2024 Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Banshee - Dodge’s First Electric Muscle Car

- Welcome back to the third video this week, Day 3 of Dodge’s Speed Week announcements. Last night was the reveal of the brand’s future electric muscle car, the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Banshee. We know lots of the details now, so we’re going to go in-depth on this car and explore the interior, exterior, performance, features and more! Dodge is trying to create an exciting BEV that’s unlike any other vehicle on the road today, and trying to one up the famous SRT Hellcat in terms of performance.
This is Dodge’s massive step forward towards their electrified future, and with this car they are attempting to change the perception of what a battery-electric vehicle can be. Dodge has chosen the Daytona nameplate once again in the race to be faster, quicker, and more powerful. Daytona makes sense, as that was the first vehicle to break 200 mph on a NASCAR track in 1970. The Banshee name represents the new propulsion system, similar to how the Hellcat and Demon names represented the engine.

Crazy that I come here for all of my mopar news. When I saw the news of this dropping last night I immediately checked your channel because I knew it’d be informative without all of the extra BS and self promotions. Love the work you’re doing. Keep it up.
RIP Hemi 1951-2023. Also good looking concept. 👌
You Wish. Real HEMI's Died A Very Long Time ago from the factory built originals on the showroom floors.
New so called hemi's are FAKE hemi's today & have NOTHING in common with the domed piston, hemisherical head, fire breathing monsters of 60's-71 called The Real true Big Block HEMI'S.🔥
Dodge used the brand name hemi Only to market & sell these fake hemi's of today for alot of money, but have Nothing in common with the Hemisherical Head/Domed piston originals. The hand is quicker than the eye. Alot of folks have been duped!
Have to go to The aftermarket if you want a REAL HEMI designed engine today!
This is going to cost close to $100,000. Its beautiful, but I wish it was a V8, and affordable.
This is the first electric car that didn’t depress me. They are listening, it has a sound, and a transmission, therefore a personality. It also doesn’t look like an egg shell like teslas do. They listened to some of the main concerns car guys had about Evs, and came up with solutions. And I appreciate that.
EDIT: found out the “real exhaust” is actually speakers. They lied to us about the whole resonating chamber thing, it is artificial noise going through a resonating chamber so it’s no different than a speaker to sell us on the idea that it’s genuine sound, and I no longer have any interest in this car for that reason. It can burn with the rest. Let’s go ford
Exactly
This is awesome but they could at least offer some 2 stroke v8 DFI engine options to help with the transition.
Totally agree with u lets go ford
@@alexander_3923 y'all be switching up so fast
@@thouken5777 i have a 392 challenger and had a 5.0 mustang so how im I switching ive always liked ford and mopar
Let me be honest. I'm a Boomer. I've grown up with Dodge my whole life without really appreciating the brand. Four months ago, I picked up a 2022 Redeye widebody which I ordered in November 2021. Since then, I learned that 2022 will be the last Hemi offered by Dodge. I feel so lucky! While this EV looks nice, there's no way on God's green earth it will have the sound -- or feel -- of a Hemi. It's a one of a kind driving experience.
But sadly the Red Eye can not compete with the Banshee. It would just slaugther anything... which kinda defeats the purpose
@@Blacksheepcomics there's more to driving than numbers, RWD V8 is a far more engaging and rewarding driving experience than a AWD battery. Imo
@@Nightshade-dh9fm I agree. You can have a super golfcart that presses you back in the seat but there is nothing like the driving experience of a gas engine and the feel of the road
Good man Dave. Love the smell of gasoline.
Amen and thats why my dad is sticking to his 2019 Charger RT Scat Pack with the 392 Hemi V8 that he bought back in January of 2020.
I've had a 50 year love affair with Doge but, I guess it's over. Well at least for any new Dodge. I still have that 69 Charger RT/SE on my bucket list.
I do wish they provided more info on the future gas cars, but I understand that they don't want to overshadow the final production year for the current cars. It'll prob be another year before we get an official look at those
So if this is the “top of the line” for this model, wonder what the bottom and middle will be like as that’s where most buyers will be looking. Be nice if the offered this with the new 3.0TT and a hybrid motor. No matter what people will love what’s offered or hate it, I kinda dig it.
Pricing is everything for this new venture. Tesla has years in the game and can now afford to haggle due to volumes.
