Mustang Exhaust Baffles - Cold Start Suppressor

- 2019 Mustang GT with stock mufflers, H-Pipe and resonator delete. The cold start is much louder than I expected even with the stock cans. I live in a neighborhood so in an effort to keep the peace I came up with this hack to help tone down the cold start raspiness.

*Removes first pool noodles*
Me reading this at 6 am not trying to wake up Neigbhors😂
Lol same have to take the straight piped SRT out tomorrow and I’m really trying to be respectful
Lmfao same😭😭
Its 6:02 and i gotta go to work soon. My car is so loud i never realized until my sister started it yesterday when I was half asleep and i was like shit😭
Same, 4AM 🤣
I be turning it on for the pass month every Tuesday and Thursday at 4am
This video saved my car from getting banned from the garage. I live in a ranch style home with the garage underneath my bedroom. My car would vibrate the entire house every morning at 4am. The noodle trick got rid of the vibration completely! Truly a life saver!
I'm gonna have to try this, haven't gotten any complaints but I know my neighbors feel some type of way when I go to work in the morning 😅
Kid: Come on Dad we're late..
Dad: Hold on! *Takes out foam noodles*
Haha, I only use the noodles if I'm leaving early in the morning during the cold-start cycle. I live in a wonderful neighborhood and just trying to be a good neighbor.
@@emdavis197 me too brother! Gonna try these out in the morning. I have the Borla Attk on my f150 and I get up at 4am now for work. Wish me luck
Thank you so much. I did an x pipe and this helps so much with that initial blast
Thank you!! I’ve watched a few of these hacks, but this one seemed least likely to result in flying noodles!! Props man!! Works a charm. Although, will have to see how cold start goes in morning. Cheers!
Amazing idea
Wow . What a difference
Awesome idea. I usually start the engine in the garage with the door closed. Louder bang for me, quieter for everyone else
Same.
I gotta try this, I just got a complaint from my neighbors😂😂
I just bought a 2021 mustang gt with the quad tips. I live in a rowhome so ik my neighbors hate me already. This will help a lot. Thanks for the video, also almost blew out my speakers when you took the noodles out lol.
The good neighbor machine, I'll have to remember this
Excited to try this. Went from an h pipe to an x pipe and I’m slowly starting to get complaints from my neighbors
Did it work?
ok you are a life saver, i was about to change my whole set up!
you are a god for this
Thank you for this, I’m installing a louder exhaust on my already loud mustang and hopefully this helps with the loud cold starts
Yvr2321t4?v?3
So did you do that also? I have to know how much inch for my corvette c7 😞
@@SUBIESAMURAI07bro why the emoji?
@@daredevil6217 my car destroyes the neighbor’s. I have to find a way . I tried it out and it won’t really work
@@SUBIESAMURAI07 Hey did it work on your vette? I got a corvette recently and am running into the same situation.
Saved the day, I actually enjoy my neighbors for once sound keeping the peace is valuable. At least at 5am when I leave for work😂
Gonna have to try this! Thanks!
Thanks, I will try this. My neighbors and wife will thank me. Steeda H-pipe and axle back.
Thank you bro this working great I have corsa extreme really loud
hey buddy, do you know how wide the noodles are?
It works great. Thanks. Now I need to get rid if the ticking. Might try Ceratec.
Thanks! I'm desperate to keep my hot rod from cheesing off the entire flipping neighborhood when I leave for work at 5am.
Thank you for posting this. I don't have a mustang. 😓
Wow... I can confirm this definitely works... one tip I picked up is buy the extra large noodles and then shave them to fit and leave the portion sticking out of the exhaust thicker to ensure a tight fit.
I will be doing this lol
will surely do this
bro when you took the first two noodles out holy shit lmaoooo thank you for this !
I have no mufflers so this is going to help my neighbors every morning
I need this i have to work at 6am and I have a flow masters with a cat delete and damn... cold start aint no joke and its a deep sound i feel bad if i wake people kids up and stuff thanks for this I'm going to try it today
Did it work
It worked!!
I just tried this on my 17 with x pipe and roush axle backs and...... it worked!!!
How significant?
@@kailevy7098 very! Car was super quiet more so than stock actually. I back my car into the garage so what i was doing was stuffing the noodles into the mufflers and using jackstands to keep the noodles from flying out
@@jessefrias2575 ooh nice thanks for the reply!
@@jessefrias2575 I'm going to try this on my straight piped gti, hopefully it works
Now I can get the MBRP Race exhaust I’ve been wanting without making my whole neighborhood hate me!
I’m making these but with some sound deadening material as well because mine are very loud.
I do this but I have two wooden boxes to put behind them so they don’t fly out. Works great.
Yeah I just got my Texas speed headers installed with my res delete and I didn't think the start up would be as loud as it is lmao
How do you keep those pool noodles flying out during early morning coldstars. I already have mine in snugly but still comes out when i do early morning cold stars.
