One of the reason why I like this game was because of the storytelling based on philosophy and the teaching of Buddhism. Unlike the western concept which often time the characters of the kind are mostly painted as black and white, good vs evil, meanwhile everyone in Black Myth are flawed. Some of the event lead me thinking maybe Wukong does deserve this outcome after I go deep and do all the secret missions and read about the journal. Great video! As an Asian who knows a little bit about Buddhism, I find WK's philosophy and metaphor about good and bad, order and free will, and pushing boundaries to be so deep and impactful
GOTY for me already, no matter it wins or not, I played it to cycle 6 ( played more than 200 hrs) just love the story and the boss fighting ( immersive scenes)
You got me beat by a good 100 hours! 😂 and yes. Even if the awards ceremony doesn’t say it what’s really important is how we as fans, (as a group) but also individually enjoy the game. Glad you’re enjoying it.
Brother, you have finished reading your explanation in its entirety, it was fantastic! At the same time, Wukong's built-in camera function is also very powerful, taking photos at any time during beautiful scenery and battles in the game, as well as using the "see through" expert gameplay during attacks. The action and fighting process is so pleasing to the eye.
People claiming Astrobot as GotY are not real gamers😂they r ameaturs . Only pro gamers know what real deal is the Black myth wukong has set high bars in 2024 gaming. The visual graphics, combat storyline music everything is perfection.
I will say Astrobot looks fun, but I don’t think it’s a hardcore gaming experience for us sweatys. Seems like more of a sit back relax and have some fun kinda game. And we need those to.
Look, I love bmw, and want it to win as well, maybe my favourite game of all time, but just because it's good, doesn't mean astrobot isn't.. astrobot is a milestone on its own man.. grow up and try to compare like an adult would
Agreed on the gameplay. There’s just so much variety involved that caters to all sorts of players. If you are not good at dodging, you can still play it differently and get through and game. So many different builds. So many styles. Each playthrough is unique and up to you to explore.
Yeah, I still can’t believe that some people feel the gameplay shallow. The only thing I can think of is due to the lack of handholding that the game gives you with regards to explaining how to play it, certain people just didn’t understand how to get into the more enjoyable part of gameplay. I feel bad for them because they’re missing out.
Yeah, playing it through again has continued to be enjoyable. And I’m picking up on so many different things. I didn’t see at first that elevate the story even more.
About the gameplay: Many players don't know how to use the See through skill. This is the most fun part for me. And about the Story. I agree that you can understand the basic story line without knowing much about Journey to the West. But if you really want to FEEL the character's emotions and the story, it is better to read Journey to the West or watch the explanation videos. What made this story so interesting is that it contained not only the original JTW story, but also included the Dao and Buddhism's philosophy debate through out the Chinese history. There were several dynasties in which the emperors killed Dao and upheld Buddhism as a the national religion, and several other emperors did the opposite thing to kill Buddhist monks. The gods in the celestial court are the Dao Gods, and Buddhas are not a part of the Celestial court. They have common interests and they don't always in the same boat. There was a scene in the game, where the baby Buddha was talking with The old man in front of the painting(the Erlang's hidden entrance), they were actually debating about Destiny. Daoism thinks that everyone has a settled destiny. But Buddhism's ideology is that things change all the time and the world follows the Karma. If you know something about Erlang's relationship with Wukong in JTW, and know those hidden bosses. Then you could guess it by yourself, that the whole thing was planned by Erlang, including Wukong's death and reborn, and collecting all the relics. And if you checked the character codex, you will know that the baby Buddha was helping Erlang and Wukong. Knowing these, it will wake your interest to know what the Buddhas want from Wukong. It was the Guanyin Buddha (black wind sage's master) who put the circle on Wukong, now the baby Buddha was helping Erlang and Wukong to get rid of it. It was the Baby buddha's doing that he secretly allowed Yellow Brow to disguise himself as the Baby Buddha and mess around. So that Wukong has a chance to get the relic from Yellow Brow. What are buddhas up to? I guess the DLC will reveal it.
I also agree that having that extra knowledge from journey to the west definitely elevates the story. And it seems like it will make the emotional parts more meaningful as well. Wow that is a really detailed explanation. Thanks for writing that. I didn’t know a lot of that stuff. I’m looking forward to the DLC
I liked the fact you appreciated the stories from the cut scenes. I think the animations really elevated BMW's value. I do not have the game and only watched others play on youtube. I really enjoy the music and stories from each chapter.
That would be hard though. The amount of things happening in the animations at the same time is insane, probably 20 times more actions than a typical anime. The true ending animation from what I’ve heard took over 2 years to make.