This is trash dodge sales definitely plummeting after 2024
@@kevinsamson1693 Every last comment in your history is hating on this concept. We get it, you hate it, and that's ok.
I don't care for the way it sounds but the aesthetics are good--classic, yet futuristic looking. Let's see what the production model looks like.
would be nice if it had hemi otherwise it's pos
@@V8_screw_electric_cars the hemi may not be thing in a few years, so what’s the next best choice? If ya got a turbo engine that alone makes about 500hp (more then the 6.4) the mate it to a hybrid motor that also make about 200hp your sitting at hellcat numbers. If all your worries about is the sound, record some Hellcats revving and running and play it thru your speakers. I personally don’t care about the sound, I care about the feel.
I really liked the design of it. I am also impressed they didn’t add any blue to it to signify that it’s electric like so many other companies
The design is terrible especially the taillights dodge sales definitely going down after 2024
@@kevinsamson1693 Dodge have made some joke cars in its history. This isn't one of them, this is a high performance machine.
@@kevinsamson1693 tf you on about, this car looks pretty sexy
@@biggthiccc1685 it may look like a 1969/1970 Charger but it's a BEV witch is rubbish
It looks fantastic! And I can't wait to see the production models.
I love it. Certainly exceeded my expectations. High points would be the side profile (taking cues from the 70 Charger) and the front wing. That wing makes it look like something we can identify with immediately yet has to have a major aerodynamic advantage. Love the rear which also takes styling cues from the 70 Charger in my opinion. Interior looks impressive but had limited exposure to it. The exhaust has the sound of a 12 or 16 cylinder exotic instead of an 8 but I can get use to it were I couldn't get excited about an electric whine. Not wild about the wheels but there are anyway different choices anyway. Looks like a vehicle we could afford to drive on a daily basis unlike the Hellcat. Time will tell if they keep all the goodies I spoke of. Now I have a question - What previous concept had a similar rear?
The 426 Hemi Cuda that we only seen a couple of times the rear end of that looks similar to this and I love that car too it's awesome
No it doesn’t it looks like trash and the tail lights are horrible with that fake azz speaker engine
Call the Chinese and tell them how happy you are with it; they will love the batteries they are making for it.
how much do they pay you to write this bs.
66 production fastback charger
Loves the way it sounds. It doesn't suppose to sound like a V8 because it isn't duuugh. It's the future, an that sounds good to me , gives the car a soul
Sounds like an Italian fart can imo not surprising since dodge is European now
I just realized, they got the sound from my Hoover vacuum.
It's awesome 👍 Thanks for the great video Marspeed!
Put a 426 HEMI IN IT ....................
Why the fake exhaust sounds for it? Ford made a mach-e for their racing team that absolutely screams and those sounds are just the six electric motors going nuts. I dont see why dodge can't get the same type of sound.
No clue, not sure if they actually listened to it but it sounds mediocre like a weird turbo engine/V6
@@MarspeedCars so not even trying to sound like a hemi or even something electric. Wow haha
Just listened to the "exhaust", meh definitely not the selling point they think it is. It's interesting, but it's still fake. That's like me puting an amplified exhaust in my SXT to make it sound like a hemi. It's not real. It's litterally a form of admitting what I'm trying to emulate is better than what I have. So in essence Dodge is saying that even a turbo'd v6 is better than having an EV.
That being said I love the design of the car. But I'm against EVs because we arent ready for them in the midwest unless you rarely leave town. I ain't waiting to charge my car in the middle of a trip. I need actual towing capacity, range, and endurance for a truck, so an ev truck wont do. Sure these will work for some people but not if you need to do more than simply go from the same point a to point b everyday.
Imagine if Dodge found a way to make an EV sound just like a Hemi V8
Sounds like a cat dying in a blender and not in a good way. Almost midi-8 bit version. It was anything but impressive to hear.
I absolutely love this car and want to buy it when it comes out. But I am curious to see what the production version will end up being.
Bro dis car ugly, u buy a dodge after 2022 your gonna be clowned on for the next decade
The new Daytona is the best looking EV reveal to date.
Sad times. That would have been great with the next generation of v8’s. I’ll def be placing my order for the last of the cats, the REAL cats. Let the rich have the Trendy electrics
I will buy a Hellcat as well 2023 model will be a collector's Item.
