    Great video! I preordered mine and this video just reassured my purchase 🙌🏽. I liked when you said “When in deep snow simply use it as a normal binding” that was gold. People always complicated that this burning wouldn’t be great in deep snow 😂. This binding is so versatile and get the best of everything. Still uses straps, quick entry, and it can be used as a normal binding. 🔥

    I rode the same set of union bindings for the three years I lived in between two skiing resorts and I never had a ladder break on me. I sold the board with the bindings on it to someone I know who was learning to ride but they had to swap out the rear foot binding upper ladder after 3 more weeks using that board. but getting about 250 full days of riding out of a set of bindings without having to change out a single part is pretty damn good if you ask me.
    but I have a feeling that my next binding will be the Clew and my next board will be the Gnu Riders Choice.

    Snow buildup has been an issue with step in bindings from the very beginning but a lot of times, you could just slap the tail a couple times and it would clear out. I love the fact you can simply unstrap the ankle strap if it's a pow day. This is the first binding I've ever seen that does that but I've been out of the game for a few years.

    I do just normal Riding nothing Freestyly, nothing too hard on the binding. I love the CLEWs.
    Just two "Downsides":
    After long days in deep snow I sometimes gather ice under the Highback, that is no problem, but it feels insecure?
    I exchanged all the Straps to Burton straps as I find them easier to use.
    I can really highly recommend the clews. It just works and makes the boarder life much more convenient.

    Something that wasn’t touched in the video is sometimes when you have the high back on and am walking through the snow there is a possibility that you’ll hit the ratchet and loosen it all the way and it’ll just fall off. The solution for that is if you’re walking back to the lodge or anything more then a few steps away from the slope to just take off the binding like normal ones.

    • @Cromzinc
      @Cromzinc Год назад

      I imagine anything is possible, but the ratchet locks. Also, what would you hit them on exactly? But good advice at the end, that should be the case regardless imo.

    I've used K2 Clickers (20yrs), Flows (2 yrs) and the Clews (1yr). I still use Clickers on one board since K2 still makes new boots and heck, it works great on groomers. I tried Flows for a bit but my boots were too wide and didn't easily slide in... I ended up re strapping most of the time so they are not for me. The Clews, so far I am able to snap in without stopping off the lift (on groomers) which is better than the Flows and slightly better than the K2s. Regarding durability, my K2 Clickers never ever broke, they're all metal and will last 20+ years. The Flows I never regularly enjoyed so they are ready for eBay. The Clews, I also had the toe strap crack issue last year, but the free new one has been fine this year. Clews are best all around since you can just old school strap them in the pow. K2 Clickers are hard in deep pow. Flows just suck...
    So 1 Clew, 2 K2 Clickers, 3 Flow. If Burton could fix the powder issue with their step ins then they could be 1 or 2 but that's tbd...

    my friends bought these bindings this winter and it was 3 week challenge to step into them fully (with 2 clicks), their leg was always going a bit on a side so one side strapped in and another not fully and it wasn't working for them at all. after 3 weeks of trying to get into these bindings they abandoned it, I mean it was taking x3 time or even more for them to step into these, than for us into regular bindings. maybe you could show what is the learning curve on stepping into clew, so people would realize through what challenge they will have to go.

Also I seems like in most reviews people don’t like having to reach around the back for the handle to get out vs reaching forward for the level on the burtons or nidecker supermatics. Is it really that big of a deal or awkward to do? Or is it just a movement people are not accustomed to and just takes time to used to it?

      Practice shifties on flat snow.
      For a backside boardslide, start with your arms towards your nose and then rotate them to your side so that your torso counter rotates.

      I'm not RUclipsr but I did buy a shitload of specialty bindings. I bought the Clews, Nidecker Supermatics, Burton Step Ons, K2 Clicker X HB and Clicker Step On, and the GNU Psych rear entry bindings. I've road all of them for 2 seasons now including this season and I decided to keep the Clews, Nideckers and Burtons and K2. The GNU was sold to a friend as I did not like reaching behind my to push down on the lever. If it was a pull down lever, I may have kept it. All in all, all these binding work well but for me and my stiff back, I prefer the Clews the most followed by the Nideckers then K2s then Burtons.