I totally agree . This my Goty. I'm not big into souls games but i was so in love with this game i just had to buy it and had so much fun while trying to get good and im actually at the final boss now. Ill keep trying to beat him but i feel accomplished getting to the final boss because the game was pretty hard. Love this game
Stuck there myself. I don’t want to look up a cheese video but I might have to. I beat every boss legit including Yellow Loong but this guy has humbled me so far. The spike in difficulty is insane and rightfully so
Finally beat the final Boss. This is the hardest game I've beaten and now I want to try and get better with souls games. I'm 5 hours into Lies of P and really enjoying it even though I find it harder because the parry has a really short window. But later I really want to play Elden Ring. Always found it beautiful but didn't want to deal with the difficulty
Congrats to Black Myth Wukong, also Game Science for winning "Golden Joystick - Ultimate Game of the Year"!Chinese culture is now famous all around the world!🏅🏆 I really respect Golden Joystick rather than TGA!💪🏻
@@aarondowning5791well to start it wasn’t bug riddled at launch. But most importantly the devs made a game with the sole purpose of focusing on Storytelling over Anything else. And the other important things too, gameplay, fun, reasonable price, ect. It is not like every other game made these days.
This game is beautiful, I wish you would have talked about the music. Im about to play it soon and I do agree that if you get a recap of Journey to The West. You will appreciate the story more and understand that It's an alternate sequel in a way with chinese mythology. How would you compare this game difficulty compared to fromsoft games. How is it different? I'm sure builds will help. Also, have you played Astrobot? That was my other game of the year.
You know I enjoyed the music when I played the game, but I didn’t realize how much I enjoyed the music till I was editing this review video cause all the music I used in this video was from the game. And so I went through the sound track and there were so many phenomenal tracks in that game. You’re making me regret not talking about the music cause that’s always a huge part of games that I love. I did talk about this a bit in the review. This is the first game like this I’ve ever played. A higher difficulty game that isn’t easy to cheese through. But playing has created a LOT of interest in getting into the fromsoft games and other souls likes.
@VTangNSB the only from soft game I beat was bloodborne, and I played it with infinite health mods lol I didn't like it at all. I get why people are into those kind of games, but the thing I hated most is there's no sense of direction you don't know where to go or what's going on in there. The story it's very unorganized. Plus there are some places you can only access if you Do very random things
For me the combat is more complicated than elden ring, dark souls1-2-3, bloodborne, demons souls. I find myself making a lot more decision in bmw, not just dodge, parry, light or heavy.
Wow! Like I said I haven’t played those yet. But that’s amazing to hear from someone who has. What other decisions are you finding that you make in BMW?
Great video and objective review! 10/10🎉🎉🎉 I'm also a Halo fan. Many of the points you mentioned are very resonant. I'm looking forward to the next Halo game enabling us to regain the joys of our childhood. 😂Just don't know how long it will take......
Thanks for the feedback! And yeah I hope they can recapture the magic in Halo. I will say the Infinite story was enjoyable, but it didn’t fell like a full game. And then when they canceled the DLC it really felt like there was something missing. Hopefully the next game can pick up where they left off and tell an awesome story.
About Bajie English VA, if you see him in person he makes appearances in Dan's Gaming Channel. My favourite is another VA for 2nd Prince and Yin Tiger, they are voiced by same individual. When I see him in Dan's another interview, I thought he was Ben Starr.
Very detailed game review, I love it, hope your channel continue to grow As a Chinese, Black Myth Wukong is a lesson, a reflection to our lives, those deep rooted problems in society, in ourselves that were never uncovered. The government can't compliment this game because of the story telling and what it implies, but also cannot banish this game, so they're in a weird position right now.
Thanks for the kind words of encouragement. Crazy the thing game developers in other countries have to take into consideration. Hope it doesn’t cause the devs any personal issues.
You don't need to have the background of Journey to the west to understand the game but having knowledge of the related lore give it a deeper connection and enhances your experience of the characters. That's all that really means nonetheless you would understand and enjoy the game with the games story alone.
Very true. I started off just enjoying the basic story in the game because I didn’t know too much about the lore, but since then I have dove deeper into the lore and enjoy it even more had you looked into the lore for journey to the west before the game, or was it new to you as well?
"what else are they gonna do next?" they already said it, they are gonna continue the blackmyth series with different characters (similar to darksiders), this was the wukong one
LETS GOOOOOOO! I’m ready for that black myth 2! There was a “surprise later this year” mentioned by the founder of Game Science when they won Ultimately Game of The Year at the Golden Joystick awards ceremony. So maybe they have a look at the DLC already or possibly a super early trailer for the next game. Maybe released at The Game Awards. IDK. Can’t Wait!