Before the lame cars arrive that is.
The proportions are a bit off. Maybe a longer rear end & a bit lower extended swoopier C Pillar or else the side profile is like a 90's thunderbirds or some other generic coupe IMHO
I love that it looks like a futuristic 69 Charger, also a very nice interior, however I’m not the biggest fan of the sound, I wish it sounded just like a Hemi but I hope Dodge makes the production car just like this
I feel people would poke more fun at it if it tried to copy the well loved hemi sound
@Dr. Whoneedstoknow yeah I’m glad Dodge had it make sound
At this point I’m not necessary happy that the hemi engines are going away, but more happy that dodge is just making something new and badass
I feel the same way
This isn’t badass exhaust notes sounds fake asf and the taillights look horrible. Dodge sales definitely plummeting after 2024 nobody is buying dat ev turd
This is Literally the most pussy car ever....not bad ass
Yea, no combustion here and there wont be any in a couple years which is sad. But, new, fresh, and badass? Definitely.
Sexy, but I doubt the concept will look the same as the production version, and I sincerely hope they don’t add a set of doors. Could be worse, we’ll see if dodge is on point or pointy headed
Personally, I do not get the appeal of 2-doors. I got a current Charger myself. 2-door vehicles have larger, ungainly doors. Do not get the appeal at all.
It's definitely the coolest looking concept of an EV, but for me I just need my HEMI. Looking forward to seeing it in person though and hope Stellantis will realize what the Brotherhood actually wants and let's the money talk, or like many times before the Brand is sold and this time maybe in better hands
I think there is going to be a huge market for this. Wealthy people who already have other Dodge products/Hemis will be all over this stuff just because it’s new and fast. The Hornet sold 14,000 units already just yesterday, so there is true interest here. I’m with you though, I love my Hemis and the sound that comes with it.
I feel like Dodge has set up so well to allow for this in the future. Direct Connection will be the go to place to turn your Charger Daytona into a hybrid or some new super efficient ICE. I’m all about it.
@@MarspeedCars I hope it fails, Dodge deserves it for bending the knee.
@@joec3090 +1 here.
I thought that by naming it 'banshee' it would have a screaming supercharged Hemi. I'm just not there yet for battery powered muscle cars.
Nice car!!! Too bad us working folks can't afford one! I'm guessing 125k at least.
Marspeed thank you keep up that great work 🇺🇸🇺🇸😃😃💪💪👍👍👍
..my mum & dad drove me home from the hospital when i was born in a '65 Plymouth Fury III with a 383.
..it's been all Mopars for moi, since. That was August 22nd of 1966. This monstrous leap is..idk.
Nostalgia & borderline melancholy are wafting through my very soul, as I think on what's going on in the world & including the automotive world, as well.
EV. Idk..so many things..: Enviro-nightmare..extra initial and down the road costs..how will she run in
Wisc in winter? How will excessive road salt affect (It gets EVERYWHERE and causes unending dmg)
the various mega powered elec. systems?
Moot points..I don't have $100,000. I can't even afford a Nissan Leaf, at $30,000 lol.
Awesome video, Mars man..much appreciated look at this beautiful,
if not fully desirable unnder the skin, or affordable car. (Need a base model at $30k, like a V6 Charger/Challenger is.)
I think it looks pretty good it’ll grow on me 👌🏽🔥 but definitely will miss the hellcats 🥲
I didn't realize that the front end was a spoiler at first. That's super cool!
First EV cars that cought my attention. From start to end it looks perfect and it sure goes like hell! Excited for this one
If only (but most likely they won't) GM would do the same thing similar to this and a reason to resurrect Pontiac. I know everyone is in there feelings about electric muscle cars or Pontiac in general before GM ended the brand but it would be interesting to see how this would play out.
Can I order that with a 5.7 and a 6 spd?
Do you think they will do a manual version like they where playing with for the Jeep Magneto?
No it's a crappy BEV so no
The Banshee sounds like when you get your car stuck in the mud or snow, and the tires just spin without you going anywhere.
The price for the Banshee leaked this morning. MSRP $84,450. No thanks, I’ll stick with my 2021 Challenger WB SP.
Sitting here watching thinking ‘that wing is a little impractical for trunk access’ but that last shot “Woah, that’s the front!”
