Such a common problem for all ktms with this bolt setup. I had to drill mine out and tap the threads again. I believe it was a 13/64 drill bit the bolt itself is m6x1.0x16mm. I think the most critical part of the process is making sure the threads are very clean so the thread lock will actually seal and not dissolve from any grease. And with the thread lock less is better you don’t want to load up too much just a couple drops. I just ordered a new shifter looking for the nordlock washers now that ktm recommends
Man I was about to replace the oil in my newly bought KTM duke bike I bought it as seconds hand and the the bolt broke right in I was able to remove it but every bolt in it seems very fragile and soft? Have you came across something like this? Do you consider KTM bolts fragile?
And yes, the new KTM's and all over 2018 bikes are so fragile... All parts made in China and low quality check... But hey, this is the new business... Selling parts as many as possible!

I used the second method worked great
👍 perfect!!
you gave me confidence , thank you
What size drill bit?
You need a small one, the hole must be a little bit tighter than the torx head.
How many inch-pounds is the torque spec?
Only God knows… 🫠
@@ZonaEnduro haha I just looked it up in the service manual. Says 10 NM which is 88 inch-pounds. Seems a bit much for such a small bolt tho
Thanks! I’ll set the “hand” for torque specs! 😅
Great video worked for me!!!
This method works every time!
@@ZonaEnduro I wish I could send you a photo
GREAT work!

We do Hard Enduro stuff. A rock probably snapped the gear lever.

@@ZonaEnduro Yeah... Love the brand though furthermore I think the previous owner insanely overtightened it
@@falcy2889 yep. The bolt was slightly slim at the break point
Same problem thanks for the inspiration
Bajaj quality at "premium" prices....