Never played souls/souls-likes as well, but gone thru Black Myth Wukong and absolutely loved it. Just for the final 2 bosses it already deserves that GOTY title. The presentation and gameplay are just on another level. But besides these 2, it has over 100 more, where most of them are unique and quite memorable. MH Wilds tho my personal GOTY for 2025 and nothing can top it for sure KEK.
that’s true you don’t really need too know the full story all that well to understand the Games plot or main goal. “monkey goes to get relic, get strong. but.. learning the wukong’s story makes your experience 3 times better! for example did you know that the little boy that shows up in the animation by the end of chapter 1 is revealed to be the Elder jinchi secret boss that you fight after ringing the 3 bells. 🤯! i don’t think there is a Game this whole year that gave me that feeling.
if you ever read the original journey to the west then you realize how many monster or bosses were missing in the game. The story journey to the west Wukong and his team need to go through 81 tests from Buddha to get the the west to meet Buddha.
I’ve been thinking about this so much on my most recent Playthrough of the game, I wish I could understand Mandarin and play this game in original language. I bet that would be phenomenal.
Oh man I was literally thinking about how the build system is like Destiny’s! It’s my GOTY for sure. It’s got an action focused combat system that lets you set the pace of the fight. You can fight both with initiative or you can wait for the bosses to come to you. Not only is the combat deep, varied and interesting, the RPG systems for the builds is so satisfying. The Golden Loong Staff alone made me love Pillar Stance. Finally, yes the bosses are awesome. LOVE the design
I think the game is like a 15 or 20/10 because I'd feel dumb if I called it a 9 or 9.5/10. And so the problems of the game like the invisible walls cancels it out to a 10 or 11/10. I also feel that the game is an experience to learn and understand other cultures and to me and many others learned many things about ourselves
Voice to Txt! This is the place to talk about the game. Part of why I like RUclips is I can talk about the things I love in the comments of videos with like minded people and people who may disagree with me also.
The invisible walls are TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!! They designed the environment so beautifully that it was just c-blocking to not be able to explore it. Thank you for your unbiased review.
😂 L O L that’s a really good way to describe it. If there was one thing I’d like to see from game science in the future it’s allowing us to do more exploration and having a more open world. Of course, if they do, give us a more open world they have to include a map in my opinion. At least in someway. It might not be the normal way where you have access to everything on the map, or you unlock it as you go maybe it is slightly less easily accessible. But a map will be necessary if they go open world.
lol no. I have done some radio commercials before for a friend of mine who had a commercial audio company. But I wouldn’t call myself a voice actor. Thanks though.
I watched all the way through, great review! I only have a PS5 and have waited about 4 yrs to play this; I’ve held off only because of wanting to play it without technical issues that I learned was present in the PS5 version (frame generation). Either way welcome to the joy of difficult games! Really soulsborne didn’t start this (Ninja Gaiden likely did) but just made a different format of action/rpg and popularized it in the modern age. Imo after BMW I would try the og Dark Souls or if you want something more up to date, Sekiro, Dark Souls 3 or Bloodborne. Sekiro would be the closest to BMW as it has a single protagonist with only one main weapon but many skills. All are linear with branching paths. Elden Ring is awesome but deviates by being open world. It would be the next big jump for a player but is fun in its own rights. I cannot wait to play BMW even more now, thanks for the review👍🏾
Great comments to this game, fair and objective. I think this is the game of the year. It is not just a great action RPG game, it also gives a fantastic story. I know Journey To The West, and I think they did a great job to extend the story. It is meaningful and gives me a motivation to play this game. It is not easy to make a game about rebellion and freedom from China.
it has its message. But it does not shove them down our throat. They rather use gameplay and stories to make us think. Like almost every chapter end animation is a story that is deep and make u think what is right and what is wrong. And it does not have a fixed right answer. It is to a degree of zen and philosophy.
I’m sure there are some good game journalists out there. But anyone who plays 25% of a game then complains that there was no diversity in the whole game is not a journalist. That isn’t news. It’s just foolishness.
I honestly got bored with the game. Had some cool stuff, but I get bored with hack and slash games. Some bosses did require some focus, but most I felt I just could overpower through them. The devs made a solid first game and can’t wait to see what they pull next. If they learn from their mistakes, they got potential to make an amazing game. The scene for the end of ch. 3 was mind blowing tho. Deserves some kind of award.