Wow they knocked it out the park
5:25 reminds me of the 2011 charger
Sound made me think I was playing Grand Tourismo on my old PS2 as a kid 🤣
Willing to look at it IF they come out with an affordable (R/T?) version. I can guarantee most of us won't be able to afford the one as shown.
The exhaust sound idea is just STUPID! Just leave it alone Dodge! It’s an electric car with a battery, not a Hemi! Put a Hemi in this thing and I’m there!
It’s reminds me of the hellcat whine.
Pretty cool. Are there no cup holders in it? I gotta have those lol
The interior is probably just a cool mockup of what it will really be like. Seems to be missing a lot of features (like all concepts!)
We need some update videos on your charger. On a side note I think considering the circumstances dodge made the dopest design they could have. It pays respect to the ‘70 charger. I love it
Finally the wraith has been reborn for us to enjoy !!! Sound and all. Bad ass !!!
Pulls into a gas station in this new EV and asks the attendant "Do you have a charger?"
The attendant responds, "No, but you do".
The exhaust sounds is Sick!!!
You summed up how I feel about it exactly.
I was worried abt that dodge will be silent or not. But. I have a gut feeling inside me that they will definitely do something on exhaust🔥🔥🔥
It’s FAKE NOISE
I think I'm going to buy one this thing is nuts
If i get an Ev my exhaust clip would be screaming goat.
I’m loving it 🔥🔥🔥
I mean its the best electric muscle car concept ive seen 🔥🔥
Looks great!
How is the interior plain ?
The design looks grate. The "exhaust" sound reminds me of CARR, KITT's nemesis.
Sounds like a Dyson vacuum cleaner.
I wonder if a convertible will ever happen? It would look so awesome! Probably not tho
coolest looking vacuum cleaner
Almost a perfect design but wish they would have put the two scoop designs on the forward part of the door.
I love the look. How it actually drives and the price would determine whether I would be interested in buying. I have a feeling the version that's faster than a Hellcat will be $100k.
It's electric so it already has the advantage off the line.
Electric cars are generally much faster, so even a bottom end model might be pushing Hellcat performance.
There will be different trims dude come on. There will obviously be a consumer friendly cheap one. Well, “cheap” lol
It sounds like the Turbo Interceptor from The Wraith. I think it's awesome.
Adding the huge Daytona wing might complete the look
Dealer mark ups will price it at $50-100k over MSRP for the first year or 2.
Hopefully that means clearance sales on those Last gen mopars. Dealerships can’t hold out forever. They need the inventory space
@@evildrizzt1 we'll see. It seems like dealerships are in a position to screw anyone right now. They make you feel like you're getting a deal if you get a car for MSRP.
Definitely not 50-100k markups lol. Exaggerate enough. Already looking at around 100k for the banshee model. No way it will cost similar as a corvette Z06 with its markups. No one will buy.
I think it’s NASTY definitely on my bucket list 👍🏾
It's a nope for me. My widebody Challenger Hellcat is on order, I'm gonna stick with that.....
The aftermarket for used Cats and Scats is going to sky rocket after 2023. Hold on to that killer car, there will be money to be made thanks to good ole supply and demand.
By the way, do you know if we will have a Challenger EV based on the same Charger frame and electric motor (s) ?
Nope, what you see is what you get.
A beautifully stunning automobile.
It will be interesting to see how the actual production car looks. So far this is a nice car. Also, to those of us with big v8 Hemis, their price and value just JUMPED. Hold on to it. They will be similar to the water cooled 911s when they changed.
Dodge finally did what they should have done way back in 2006 by making the Charger a 2 door again 👏👏👍
But sadly its electric :(
If they would’ve did that it would’ve took away from the hellcat sales so they waited for the Hellcat sales to die down so that they can have better sales with the Banshee
Challenger sounds better
@@darryltaylor2438 you dont get what Im trying to expose, theyve accepted the electric future, they never traied to fight it.
@@darryltaylor2438 U.S. regulations are why they made the Banshee lol
The backend reminds me of the 99 concept
It’s definitely the most interesting EV on the market when it arrives. Worth at least a test drive
I love everything except for the Banshee name. The Banshee was the name GM gave to the concept car that became the Firebird. The name was dropped when in an executive meeting, one engineer looked up the definition in the dictionary, as "An evil foretelling of death". Not an auspicious name for a new car.
