Cipher did not leave the ship, he simply jacked into the matrix where his mind had a meeting in The matrix with agent Smith. His physical body was still on the Nebuchadnezzar. That's why he was looking all shady and got scared when Neo came in and found him because he was setting up the meeting while everyone else is sleeping there on the keyboard before he jacked into the matrix when Neo walked up on him.

Your theory has a few holes. One he could not jack himself in without the help of another person and none of the other crew would oblige such a request. Because they still have some form of hierarchy. Because Morpheus is the captain of the ship and Trinity is his first mate. cypher is a only a common soldier. So following that thought. He has to have the commanding officers approval to jack in. So he took the shift and put a timer on the system to jack him after a certain time and also jack him out at a certain time. Then also deleted the log of him jacking in.

Fun fact: The Matrix was filmed in Sydney Australia, partly because the Central Business District buildings, mostly fairly new, would be unfamiliar to most northern hemisphere viewers, plus clever camera angles and editing avoided anything much being able to be recognized, even by a local. I grew up in the suburbs and I didn't recognize the city on the first viewing. Now that I know, of course, I recognize individual buildings. The Sydney opera House, and the Sydney Harbour Bridge (both carefully avoided) are within a kilometre of where the city scenes were filmed.

I understand your point about picking up the phone and having that conversation on the ship. That said, Neo needed to die in order to become The One. The Oracle said so in their meeting (Oracle: "Sorry, kid. You got the gift, but it looks like you're waiting for something." Neo: "What?" Oracle: "Your next life, maybe. Who knows? That's the way these things go."). Therefore, they needed to find a way for Neo to be reborn thus bringing him to his next life as The One.

2 Reactions to recommend following these:
1 - Hugo Weaving (Agent Smith) is also V in "V for Vendetta." If you haven't seen it, I HIGHLY recommend it as another on of the greatest movies. Also very relevant to modern day society.
2 - While it may only be able to be posted to Patreon, Lana Wachowski also did the show Sense8 on Netflix. It only made it for 2 seasons due to production cost (she refused to green screen and shot the entire show on location in a variety of countries. There is nudity in the show which could be cut/censored for YT. The show is PHENOMENAL and I hate that it seems to not get the love it deserves.

Trinity delayed picking up the phone because The Oracle told her to. Trinity said "Everything the Oracle told me has come true...except for this." She waits until the train has passed before picking up the phone. Remember earlier, when the Oracle tells Neo that maybe he's "waiting for his next life"? He literally is. The Oracle knows he needs to die and be reborn to come into his powers. If he made it back to the ship, he wouldn't become The One yet. He literally dies, and Trinity's kiss brings him back, which basically unlocks his god-tier powers.

    • @rikk319

@@mikemorgan2211 She literally says, word-for-word, after Morpheus uses the phone: "Everything the Oracle told me has come true...except for this." The "this" she is speaking of is that moment--where she and Neo are waiting in the train station, about to use the phone to escape the Matrix. A subway is a train, in case you didn't know--just an electric one that often travels underground. You can hear the train approach and pass, as she just STANDS THERE. That's delaying going in the phone booth and picking up the phone. Why would she stand there? Because the Oracle probably told her to. It isn't hard to follow the logic of the scene--just watch it again.

If you think about Trinity's perspective, she was told by the Oracle that she would fall in love with the One (she reveals it before the kiss, when he is flatlined). But when he saves her from the helicopter, they do not yet have that love spark. So she had this desperate urge to tell him something was wrong, before returning to the ship. After all that conversation is private (earlier, when the three reunite at the top of the building, Morpheus interrupts her when she is about to tell something about the Oracle's prediction). So, when they are alone at the phone booth, she is hesitant, divided between revealing the prediction to save the mission, or keeping it secret and securing the love of her life (or perhaps deciding it's not him). As some people mentioned, the Oracle gave several hints: "I can see why she likes you", "you have the gift, but it seems that you are waiting for something", and "Maybe in the next life".

The belly button worm thing probably would not require stitching up, as they would simply do something similar that they did to his mouth. Manipulating the data to change his physical parameters. Also, unlike a bullet or a knife (which is firmly established within the rules of the construct program) the belly bug is separate from that. It is malicious data being inserted into Neo's source code to make him easier to track within the Matrix. Penetrating the belly button is a manifestation of how personal a violation it would be to have one's very soul hacked.

There's a lot of biblical and Greek mythological Easter eggs in the Matrix. Morpheus, Niobe, Osiris, Mjolnir (the "Hammer") are all from Greek mythology. Zion and Trinity are obviously names from the Bible. Anderson, Neo's Matrix-given last name, loosely means "son of man," another title for Jesus in the Bible. Nebuchadnezzar was a Neo-Babylonian king who is also mentioned in the Bible. Seraph (in Reloaded) is the singular form of Seraphim, another name for some of the angels in the Bible. The Logos, Niobe's ship, is again a Greek term ("word") used frequently in the Bible, and another reference to Jesus in John's gospel. And here's a fun one that's not so obvious: When you watch Reloaded, look at the front license plate of the agents' car (the black Audi) that pulls up at the beginning of the movie. The plate says IS 5416. Coincidence? Or a reference to Isaiah 54:16? Here's what it says:
"Behold, I have created the smith who blows fire of coals and produces a weapon for its purpose. I have also created the ravager to destroy"

  • @michaelgonzalez6295

Even though it has features and memory and all that, we still have an old house phone. The old landline phone system wires run on a different electric circuit than normal home electricity. This allows the old phones to work even if you have a power outage. Power outages can take out the cell phone towers, but not the landlines, so even in emergencies we can still make calls.

@@mikemorgan2211 yes it does, because it makes more sense.
The studio made them change it because they thought the audience wouldn't get it.
Using humans for heat and bioelectricity is so stupidly inefficient because it's readily available on this planet anyways.
Having humans for their brainpower as processors makes way more sense.
You're argument is kind of retarded.