I guess to each their own. But I think of hack an slash games like assassins creed (even though I still enjoy AC games). I just don’t think of this as the same as AC. But yea that chapter 3 ending was awesome. Great commentary on humanity’s relationship with greed. I finished chapter 5 and watched that scene again today. I think that’s my new favorite. It’s quite a lore heavy chapter. I loved it.
there are so many styles you can try . Like they said after watching all these videos of ppl creative way of playing , You felt like you play like $5 less for each new style you havent tried .lol
😂😂😂 yeah. Studios tend too often to focus on the most basic of what makes someone themselves. They don’t dive deeper. Glad they dove deeper in this game.
@VTangNSB Sweet Baby Inc. A consultant company that pushes an extreme DEI ideology over good writing and gameplay. Their CEO, Kim Belair, promotes the use of extortion on companies that don't hire them or similar consultancy firms. She uses the threat of an organized cancel campaign by using game journos and social media to smear these game studios.
The game was fun but my vote goes to FF7. Good story, mini games content, side quest content, music, characters, the game is amazing. Sadly it stuck on playstation which reduced the number of people who got to play it.
Once i have save up like 80 dollar i will support his game. even if it is crack i wouldn't pirate it. cause the company is not woke so i am voting with my wallet.😊
I don’t know. The fact that they added DLC to the category for the first time makes me nervous that they’re going to do shadow of the Erdtree, which just doesn’t seem right.
If you jump into soulslike definintely start with Elden Ring, I only played the first one and was annoyed and then Elden Ring was just too beautiful for me not to try
@gonzoforce3898 Objectivelly they are better but Wukong is close enoughy for it to be preffered by some people. Without the controversy wukong would easely be an 88 on MC that is why it was nominated just like death stranding where haters lowered the MC score average but had enought peoole who loved it.
To me, it was a mid game, does nothing new or interesting, the mechanics are boring, it just copies the souls games. The only thing that makes it stand out at the moment, is the visuals if you are interested in realistic art direction. But definitely a game, people are not going to give a shit about in 5 years.
I saw your comment a few days ago and have thought long and hard about what you said. Now as I mentioned, I have not played the souls games. However i disagree that we can hold against this game the fact that it copies things that came before it. I don’t think that automatically makes a game bad. It’s very important how it copies that thing and if it brings enough of itself to the table. Artist, Famous artists have been copying and taking inspiration from each other for generations. That’s nothing new. And that doesn’t lessen the art of people like Van Gogh, Raphael, and Picasso. So I don’t think it automatically lessens the work of game science (devs) on this game. This game still brings SO much of itself to the table. Things like the story, the visual art style, the gameplay being wholly focused around staff and spear fighting styles because of who the story is about, the fact that it adds on top of an already amazing story and allows us as the players to enter a world that is based off that story. The other thing you mentioned was game mechanics being boring. I covered this in the video, but the game mechanics are varied, and there’s so many different options for gameplay in this game. There are something like 21 different attacks you can do in this game. Many are accessible without any charge. Many require short charges, some require full charges, and very few require charge only built up from active attacks. About 12 of those 21 attacks are available by the middle of the first chapter. And then in replay of the game even more attacks are available that are only unlocked when you play the game through once. That also applies if u play it through multiple times, (even more attacks/stances become available). The game continues to be fresh and new and add despite the fact you may have played it 3 or 4 times over. Now all those attacks don’t even take into consideration your spells, spirit abilities, and transformations. If anyone goes through this game thinking the gameplay is boring I feel bad for them, cause it makes me think they didn’t try out the many options at their disposal to find a fighting style and way of playing they enjoyed. Now I definitely agree with you about the art direction. It’s definitely one of the biggest strengths of the game. But at the end of the day I guess we will see what happens in 5 years. I think this will be a game that is remembered for a long time as one of the greats. I think we will see people with BMW paraphernalia in their homes. I think may people found a new hero they like in this game. But in any case, thanks for the comment. Have a Good Day!
@@VTangNSB i understand there is many ways you can engage with the combat system, but at a core fundamental level, i don't enjoy this type of combat system and that apply to all souls types. My preference, when it comes to character action games, are games like DMC, NIER and BAYO. But i do think you are reading in-between the lines of What i said , because i agree with what you said in terms of ART, there it feels like you responded to something i didn't say. To me the game is just ok, and for others it's amazing. At the end of the day it's all preference.
