He is a perfect example that the writers are capable of learning from their past mistakes as well as the audience's wishes. Cell does what Fans missed in Frieza, interacted with everybody instead of being kind of a stranger to everyone, had reasons and goals and even the opportunity to leave his evil ways - and he chose evil. This makes him a perfectly written villain, and even now no villain comes close imho
I desperately want to see Cell revived and climb higher just like all the other characters. Idc if that's Silver Cell or Perfect Cell Max, WE NEED CELL BACK.

Cell definitely represented the concept of absolute. He was made of the combination of Earth’s and the Galaxy greatest warriors Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Frezia and King Cold.
Cell is the greatest villain in DB. If there was anyone who deserved to return it was him, and no Cell Lax doesnt count. Cell legitimately had so much narrative potential. Hes a perfect foil to Goku and the entire Z cast really + he has this amazing Kang the Conqueror causality loop factor to his character, people tend to forget but Cell is a time traveler in search of what he thinks will make him whole. He has all the abilities and all the potential of the Z cast so SSG, Ultra Instinct, Ego, Black Form, Orange Form, etc are all accessible to him. And Cell never even really had an opportunity to grow out of his metaphorical infancy -- seeing Cell deal with the existential crisis of purposelessness after realizing absorbing 17 and 18 didn't reallg mean all that much and his life's purpose didnt amount to much in the end is narrative potential that really needs to be tapped one day.
Yeah cell had so much potential as a character but they just have him freezas personality plus at the time he represented all of the old generation vs gohan the new generation
I was thinking the other day when Cell went back in time, he reverted into his more larvae state form to fit in the machine. Now I don't know if he had Piccolo regeneration genes at this point but he could have just chopped his legs off or something, go back to the past and then regened from there lol. Would be interesting to see if Cell grew back to his imperfect form earlier, sooner or later and how that would affect the timeline.

So theoretical he should've known his Regeneration, too (albeit perhaps not the full capacities, like when he underestimated the durability of his core). But that'd be an amazing What If!
You forgot to mention in the final battle in the anime. It took EVERYONE to defeat cell. All the humans and piccolo distracting him and annoying him till Vegeta came in with something that actually hurt him and distracted him long enough for Gohan to get the jump on him. I always believe, even after all the other great dragon ball content we have been given, that Dragon Ball Z should have ended on the Cell Arch. It just was perfect for it. But hey, I am also glad it didn't as we would not have all these other amazing fights and stories.
Cell would have made made a good “Final Boss” for Dragon ball. He has all the skills, powers, abilities and techniques of the other characters until that point, he was smart, he intimidating and of course charming. ;) I really wished they used either a sentient clone or revived version of Cell for Super Hero instead of Cell MAX.

He’s intelligence was hilighted when he laid low and ate some weaker people and gathered power instead of challenging those he knew he couldn’t win against. And as for that charm? Just look at that jaw-line! Actually it’s Dameon Clarke voice that really brings in the charm, the voice sounds like a guy who thinks he the best in world but ya kinda believe him.
I do like that Cell is one of the few villains that worked for his strength (sort of). He took a long time to get prepare for Gero and had to suck? Drink? Kill people to get stronger slowly which adds to a disturbing trait to his design. He than has to absorb two of Gero's creations to obtain his perfect form as opposed to Frieza who just made more forms to suppress his strength (up until super although everything was off screen). Majin Buu just copied Cell's method of gaining power.
i do like cell but he was kinda cheap and cheated to get his true power. all he had to do was absorb 2 androids to reach perfect demolish everybody. until ss2. in comparison to all the saiyans and piccolo during this saga. ya namekian fusion but even after he train'd in the chamber. but cell all he had to sneak around and keep himself alive until he got the chance tho. without his unique DNA traits tho he would be fodderized. if only he realized freezas super potent training buff gains during this arc n combined with saiyan zenkais would been scary OP... 😂😯 cell max just dont live upto to dbz cell hype and never will. i still think its wack they claim he was stronge when he couldnt even regen and was a mechanical based android. a weaker type of androids. oh well tho had to have someone to make beast gohan a thing.
Cell is so broken the only reason he didn't win after becoming perfect is he decided to poke the hornet's nest with Gohan instead of just dipping and shooting a Death Ball at the sun
imagine cell trained for 4 months he was already far stronger than frizea in his inital imperfect form so with training he would easily be Grand priest level at best and with Just A 1 Year of training , he would be stronger than Zeno

