    A video that makes you want to get out on the bank. Two skilled anglers clearly at ease, no egos, talking knowledgeably and showing that success can be had without any great complexity. Thanks guys.

    Thanks for the great info, I had a bit of beginners luck with early morning margin perch catches but that soon stopped and seemed hit and miss! will try the deeper areas and wait for low light and dull days.

    A couple of Q's @ AndglingDirectUK or anyone please:
    1) How far would a Perch carry the bait? I'm guessing it's not a full-on 'run' . Should I strike early to avoid hooking deep?
    2) Would using captive back leads spook a bite? I'm so used to using them to avoid false bites when carping I'd feel more confident using them.
    Really nice video btw. Mellow guys.

    • @AnglingDirectTV
      @AnglingDirectTV  5 лет назад +2

      Hi Roy, Perch wouldn't carry the bait far, normally they'd just inhale it, so probably best to strike quite early. I wouldn't use back leads either, as this could possibly distort bite detection. When Perch fishing you shouldn't get too many issues with liners like you perhaps would when carp fishing. Hope that helps and glad you enjoyed the video! :-)

    Would love to see his take on livebaiting for perch 👌

    • @AnglingDirectTV
      @AnglingDirectTV  Год назад +1

      Hi Gavin, although it can be frowned upon by some, live baiting in my opinion is the most effective way to catch big perch. So long as rules allow it on the venue and baits are caught at the same venue you use them I'm happy to do it,
      Regards
      Phil

      Thanks for the reply Phil...I did a bit on my local pond last year with a simple run rig and size 4 kamasan b983 on a 2 oz tip feeder rod but kept getting miss takes....any idea on what I was doing wrong

    • @AnglingDirectTV
      @AnglingDirectTV  Год назад +1

      Personally Gavin I prefer to use a float when live baiting. I feel it offers less resistance and better bite indication. Also you can cover more water by letting the baits roam around the lake freely.

    • @gavincorbett1272
      @gavincorbett1272 Год назад

      OK thankyou mate how far off the bottom would u have the live bait and would u fish it straight on the line or paternoster style...may give it a go this weekend

    • @AnglingDirectTV
      @AnglingDirectTV  Год назад +1

      @@gavincorbett1272 If free roaming I'd set it so the bait works just off the bottom. I'd use a paternoster if I wanted to keep the bait in a certain area like a snag.
      Good luck if you do go this weekend,
      Phil,

    Because of the weight of the king prawn, what float do you recommend because prawns are very heavy? Thanks 👍

    • @AnglingDirectTV
      @AnglingDirectTV  Год назад

      Hi Stuart, the float size more depends on the distance I need to cast and the depth of the lake. The float doesn't need to support the weight of the prawn as I always fish the prawn on the bottom.
      Hope this helps?
      Regards Phil,

    Could you use spratz as bait for bigger perch

    • @AnglingDirectTV
      @AnglingDirectTV  3 года назад

      There's a chance that a big perch would take a Sprat, but freshwater dead baits would much better such as small roach or Rudd.

      Hi, the bobbins Phil used in the video where Korum bobbins. This video was filmed back in 2016 and sadly they are no longer available.
      You could use the fox rage drop offs if you set the clips as sensitive as possible.

    How far is the float away from the hook please?

    • @AnglingDirectTV
      @AnglingDirectTV  4 года назад

      Hi Aoife, the float will be around 2 foot above the hook when casting. Then it's fished as a sliding float set up so will settle at the chosen depth. Baits such as worms and prawns are best fished on the bottom on the lake.