Just finished the game on the weekend and I can't agree that it is a game of the year contender. It is a good game and I had a lot of fun, but the second half is not nearly as good as the first one. Boss design is a bit hit or miss, difficulty curve is not well balanced. Third of all bosses are first try pushovers, most others are beaten within the first five attempts and then there are some that are just a bit too hard for their placement within the game. But even those are often easy for the first 75% of the fight and then start dishing out immense damage, which becomes tedious on repeated tries, because you have to play through the non challenging part over and over again just to get stomped in the last phase. Storytelling also wasn't that great. Overall a very enjoyable game but with a few flaws too much to consider it great or GOTY.
I appreciate your take. I have heard from a few ppl they felt the beginning was the better area and the ending was more lackluster. I think part of that is because the later chapters do rely a bit more on the journal entries and the end chapter scenes than the earlier chapters do. Like with the Bull King in chapter 5. His story and relationship with Sun Wukong isn’t as fleshed out as the Yellow Wind Sage and his story in chapter 2 is through the cutscenes and dialogue provided as you play through the level. There is more info about him in the end of chapter scene. Also I think the end of the game starts to rely more on the Mystery surrounding the Secret Boss. So automatically certain scenes are not giving you as much as the other chapters were. On second play-through I really started understanding all the mysterious comments made by characters that I didn’t catch the first time. Still I glad you enjoyed the game though.
Compared with other nominations, Wukong is obviously better. Best of the Year is no problem. Because it's so good that you start looking for its flaws. Regarding the shortcomings of the last two chapters, I just feel that it is not satisfying. It should have 13 chapters or even more. Looking forward to DLC.
@@rosurobosu8546nah bro have your say. I understand people have different opinions and I like to hear opposing opinions to mine. That being said if you don’t want to with this being the internet and all, then no stress. I know people can be a bit much on the internet sometimes.
@@VTangNSB it's not like I have an issue talking about it it's just that it usually goes nowhere, but if you are interested I can try to be very concise about it: the main issue is by far that pretty much not a single boss in the game is fun to fight, they all have either phases which force you to stay away for 15 seconds, turn invicible for half a minute or dodge back an enormous distance every time you hit them or they hit you (only letting you use combo starter 1-3), at least 2 bosses can even glitch through arena walls and stay away for minutes, since bosses are roughly 40% of the game, that is a big deal and if 100% of them are not challenging, rewarding or even interesting but nothing but annoying, your game failed completely, even if some movesets (black wind, lightning woman, yin yang) are creative and beautiful. There wasn't a single second I felt enjoyment or even challenge, pure boredom. Other than that, the game has spectacular problems when it comes to performance given its only so so impressive visuals, the transformation skill is outright completely busted with how weak and sluggish it is, most of your other abilities cause enemies to glitch and make 360 turns when they suddenly realize you changed your position, the level design is pure amateurish pain with infinite invisible walls and a nonstop guessing of which is the correct way (not always a bad thing, but here I'd say it is), graphical problems such as pop-in and flickering happen in pretty much every area, etc. I won't run around claiming it's the worst game ever, but a game with 60% exploration, 30% bosses and 10% underpowered weaklings, I'd claim the game failed in all these aspects nigh catastrophically. It gets carried with mysticism, design, presentation and a cool albeit very restrictive moveset in terms of animation, but I'd rather stick to something like Nioh.
The thing is this is what this game is about. Fighting non easy bosses. The focus of the game is the Challenge. And the reward is overcoming the challenge. 😂😂😂 That Tiger is one of the more difficult fights, but I gotta say it was one of my favorites. It’s actually my 2nd favorite fight in the game. Hope you can get past him. Thoughts and prayers go with you.
@@VTangNSB -- eh I'm not the best at these types of soulslike games but I'm also not the worst. I finished Elden Ring at level 220 or something. I shouldn't be continuing to get my butt kicked in chapter 2 when I've farmed up to level 60. The game is broken. I'm willing to bet 80% of players give up on this boss but don't want to admit it. This is definitely not game of the year; it's just a derivative Nioh clone with a fancy paint job.
@@cjlaity1 Considering almost 50% of players already beat the final boss on STEAM (where the vast majority of players are), your statement about 80% of players giving up on this boss is simply not true.
@@Mystic-Dust - lol only 50%, and the game's been out already two months? That means 50% didn't beat it and that's only on steam. That means half the people who purchased it never completed it. Lol. What's your point again?
