- This week I present to you the full Drive & Sound of the recently facelifted 2016 / 2017 SEAT Ibiza Cupra, now powered by a 1.8 TSI engine which is delivering 192 hp and 320 Nm of torque (weight: 1.250 kg). And this new engine really adds an amazing character to the car, an extremely punchy one. While the outside exhaust note might sound settled at normal rpms it really punches out a potent noise at the higher revs. Overall I'm already in love with this car and it is my surprise of the year so far. Du scheinst auch Spaß gehabt zu haben ::D Das harte Plastik der Türtafeln fand ich arg bescheiden und obenraus geht der Motor nicht ganz so emotional , aber wenn man dicke Limousinen verbläst, denkt man daran ja nicht mehr 😜
+TheGetawayer Ja, wie schon angedeutet finde ich den Ibiza Cupra echt klasse, die Türtafeln sind sicherlich nicht die Schokoladenseite, aber wirklich gestört hat mich das nicht. Eher, dass die Mittelarmlehne geklappert hat;) ABER, das ist alles vollkommen egal wenn man wie du sagst so ziemlichen jeden auf der Autobahn ärgern kann oder sogar wegzieht, der Motor hat ordentlich Bums und die etwas abfallende Leistungskurve am oberen Ende ist doch Nebensache, schaltet man einfach früher, obwohl man kann das Auto eigentlich überall im 5. Gang fahren;) Traktion is schon Problem wie du sagst, aber wir hatten halt auch beide Temperaturen um den Gefrierpunkt und Winterreifen, bei 30 Grad Streckentemperatur sieht das sicher anders aus. Ich würde mir den Cupra sofort holen, insbesondere weil man damit - erstaunlicherweise - auch 600 km Autobahn am Stück fahren kann und am Ende nicht unbedingt geräderter ist als im S3 etc.
Had a brand new one Dyno'ed and it came out to 206HP and 331NM, so count on more power than 192HP. Typical VW :) Further more did I read that if 99 octane (we have it in DK) is put on, you can add 6-8 HP as well :) All this just plan stock!! :)
Just bought my own last week and waiting for it to arrive in Denmark. :) :) :) Also the 0-100 can be done in 6.0 sec, if you change right! Good job on the video :)
True, I would suggest minimum 98 octan. I prefer the 102 Octan from Aral for my Cupra :)
We only have 99 octan V-power in denmark as the biggest. :-)

Der Cupra ist zwar nicht so hochwertig wie der VW Polo GTI; dafür ist er eben auf das wichtigste reduziert.
Der Motor ist wie im GTI ein Traum und macht richtig Laune !! ;)
Wahnsinn! Die Fahrwerte bei der Leistung. Der lässt ja sogar meinen Traumwagen in der Fahrzeugklasse (Corsa OPC) trotz Leistungsvorteil 'n bisschen alt aussehen :o

Looks great, how was the ESP? I know that you can switch off only the TC, not the whole ESP, so how this worked out for you when you drove it? I'm about to buy one of these :X :) Nice video.

+Ben_Cupra280 7.5 liters is if you drive normally. Once you are on the Autobahn for a longer trip it goes more in the direction of 8-8.5.

@Automann-TV - vielleicht ein kurzes Gesamtfazit zum Auto?! Wie gefällt dir Fahrbarkeit, Verarbeitung und Anmutung im Innenraum, Sound, Verbrauch etc.? :)
Kurzes Fazit: Motor und Getriebe sind erste Sahne und man kann auf der Autobahn und Landstraße wirklich jeden ärgern, wenn man möchte;) Verbrauch geht absolut in Ordnung aber ich hätte ihn unter dem des Corsa OPC erwartet, war dann am Ende doch sehr ähnlich als so um die 8.5 Liter Super bei sportlicher Fahrweise. Die Materialen sind beim Cupra noch wertiger als beim OPC, aber die Passgenauigkeit der Elemente nicht ganz 100%, in Anbetracht der Preisklasse aber absolut akzeptabel.

+Matteo Poni It's great little car that doesn't feel like a small one once you drive it. The sound inside is enhance by a sound-synthezioer but it sounds very good!

Just driven this too, great car although did you feel the gearbox was lacking? i.e. it was far to notchy and the pedals are so far apart, heel-and-toe wasn't the easiest...
At least in my car the gearbox was great. Easy and fast to shift, maybe not a sport transmission but a good comprise for everyday lazy shifting.

+drivelinetime I think the most VW Polo GTI or Seat Cupra driver does not know about double clutching and heel-and-toe. But its a shame from Seat to produce a sportmodel with that pedal configuration. I has actually two Mazda (323BG and MX-5 Sportive) and the Pedal configuration in both cars are great. Is that an important Detail, i think: Yes too.
Hi there, yes I agree the MX-5 range are a riot to drive, just shows power isn't everything! The Ibiza and GTI you drive like a diesel these days, no screaming them out like the old Peugeot GTi's/VW
how would you compare this to a mini cooper s?
Well, I drive the JCW so let's compare it to that one;) The power delivery in the Mini is more linear and at doesn't loose in the high revs. In the mid-ranges the Cupra feels equally fast though. Overall a Cooper S is probably equally fast but the Cupra engine has a bit more character.

Nice video but the driver really needs to work on his gear changing technique. I own a 2016 Cupra so I know there's no excuse for the camera jolting with each change of gear. it's just very poor driving. I certainly wouldn't enjoy being a passenger!

No they don't, the top engine for the non cupra petrol is the 180ps, if they did the 192hp engine in the leon i'd snap it up.

Ive bought a Corsa Opc and im waiting april to get it... Do you pref the Cupra or the OPC ? Wich one has better speed sensation? (sorry for my bad english lol)
+Benj Tt Both cars have something to it. The Ibiza is the better long distance gran truismo while the OPC aims more at the sporty track like experience.

Super_ Leggera Have you ever driven a Volkswagen Polo? That piece of shit is about as interesting to drive as watching paint dry. The Abarth sounds better, looks better, and feels better to go around corners. Not to mention it's lighter. The Cupra, like all the other cars from the thieves over at Volkswagen, is full of fake vents and disconnection from true driving sensation. On paper, maybe the Cupra is better. On the road, the Germans don't even hold a candle to the Abarth.