Well these are the people that named a car the Demon. And one the Scatpack. I’m sure they have no qualms about naming meaning at this point lol
Evil names sometimes forecast how hard something is, like bad meaning good in slang or sick!
9:24 : The only time a Dodge is ever silent is when it's parked! 😆😆. _(8/18/2022)_
I love this new Concept!!!!!!! Plus, it sounds MEAN!!!!!!!
🔥🔥
I love it. I've been thinking about adding an EV to my lineup and this will likely be the one. Some amazing engineering in this car that is definitely pushing the boundaries. Kudos to Dodge on this one.
Look, if there’s going to be (more like has to be) a new sheriff, I vote for this.
Should add more sleeker lines to make it look sportier and made it a four door coupe with hidden door handles esp if its going to be this big. It looks too bulky esp the back.
I love that it is a 2 door hatchback and hope it stays that way, really hope they don't waste time and money with fake sounds but I like it. I stepped away from Mopar last year but if they don't screw it up this may bring me back.
May I ask why did you step away? I ask this because I'm about to step into it lmao
@@Junior305able At 53 I have had them all from 1953-2021 but have become bored I guess. I have wanted a mid size pickup so got a 21 Ford Ranger as Mopar does not make a mid size truck yet, I wanted a sporty hatchback so I got a 22 Kia Stinger. Very happy with both even though they are the first non Mopars I have owned in decades. I still have my eyes open for another 08 Dodge Magnum for a project.
I hope the production version will be a 2 door as well.
Me too it actually looks good as hatchback (or sportback)
I just bought a V8 Charger in the last month, LOL. I love this concept.
Looks good
Very interesting car but when the showed the interior for a sec the violet interior parts made me think of seats that had years of sun damage on them so I’m not sure of that color combo for the interior
I think because there is some parts bin pieces in the interior, they did t want photos out yet. The steering wheel is straight out of the refreshed Jeeps.
7:32. If they extend the door to the 2nd row, it will be more practical, and look better proportionate.
Ya Im not with that 2 door stuff. They gonna alienate a lot of people with that. They need a 2 door and 4 door option.
I really wish they would get rid of the fratzog logos from the front and back light bars. They interrupt the otherwise super clean design.
Ayo, this thing is nicceee. Imagine it being AWD with the ability to change to AWD or RWD with a press of a button. I know this thing will be around 100k if not more
Love how it sounds, certainly futuristic.
Sounds like a fake v12 engine with a speaker and the taillights look terrible dodge sales definitely goin down after 2024
@@kevinsamson1693 Those taillights are fire! Bold move by Dodge paying off.
@@codereddew1539 definitely a bold move cause this ev stuff anit it
@@kevinsamson1693 Has to be "it", federal regulation is pushing for "it".
It's as simple as maintaining your old vehicles if you don't like it. Personally I don't think EV's are the answer. I could see Hybrids or plug-in hybrids being more of a long term solution.
Beautiful car
Nice. But add some of the form of the previous orange-red Charger concept from about 10 years ago.
Tbh I love the look of it
It sounds like a leaf blower... now, your neighbors won't complain about your exhaust, they'll just think you're doing the lawn early in the morning. Well played dodge... you solved the "annoyed neighbor" issue.
I loved the exhaust note. It's not a hemi so why try to sound like one. It sounded as futuristic as it looks.
The back of the roof looks goofy. Front and back of car look good
🔥🔥🔥💯
This is a gorgeous car, but if EVs with fake exhaust sounds are the future of Dodge, I 'd better place my order for a Scat Pack Widebody Challenger ASAP.
Right on EleanorPowellFan.
It looks good I like the interior but Ofcourse nothing beats the current gen v8 hemis . I still think they could have done more with the v8 there are are companies that still make v8s and still comply with emissions ie bmw and audi
This things sound needs some tweaking on the low end. Not sure what they would do to fix that, but they clearly put a lot of thought and care into the design. I want this thing to sound like the batmobile from The Batman.
They're getting closer to the car they use in the movie The wraith
It actually sounds like a big cat purring
😂 Lol! Great way to describe it. That's exactly how it sounded.
Faster than a hell cat damn
Dude thats a concept car
If the exhaust sound is "tunable", I would surely have a Daytona that sounds like George Jetson's car.