You did not read my full comment. Merely that you were exaggerating with that 80% not beating that tiger boss. Also Wukong is a soul like game. Most souls like games do not have high completion rates. Elden Ring has been out since 2022 and still has a completion rate of 40 percent.@@cjlaity1
I mention The Invisible walls in the review actually. They were definitely annoying, however I only took half a point off for that fact since the game was never marketed as “Open World RPG”. We wouldn’t complain that a sports game has invisible walls that stop us from being able to run off the field and into the locker room. It’s a sports game we know that’s not a part of it. And this game wasn’t ever said to be open world. With that being said, more exploration and even open world levels like the last chapter is what I’d like to see more of from game science going forward. What was your game of the year pick?
Yeah I understand man. The problem is not the fact that it has invisible walls by itself but you can't say that this game has a good attention to detail when they cant even make an effort of hiding their invisible walls or, even better, to actually care about interesting level design. Most of the FromSoftware Souls games are linear with explorable areas, just Elden Ring is a full fetched open world, but none of those games have this problem. All the levels and areas are masterfully designed in a way that it feels open and limitless but its actually just a very cleverly interconnected area. Wukong is the opposite, you feel trapped in a cage or a very badly designed maze. Dont get me wrong, this game has some cool stuff, specially the combat and the setting but, after playing it, I started to understand why a DLC got nominated as well. Wukong is a pretty but shallow game. I respect your opinion, we all got different tastes but is just that you can't praise something that is not there at all. My pick for this year is Metaphor Refantazio. Honestly a masterclass in level and visual design.

This game is my GOTY. I don't care what the invalid "The Game Awards" says when they give the award to a DLC.

I never been in love with a video before since resident evil 2 1998 I keep playing playing and play so into this games!!
It is a great game. On my most recent play through I was reveling in how awesome the story is. Love it.
Your attention to detail is phenomenal.
Thank you. I’m glad they put so much detail in the game. Turns it into art.
Look, I love bmw, and want it to win as well, maybe my favourite game of all time, but just because it's good, doesn't mean astrobot isn't.. astrobot is a milestone on its own man.. grow up and try to compare like an adult would
Nice vid, man. I'm in agreement. Wukong is definitely GOTY. Also, I see your Enterprise pillow back there.
Yes sir! NCC-1701-D! I love my Star Trek.
Personal game of the year. Still can’t get enough of it even after NG+++.
Yeah, playing it through again has continued to be enjoyable. And I’m picking up on so many different things. I didn’t see at first that elevate the story even more.
i already knew that i was in another spehere when i hit the first meditation spot. nice video bte
Yup that’s one of the main early moments where you get to realize and appreciate just how beautiful this game is.
You spoke my heart! 😆
The game spoke to mine!
The graphics are so beautiful that I'm speechless... I love the expressions of the monsters, gods, etc. It's so awesome it brought me to tears.
It was definitely beautiful to look at
About the gameplay: Many players don't know how to use the See through skill.
That’s a HUGE part of what brings so much heart to this game. It’s a Labor of Love.
Black Myth Wukong is game of the year for sure
Agreed
This is GOTY for the PLAYERS!! Nuff said.
It is as simple as that.
If they ever made a Wukong anime from those animated cutscenes I would watch it every single day
That was some beautiful animation!
That would be hard though. The amount of things happening in the animations at the same time is insane, probably 20 times more actions than a typical anime. The true ending animation from what I’ve heard took over 2 years to make.
@@jackdiao4576woahhhhh 2 years that’s insane
I totally agree . This my Goty. I'm not big into souls games but i was so in love with this game i just had to buy it and had so much fun while trying to get good and im actually at the final boss now. Ill keep trying to beat him but i feel accomplished getting to the final boss because the game was pretty hard. Love this game
Yes. It’s a great feeling. Enjoy that final boss! I think he is the Coolest boss I’ve ever fought in a game!
Great vid! You are better than you thought. Little monkey can level up and your skills can as well.
It was a surprise to be sure. But a welcome one. Glad I could take the heat!
Congrats to Black Myth Wukong, also Game Science for winning "Golden Joystick - Ultimate Game of the Year"!Chinese culture is now famous all around the world!🏅🏆 I really respect Golden Joystick rather than TGA!💪🏻
Yeah. It’s the players voice award.
Best game i have played since Witcher 3 hands down. Nothing even comes close.
Dang! That’s high praise!
Same
This game was amazing from beginning to end for me. This is my game of the year. Can't wait to see what they have in store with the DLC.
Every minute of it is enjoyable.
The game is such a breath of fresh air
It really is! It’s an Oasis in a desert of flops and bugfests!
Really? Why? It looks like every other action game out there really.