I think Toriyama is good at producing what people like, but his own preferences are sub-par. I remember in an interview that he said Semi-Perfect Cell was his favorite. Then, that's what we see in the Super Hero movie.

cell max was pure p.i.s. too. he got hurt by gamma and had one of his body parts fall off...lacking one of og cells most helpful techniques the namek regen. hyped to be so powerful yet got hurt by lower levels. did he even have any DNA of the other fighters?? its implied im guessing cuz he has green skin. which would be from piccolo. i dont think gero left behind full blueprints for remaking cell. i wish tori just let perfect cell max be a thing. but understandable why he choose not to bring back yet another old dbz big bad.
7:35 I don't think Cell's core was destroyed there. Cell's explosion later was much bigger but it still survived, it was just very tiny for anyone to see. The only plothole there was Cell regenerating from his lower body and not from his core but I guess they wanted to keep that as a surprise for later.

Cell is an Incredible Villain Charismatic, Continuously Dangerous, He's even somewhat of a Dark Reflection of Goku: in his Quest to not just be Perfect, the Strongest Being in the Universe, but to Flex it & even Push beyond it by facing the strongest people he could find. What makes Cell who he is, is the Arrogance. He buys into his own hype even more than any other Antagonist. He's Powerful and he knows it. He's smart and he knows it. But even more than that; it's the fact he actually enjoys being challenged. (He doesn't like getting his shit rocked but who does) Most of the other villains hate it, but not Cell. Cell sees Gohan go into Super Saiyan 2 Electric Boogaloo, and keep in mind he can actually sense energy so he knows how big of a jump it is from Super Saiyan, and does he start to panic? No. This is what he's here for. Then when he regenerates as Super Perfect Cell he's Immediately Down for Round 2, he doesn't even seem mad, does that remind you of anyone? Cell's Personality is what makes him Cool. Cell Max is Hirudegarn in a Cell Costume. Another Big Strong thing with no Brain making grunting sounds. Just like Super's Broly. Just like Cell X Why does Cell keep coming back as a big stupid babbling monster?
I don’t think any of us can really comprehend just how TERRIFYING a Perfect Cell Max would be: In addition to all the DNA OG Cell already had, Cell Max would potentially have the DNA and techniques of Gohan, Future Trunks, Gotenks, Majin Buu, Beerus, Broly, Merus, Seven-Three and Moro. In addition to THAT, since he’d have the DNA of at least 6 Saiyans, who’s to say Perfect Cell Max couldn’t use that to achieve his own kind of Super Saiyan God Form and unlock Divine Energy? If all that wasn’t enough, keep in mind that this Prefect Cell Max could potentially have access to Ultra Instinct (due to knowledge from Goku, Beerus, Merus and Moro), Hakai (curtesy of Beerus) and Spirit Fission (curtesy of Vegeta). So yeah, it’s probably a good thing Cell Max DIDN’T have a brain.
God no. A great villain yes I agree. While I semi despise Dragonball Super I grew up with Dragnball Z and can definitely say that it is one of my favorite animes, and that Cell was my favorite villain in DBZ.

Hey Qaaman, if Future Gohan and Future Trunks did a fusion. Either with fusion dance or Potara. Do you think they can hypothetically beat: 17, 18 or Cell or 16(last one is what if)?
Another thing was that Goku and Gohan manipulated Cell in the same way Cell manipulated Vegeta (Whether intentional or not). So in addition to what you said, his saiyan genetics also caused him to fall prey to the same trick he used against Vegeta which was another aspect to his character that made him interesting and showed his great strength was also his great weakness.