Nice simple and effective
I live im and hoa neighborhood and they can fine me for shit like this so now im able to leave late at night and early in the morning without pissingem all off me personally i putem in drive to the stop sign and pull em out and just chill at stop sign till it warms up
I tried this on my straight pipe and it shot them things out like rockets
Same. Wtf. It keeps flying out.
Sameeee
Any success?
Can I do this with roush axle-backs? Do you think any damage can happen if its pushed too back?
Just get a strong wire with a hook at the end to pull them out
Do you think that wider noodles would be better? Ones that fit tighter in the tips?
Depends on the pipes I guess. I have the stock cans from a 2019 (with resonator delete). It is only really loud on initial cold start, then it settles down pretty quickly. Standard noodle fits snugly without doing the tapered end / tape modification. Just a plain noodle about 1 ft long. Gotta shove it in there. For different exhaust tips you may need to experiment with different things. I have really nice neighbors, some are elderly, others have young babies, so I'm just trying to be courteous until I get out of the neighborhood, then all bets are off, haha.
Hmm....I know I've seen fiberglass muffler repacks about that size and shape somewhere before. Probably dirt bike muffler or something...
Thank you for this. I have a full bolt on Camaro and live in a town home 😅 I have to park on the other side of the facility because my car I so loud I’d wake the whole neighborhood up. Hopefully this works
So? It worked?
Baffled exhaust was so quiet that I jumped at the sound when he pulled out the first nood
Just tried this my car shot them like rockets my car is fully straight piped any ideas how to keep them inside
NICE!!!!!
Did this and now the car is quiet as can be thank you! do u warm it up before u pull the noodles?
Just take them out after a min or so. The first 30sec to 1min is when it's the loudest. Just my opinion.
I got a straight piped camry with heads and a high flow cat I needed something like this my mom absolutely hates it with a passion thanks!
Camry 🤢
@@Goyxrd3 lmao I don’t have it anymore but hate all you want bud
Did it help at all with cold start?
@@shitcreekwarrior8794 I have a straight piped expedition now from the cats back, I just put a cut out on it because my tips are too big for the noodle truck but it worked with the other car
@@tylercote5728 I'm going to try it on my catless focus St. I'm tired of being that douchey neighbor
i’m going to do this for my mustang today. question though. why cut to get a taper then tape it afterwards? just curious, thanks!
If you have the stock dual exhaust tips you don’t really need to taper them at all. Adjust accordingly if you have after market mufflers / tips.
I am late to this party lol. 2019 GT (also velocity blue) with headers, aftermarket catback exhaust, and X pipe. Cold start is pissing my neighbors off. I like this idea, but would this create back pressure in my exhaust system?
Sure it is going to create a little back pressure. But just use them to quiet that initial cold start bark, then you can pull them out after a few seconds. Won't hurt anything.
Yesterday my neighbor came outside with a lot of spaghetti on her cloths . I apologized but she was angry . So I really need this one . You think it’s good for the corvette c7? Will it fit?
What😂😂😂😂😂
I have long tubes and this didn’t work for me lol they fly out every time I start it up
But it did reduce the noise?
Try it without tapering the ends of the noodles. Just stuff them in the cans. I've had some issues with them flying out as well, even with stock headers and cats. Decided to try plain noodle, no taper. They hold pretty well.
It works! How long have you been doing this and have you noticed any negative effect?
No negative impacts. I do this a couple times per week for over a year.
@@emdavis197 sir when you pulled the pool noodle out your exhaust, I couldn’t see a tape ? So there is no need for that? Secondly, is the hole in the noodle big enough to not the kill the Engine ? Thanks
Does it not melt?? Do you do this for daily? I'm thinking of using this every day to exit my neighborhood early in the morning
It does not melt. I only do it early morning if I have to leave before 8am. Just for startup, then remove them after about 45 seconds once the cold start high-rev sequence settles down. Recommend not using the tapered cut and electrical tape shown in the video. They stay put better just plain without any modifications. Just cut to length and stuff them in there. Give it a try and report back.
@@emdavis197 ok will do. I'm thinking I might do some ginger driving to the entrance of my sub before pulling them out.
I just put long tubes on my car and I am going to do this for sure.
what brand headers u got?
@@jasonquiroz4708 2M fabrication headers. They’re awesome
Great idea! Definitely going to try it. Will it work on cars with active exhaust?
Probably but if you have active exhaust wouldn’t you not need this anyway lol
@@brandonwright9450 ofc you do.
Tried this but I have a muffler delete pipe so it just shot out. Any fix?
Try not tapering the noodles. Just cut them to length and stuff them in there firm. I found out after the first iteration that the taper is not necessary
@@emdavis197 thanks for the fast reply I’ll try it tonight
@@emdavis197 sadly still shot out even when I used the whole

Got a new exhaust and it’s worked better but after awhile the foam shakes out
@@Jonathan.Nguyen put a tape on the end i have a muffler delete too and i cant get them to hold by themself
What is diameter of the noodles ?