@@aarondowning5791well to start it wasn’t bug riddled at launch. But most importantly the devs made a game with the sole purpose of focusing on Storytelling over Anything else. And the other important things too, gameplay, fun, reasonable price, ect. It is not like every other game made these days.
Great review and I couldn’t agree more with you! 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for watching. I’m glad you enjoyed. You must have great taste 😉 😂
such an awesome review done here, every point is right on, subscribed😃
Awesome, glad you enjoyed. Welcome aboard!
Just on point. Awesome video man!
Appreciate it!
I really enjoy this video. Your genuine emotions about this game could be felt in every sentence.
Thank you. Im trying to be as genuine as possible on my channel, so I appreciate you saying that! Have a Great day!
Absolutely great take on the story 👍
Thanks. Glad you liked it.
thanks bro, your review is very detailed and reasonable
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
@VTangNSB the only from soft game I beat was bloodborne, and I played it with infinite health mods lol
I didn't like it at all. I get why people are into those kind of games, but the thing I hated most is there's no sense of direction you don't know where to go or what's going on in there. The story it's very unorganized. Plus there are some places you can only access if you
Do very random things
Great review😀
Thank you. Have a great day.
Amazing video bro
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it!
I love this game. Thank you for the review. I couldnt agree more.😊
Thanks for your time. I’m glad you enjoyed it. I’m looking forward to the DLC!
Great video and objective review! 10/10🎉🎉🎉
I'm also a Halo fan.
Very detail explanation 👍👍👍
Glad it was helpful!
Well said sir, you got yourself a new subscriber.
Thanks Rad! I appreciate you. I hope you continue to enjoy the videos.
About Bajie English VA, if you see him in person he makes appearances in Dan's Gaming Channel.
My favourite is another VA for 2nd Prince and Yin Tiger, they are voiced by same individual. When I see him in Dan's another interview, I thought he was Ben Starr.
WHAT????? It’s the same guy???
Very detailed game review, I love it, hope your channel continue to grow
As a Chinese, Black Myth Wukong is a lesson, a reflection to our lives,
those deep rooted problems in society, in ourselves that were never uncovered.
Best review!
Wow! Thank you.
@30:40 Saiyuki. Journey to the West is on ps1.
This game is forgotten because it is came late on the stage of ps1. It's also expensive to get.
Wow. I didn’t know that.
Monster Hunters is Looking Good! Should be a ton of fun.
A man of culture
Well thank you yourself seem to be a gentleman and a scholar.
that’s true you don’t really need too know the full story all that well to understand the Games plot or main goal.
EXACTLY LASER! It just makes it even MORE meaningful!
if you ever read the original journey to the west then you realize how many monster or bosses were missing in the game. The story journey to the west Wukong and his team need to go through 81 tests from Buddha to get the the west to meet Buddha.
Agreed with your assessment, still waiting to play the game.
As soon as you get the opportunity I’d HIGHLY recommend it. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Enjoy it when you play it!
If you're waiting for Physical it won't be long now. If you're waiting for a sale also shouldn't be long now. Hope you get to play this game soon.
Astro is my goat, but if black myth wins I would still be 100% happy because both are deserving of the position
There have been some good games released this year. Hopefully whoever wins is someone deserving.
great video, and my opinion is the voices of the characters become even more enjoyable if you could understand Chinese.
Yeah the build options are awesome.
That’s a good point. It is definitely a Pro that the game exposes us to other cultures. What a world huh!
My game of the year for sure. It’s so good I could go on and on bout it … but not gonna type it all out. 😆So many great things bout it
Voice to Txt!
Are you a voice actor yourself? You did well haha
Thanks for the view and the info! I’ll keep that in mind when I make the jump. And when you get to play BMW, ENJOY! You’re in for a treat.
whatever ,BWM is my goty.
Excellent pick! DONT forget to vote for it in the Game Awards if you want to support it there.
Black Wyth Mukong.? 😂😂😂Typo right? My GOTY too. BMW.

Well said! I respect ppl willing to say the unpopular things to say.
Rock solid and see through make 100+ bosses no enough, the combat is too much fun.
See through was excellent, but I definitely preferred cloud step over rock solid. I’m more of a mobile player. I like freedom of movement.
My GOTY for sure
Great pick!
it has its message. But it does not shove them down our throat. They rather use gameplay and stories to make us think. Like almost every chapter end animation is a story that is deep and make u think what is right and what is wrong. And it does not have a fixed right answer. It is to a degree of zen and philosophy.
Exactly. It ask a question. It does not tell you what to think. Smart way to communicate ideas.
Game journalist: we played chapter 1, no female, no diversity. So, it's 6/10...
I loved it.
