for a great sample 7800X3D build if that's helpful
Seriously considering the 7900 unless the 9900 gets here fast, can right away get more ram. Handbrake is too sluggish, ffmpeg could use a pick me up.
Then again, new ones are almost here and they come with new platforms with usb 4, still unkown if they tunnel pcie though.
I was wondering how would I go about making a my first custom pc build for gaming(coming from console),art, and animation? To where I won’t have to worry about upgrading parts or having problems?
What's your budget for this PC and are you using Adobe products for Art and Animation?
@@kelley09162 I’m practically working as I go but ik for a fact I’ll be using it for gaming and using programs like adobe after effects, maya, zbrush, csp,Houdini pretty much
@@afklegends151okay.
So how much are you willing to spend on this PC? Once I know I can try and make a build for you.
Sounds like you should check out our Best Prebuilt Gaming PC 2024 video! Any of the models we recommend there for production will do great for this
I did have a quick question that I feel like no one answer what I'm really asking, I bought a msi mag B650 tomahawk and paring a deepcool LS720 SE 360mm, and 5 ID-COOLING XF-12025-ARGB-TRIO 120MM fans so with the water cooler that's 8 fans Total in a phanteks nv5 case, the id-cooling fans looks like I can daisy chain 4 of them to one but idk about the water cooler. That means I would need 3 fan connectors and 3 rgb connectors to the mother board unless I can connect the water cooler and one fan together. But I don't know if I need to buy some kind of a fan connector to make it all work on my motherboard. Someone, please help me, and thank you so much!
So you said you would not recommend a HDD for bulk data storage nowadays, is that because of the potential for it to break primarily? I just bought two 12TB hard drives as a backup to pictures and videos. So if you are not recommending hard drives for bulk storage, then are you paying more than $100 for 10+ tb drives? I'm looking for large capacity, which is more than 10Tb but don't want to spend a crazy amount of money as well
At that more extreme capacity, my recommendation would be to get a network attached storage (NAS) device, which can use arrays of hard disk drives. I would not connect that much storage to a single PC. That is beyond the scope of building a personal PC, but here's something to help get you started www.pcmag.com/picks/the-best-nas-network-attached-storage-devices
Nice video
Glad you enjoyed this one! Thanks for watching ;)
Will 600 rated series DDR5 work with 700 series boards okay?
I really want that 5600 32x2 Gskill set with 28 CAS I saw on Newegg.
Just wondering.
Yes it should
@@kelley09162 Thanks, was wondering if they labeled those as 600 because that's all they had when the modules came out. 🤔