If only there was some groundbreaking invention, that might have a loud and quiet exhaust mode with the press of a button. Wouldn't that be crazy.
Sounds more expensive that a $2 pool noodle and some tape lol
@@BennyZ88 You mean the literal fucking stock active exhaust? That has a loud and quiet mode? That you can keep using with different exhausts too, if only you were smart enough to use the magical technology of valved silencers?
@@drogenfeld The active exhaust is a $1500 option you twat and is not standard with all mustangs. You have to pay extra for it. It's not free. If only you were smart enough to even fucking educate yourself on mustang specs.
@@drogenfeld What if you bought a Mustang GT without active exhaust? Ford won't just install active exhaust into your car. It has to come factory ordered and some people buy used.
@@raneer_6567 then just buy one. They are insanely cheap for you guys. Surely better than what this imbecile is showing in his video.
Is your exhaust stock or do you have a resonator delete?
Everything is stock except for the resonator delete. I swapped it out for the Steeda H-Pipe. For the 2018 - 2020 they did a fantastic job on the stock cans once you delete the resonator. You'll be amazed the difference in sound once you do this.
emdavis197 I have the Steeda H Pipe and the Steeda Axle Backs , hence the reason I came across your video. 😂. These cars sound good with just the H pipe but they sound amazing with the cat backs included. Buuut they are a little on the loud side.
Gonna try this on my '12 GT500 with LTH, X pipe, cams an bigger SC. Lol wish me luck
Did it work?
@@joemag15 I have the same setup as him minus cams. The sound difference is day and night, the only problem is keeping the noodles in.
@@onohan bro I’m in the same spot lmao, catless headers and a full straight pipe. How do you keep the noodles in??
@@arthurmontenegro1533 I literally get two boxes for both sides and put weights in them so that they at least stay in place, but it still shoots out sometimes... HAHAHAH. I'm trying to think of a way to modify the noodles.
@@onohan lmaooo, i guess imma have to use the garage door to block them from coming out
Muffler deleted my v8 and now I’m boutta rid the cats so I know ima def get a complaint now so I’m doing this
Let us know how it works out for you. One additional tip mentioned in the comments in case you missed it. You don't need to cut the tapered ends or use electrical tape, especially if you deleted the mufflers. Depending on the diameter of your pipes, you may need a larger noodle!
My 5.0 is completely straight piped. Sounds like a jet engine. Did this work for you?
Dylan Drake did you try it? Not straight piped but corsa sports and catless longtubes
I wonder how it would work to slide these over some of the Amazon exhaust silencers.
Mine keeps flying out 😳
Where did get the foam from?
Pool noodles from Walmart
Just got mines😁. Thxs
Mine keep shooting out any suggestions?
Did u figure anything out?
nice! do you worry they might melt? if in too long?
They might melt if left in too long. I usually pull them out within 10-15 seconds, just to get past the initial bark on cold start.
forget that, im trying to wake up the neighbors with my Boss 302
can you drive with those on
No, they are only for the cold start engine bark. Pull them out after starting the car once the RPMs settle down a bit. Usually 10-30 seconds depending on the weather, haha.
@@emdavis197 oh ok thx
I go to work at 4 am and lady across the street started complaining
to all the noodle shooters
put a spring in the noodle
squeeze it in to shuve it in the exhaust and it will expande and hold the noodle inside the exhaust
just an idea
Who ever came up with this idea is self within. Carbon dioxide emissions
Should be a legal requirement of all mustangs
Can I drive with these on for about 2 mins?
If you drive slowly at low RPM you should be fine. It will not hurt your car, but it might hurt the noodles, haha. I think if they get hot enough they would melt. I only use it very briefly to quiet the initial window-shaking roar on cold start. Then I take them out after about 30 - 45 seconds when the idle settles down a bit.
@@emdavis197 ok thanks for the information. I was wanting to make it out the neighborhood completely before removing.

Yep. If you listen closely, you will hear the words “pool noodles” within the very first 4 words of the video.
I’d rather wake up my neighbors.
Does this hurt the engine ?
Air can still flow through the foam tube, and you only keep them in there for about 45 seconds to a minute. No codes are thrown in the dash and no issues for me so far.
emdavis197 Thx
My neighborhood Karen called the police on me so I bought a louder exhaust after the officer said it wasn't loud enough
Holy based
Get active exhaust. Problem solved
Instead, try sticking pool noodles in your neighbours’ ears.
The neighbors will complain if it’s too loud. I say let the exhaust fly.
I have a straight piped civic my neighbors can deal with it lmao
Who buys a v8 to make it More quiet
That's a silly comment. People who don't want to piss off neighbors but let it rip wherever there neighbors don't live lmao