This game is like God of War on steroids.
Another great game. It definitely feels similar to GOW in many ways. No doubt took some inspiration from there also.
there are so many styles you can try . Like they said after watching all these videos of ppl creative way of playing , You felt like you play like $5 less for each new style you havent tried .lol
When it’s a good game, you feel like you get your moneys worth.
It would have gotten GOTY if they made the monkey lame and gay.
😂😂😂 yeah. Studios tend too often to focus on the most basic of what makes someone themselves. They don’t dive deeper. Glad they dove deeper in this game.
Too bad the judges at The Game Awards are the same journos who tried to kill this game for not giving in to SBI extortion.
I agree with you cause contextually I know what you mean, but What’s SBI stand for?
@VTangNSB Sweet Baby Inc. A consultant company that pushes an extreme DEI ideology over good writing and gameplay.
Their CEO, Kim Belair, promotes the use of extortion on companies that don't hire them or similar consultancy firms. She uses the threat of an organized cancel campaign by using game journos and social media to smear these game studios.
@@jatwood9648ohhh yeah I know of sweet baby inc. I’m just terrible with abbreviations.
The game was fun but my vote goes to FF7. Good story, mini games content, side quest content, music, characters, the game is amazing. Sadly it stuck on playstation which reduced the number of people who got to play it.
Everyone I’ve heard talk about it sounds like they really enjoyed it! Nice. There were some good games this year.
Once i have save up like 80 dollar i will support his game. even if it is crack i wouldn't pirate it. cause the company is not woke so i am voting with my wallet.😊
That’s the way to do it! Vote with the wallet.
Nah I suspect GOTY will be metaphor refantizo
I don’t know. The fact that they added DLC to the category for the first time makes me nervous that they’re going to do shadow of the Erdtree, which just doesn’t seem right.
If you jump into soulslike definintely start with Elden Ring, I only played the first one and was annoyed and then Elden Ring was just too beautiful for me not to try
Thanks for the advice! I think I’ll do that.
it was well made but i have a hard time getting onboard voting a boring game game of the year. even if it was really well made.
Why do you think it was boring?
They won't allow a Chinese game franchise to overthrow Eldin Ring
I guess we will see
GOTY
G. O. T. Y!
Yu sud ply in Chineses
I’ve thought that multiple times in my play-through, that hearing and playing this game in my native mother tongue would be awesome.
dont like game science logo
😂😂😂nuff said. We were all thinking it. 😂
Astroboth, Metaphor and Rebirth are better, but I still rather sse wukong win over a DLC
maybe refantazio but the other 2 dont even come close
@gonzoforce3898 Objectivelly they are better but Wukong is close enoughy for it to be preffered by some people. Without the controversy wukong would easely be an 88 on MC that is why it was nominated just like death stranding where haters lowered the MC score average but had enought peoole who loved it.
@@007GoldenLion what kind of brainrot nonesense you are you talking about? BMW beats all those games combined on objective metrics
Yeah a DLC definitely shouldn’t be beating it out. There should be a category for DLCs and Remakes.
Game of the year. Considering the rest of the shit that we got, this is a breath of fresh air.
@@ssdhusg6042interesting
should rather be worst game of the year
Dang!!!! Did you really dislike it that much?
@@VTangNSB personally yes and I could go on a rant - but I'm obviously the minority so whatever ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@rosurobosu8546nah bro have your say. I understand people have different opinions and I like to hear opposing opinions to mine. That being said if you don’t want to with this being the internet and all, then no stress. I know people can be a bit much on the internet sometimes.
@@VTangNSB it's not like I have an issue talking about it it's just that it usually goes nowhere, but if you are interested I can try to be very concise about it:
the main issue is by far that pretty much not a single boss in the game is fun to fight, they all have either phases which force you to stay away for 15 seconds, turn invicible for half a minute or dodge back an enormous distance every time you hit them or they hit you (only letting you use combo starter 1-3), at least 2 bosses can even glitch through arena walls and stay away for minutes, since bosses are roughly 40% of the game, that is a big deal and if 100% of them are not challenging, rewarding or even interesting but nothing but annoying, your game failed completely, even if some movesets (black wind, lightning woman, yin yang) are creative and beautiful.
No way. This is a terrible game. I'm on level 60 and still getting my butt whooped by that dumb tiger. Not fun at all.
在此预言,黑神话也将在TGA上拿goty
Let’s hope our predictions are correct! I’d love to see it win GOTY!
I love the small details like all the invisible walls, surely an obscure reference to chinese mithology. GOTY 🤡