You also forgot to mention that Cell has the DNA of other characters that the mc's have fought. Cell was built from the RRA. The Army that Goku fought. He has Piccolo's DNA who Goku also fought. Vegeta who Goku and the Z fighters had to fight and Freiza who Goku and Future Trunks defeated. Cell is literally all of the Z fighters greatest threats built into 1 being. Cell as you said is a perfect final boss. It's almost as if everything that Goku and his friends have been through has led up to the Cell games. Where all their skills and training are all being put to the ultimate test in the android Saga. This arc is where I believe (in story telling) is where dragon ball peaked.
Now that your pointed that out about the Androids. They probably had a taste of what it was like to be hunted down like prey, kinda like what their were doing with Goku originally. That and they weren’t really evil to begin with, they were very merciful compared to their future counterparts and honestly I don’t think they’ve actually killed anyone
Cell was the apex of Dragon Ball writing. He couldn’t have been written any better. Definitely my favorite he should have been the one resurrected in the Super anime. Matter of fact they should have switched places with Freiza and him in Super completely
The Android/Cell arc definitely would’ve been a fitting end for Dragon Ball, as much as I loved the Buu arc for the introduction of fusions, everything just culminated perfectly in the Cell arc, Goku died and passed the torch, Gohan released his potential that was hinted at from the start of the Z portion, and most of all, Cell was a villain that was created with the dna of all the strongest fighters so it was like the Z-fighters fighting a perfect version of themselves which made Cell perfect for a “final boss battle” of the series
Cell being too perfect is the reason I believe why he won't make a return. He like you said can do everything all the other characters can do and more. I love cell he's my favorite villain.
I feel that Cell has way more to offer as a villiain than Frieza who is essentially the same character he has been since the Namek Saga. Cell has shown more progression as a character, never using the same tactic twice and constantly adjusting himself to whatever threat he faces, unlike Frieza who will most likely lose again regardless of how many forms he acquires. Hubris will always lead to his downfall. I just don't see Frieza's character going anywhere in all honesty.

Cell is the first villain to give Akira PTSD. The backstory alone makes Cell a top-tier villain. Hell, the backstory of Cell Max is a callback to Akira's undying hate for Cell.

i'm actually glad Cell DIDN'T come back in the way that he was during his own saga. for me it wouuld've reduced his impact in his own arc and would've been a more obvious repeat of the cell saga itself

for all those "perfect this" and "perfect that" of cell, at the end of the day, since cell is the creation of a man (yes, gero is an adroid but was a human before), he (cell) was not perfect, because for all his brilliance gero was a human and humans tend to make mistakes, no matter how smart they are. In this case, while cell had the power gains of saiyans, the servivalability (i don't know what to call the ability to stay alive while be in pieces) of frieza and the regeneration of namekians, he also had their weakneses (cockyness, anger issues and sensitive hearing).

i do like cell but he was kinda cheap and cheated to get his true power. all he had to do was absorb 2 androids to reach perfect demolish everybody. until ss2. in comparison to all the saiyans and piccolo during this saga. ya namekian fusion but even after he train'd in the chamber. but cell all he had to sneak around and keep himself alive until he got the chance tho. without his unique DNA traits tho he would be fodderized. if only he realized freezas super potent training buff gains during this arc n combined with saiyan zenkais would been scary OP... 😂😯

I think Toriyama is good at producing what people like, but his own preferences are sub-par. I remember in an interview that he said Semi-Perfect Cell was his favorite. Then, that's what we see in the Super Hero movie.

cell max was pure p.i.s. too. he got hurt by gamma and had one of his body parts fall off...lacking one of og cells most helpful techniques the namek regen. hyped to be so powerful yet got hurt by lower levels. did he even have any DNA of the other fighters?? its implied im guessing cuz he has green skin. which would be from piccolo. i dont think gero left behind full blueprints for remaking cell. i wish tori just let perfect cell max be a thing. but understandable why he choose not to bring back yet another old dbz big bad.

7:35 I don't think Cell's core was destroyed there. Cell's explosion later was much bigger but it still survived, it was just very tiny for anyone to see. The only plothole there was Cell regenerating from his lower body and not from his core but I guess they wanted to keep that as a surprise for later.

