I've been using my Tobii since they came out years ago. It worked really well. Then I went VR, gave that up, always chasing the highest end gpu and Odyssey on foot...
Went wide screen and when the Tobii eye 5 came out I bought it. I don't use the eye tracking and my new OLED monitor won't allow me to put the unit at the bottom. The head tracking works well mounted on top.
I love using the Tobii but don't use it on foot because aiming weapons is a chore.
I sometimes play Star Citizen and it works great there as well.

Vr is okay but if you need to see what's happening in the real world then the Tobii Eye tracker is the way to go. I've used the tobii since 2019 and have had no problems with it. I don't think there was a magnet on the tracker when I bought mine so I used double sided tape to attach it to the monitor. The advanced settings can be daunting to figure out so start with the simple settings first. Great product would highly recommend

I’ve been using head tack for ED for years and can’t stand not having it now. The eye track is a step up with not relying on the user needing to wear any wired device for the infrared tracking types to work. Not sure if I won’t just make the leap to VR or upgrade to this. Thanks for the review.

Do you plan on doing a video of dogfight with the eye tracker later ? It would be interesting to see how it goes when the player is doing lag pursuit, trying to keep his eyes on a more manoeuverable ship during a fight
I had an EDTracker (attached to my headset) years ago, the concept was great, but the calibration and sensitivity was difficult to set right
    Thanks for the detailed review!

I remember someone make this from a Nintendo Wii system and Nintendo sat on their arse and did nothing to exploit this technology…

I use this when in 3 monitors mode and for things like CG / Inara. Good in combat too but VR in Elite all round is superior imho.

I use VR for Elite but this is great for people that prefer a monitor and/or those that get dizzy when using VR. It's a little pricey but per your review it seems to be of excellent quality, and that costs money.

Tobii eyetracker is GREAT! VR gave me headaches, but Tobii with three 32" monitors is perfect for my simpit.

I've been looking at this since Valve is never going to release a new VR headset any time soon. Do you find it helps tracking ships in combat?

I have one, use it with many games, including, especially, ED. Works great! No VR mess you need to wear, it attaches to your screen bezel. Takes all of 5-7 minutes to install and setup. If it should ever get a tad wonkie, recalibration takes all of 1-2 minutes!