Cell is an Incredible Villain
Charismatic, Continuously Dangerous, He's even somewhat of a Dark Reflection of Goku: in his Quest to not just be Perfect, the Strongest Being in the Universe, but to Flex it & even Push beyond it by facing the strongest people he could find.
What makes Cell who he is, is the Arrogance. He buys into his own hype even more than any other Antagonist.
He's Powerful and he knows it. He's smart and he knows it.
But even more than that; it's the fact he actually enjoys being challenged. (He doesn't like getting his shit rocked but who does)
Most of the other villains hate it, but not Cell.
Cell sees Gohan go into Super Saiyan 2 Electric Boogaloo, and keep in mind he can actually sense energy so he knows how big of a jump it is from Super Saiyan, and does he start to panic? No. This is what he's here for.
Then when he regenerates as Super Perfect Cell he's Immediately Down for Round 2, he doesn't even seem mad, does that remind you of anyone?
Cell's Personality is what makes him Cool.

I don’t think any of us can really comprehend just how TERRIFYING a Perfect Cell Max would be:
In addition to all the DNA OG Cell already had, Cell Max would potentially have the DNA and techniques of Gohan, Future Trunks, Gotenks, Majin Buu, Beerus, Broly, Merus, Seven-Three and Moro.
In addition to THAT, since he’d have the DNA of at least 6 Saiyans, who’s to say Perfect Cell Max couldn’t use that to achieve his own kind of Super Saiyan God Form and unlock Divine Energy?
If all that wasn’t enough, keep in mind that this Prefect Cell Max could potentially have access to Ultra Instinct (due to knowledge from Goku, Beerus, Merus and Moro), Hakai (curtesy of Beerus) and Spirit Fission (curtesy of Vegeta).
So yeah, it’s probably a good thing Cell Max DIDN’T have a brain.

God no. A great villain yes I agree. While I semi despise Dragonball Super I grew up with Dragnball Z and can definitely say that it is one of my favorite animes, and that Cell was my favorite villain in DBZ.

Another thing was that Goku and Gohan manipulated Cell in the same way Cell manipulated Vegeta (Whether intentional or not). So in addition to what you said, his saiyan genetics also caused him to fall prey to the same trick he used against Vegeta which was another aspect to his character that made him interesting and showed his great strength was also his great weakness.

You also forgot to mention that Cell has the DNA of other characters that the mc's have fought. Cell was built from the RRA. The Army that Goku fought. He has Piccolo's DNA who Goku also fought. Vegeta who Goku and the Z fighters had to fight and Freiza who Goku and Future Trunks defeated. Cell is literally all of the Z fighters greatest threats built into 1 being. Cell as you said is a perfect final boss. It's almost as if everything that Goku and his friends have been through has led up to the Cell games. Where all their skills and training are all being put to the ultimate test in the android Saga.
This arc is where I believe (in story telling) is where dragon ball peaked.

Cell was the apex of Dragon Ball writing. He couldn’t have been written any better. Definitely my favorite he should have been the one resurrected in the Super anime. Matter of fact they should have switched places with Freiza and him in Super completely
The Android/Cell arc definitely would’ve been a fitting end for Dragon Ball, as much as I loved the Buu arc for the introduction of fusions, everything just culminated perfectly in the Cell arc, Goku died and passed the torch, Gohan released his potential that was hinted at from the start of the Z portion, and most of all, Cell was a villain that was created with the dna of all the strongest fighters so it was like the Z-fighters fighting a perfect version of themselves which made Cell perfect for a “final boss battle” of the series

I feel that Cell has way more to offer as a villiain than Frieza who is essentially the same character he has been since the Namek Saga. Cell has shown more progression as a character, never using the same tactic twice and constantly adjusting himself to whatever threat he faces, unlike Frieza who will most likely lose again regardless of how many forms he acquires. Hubris will always lead to his downfall. I just don't see Frieza's character going anywhere in all honesty.

The most interesting thing to me is that the Cell in DBZ is a fraud and a cheat: he came from another timeline to steal their Androids and become Perfect. And he went above and beyond that.

for all those "perfect this" and "perfect that" of cell, at the end of the day, since cell is the creation of a man (yes, gero is an adroid but was a human before), he (cell) was not perfect, because for all his brilliance gero was a human and humans tend to make mistakes, no matter how smart they are. In this case, while cell had the power gains of saiyans, the servivalability (i don't know what to call the ability to stay alive while be in pieces) of frieza and the regeneration of namekians, he also had their weakneses (cockyness, anger issues and sensitive hearing).
