I've been toying with Notion for a while now. At first I was going to use it for everything, including tasks and such, but found myself going back to my bullet journal after a couple of months. Now I think I could use it as a note-taking app and this video is very helpful. I just duplicated the template as well. One thing I really want Notion to add is a widget to quickly open a page and write from the homescreen of your phone... That way you can set the widget up to create the page in inbox and be able to start writing with just one tap to the widget, knowing that the note will be in the proper place for you to move it elsewhere. Opening the app, going to inbox and clicking the new page is still fast, but could be better.

You can see that there is scarcely an observable fact unworthy of mention in your notes, and yet you could easily spend more time scribbling than watching, and that would defeat the purpose. So be selective, don't be compulsive, and enjoy your note-taking.
Notion is probably one of the most powerful apps out there and is the centre of my second brain. It's my primary note-taking app but until it introduces quick document capture and better e-mail support like Evernote, Evernote will still be in my work flow as a filing cabinet.
I've used Evernote for over 10yrs as well and it's been difficult to find something else. Notion is a bit more complicated but the more you use it the more you understand it. I'm not using Notion instead of Evernote, I'm using Notion along with Evernote. Great Video and i've downloaded the Template and cant wait to see what I can do with it!!!!!! Thanks!
I'm trying to use the Web Clipper to clip directly into a notebook or the inbox, but it doesn't come up as an option. It just clips it into the "Note Taking System" page and then I can drag to a notebook. Anyone know how to fix this issue? It's just one more step, but I'd like to have it go directly into a notebook.
I have started using Notion for its to-do list table feature and wanted to see if I liked it for note-taking too. It's alright. I much prefer OneNote for note-taking since it's considerably more flexible, in my opinion. The only thing I found on Notion that OneNote doesn't have (for note-taking/studying) is the toggle feature, which is quite neat. But if Notion works for you when it comes to note-taking, then use that. In fact, I would really appreciate it if people commented features Notion has that make it better than OneNote.
I've been using Notion for the past week. I still haven't gotten it to the point where it's exactly what I need, but I'm taking baby steps and making changes here and there. I really need a day to just sit down and play, but those are hard to get.
Thank you so much for this video! I am currently also using Evernote and it works fine, but I really want to switch to Notion. I started to set it up, but to be honest - I am totally overwhelmed. I tried my best to start but it just didn’t work out and I couldn’t think of any strategy in order to tackle this project. Additionally, it wasn’t to easy because the structure of the app is in English which isn’t my mother tongue ( it is German). Your video helped me to pick up my courage and motivation to continue building that system. Thank you!
This was a great video!!! You have a fan forever!!! I feel that you were spot on with everything u said about systemic racism and I really thank you for that.
I was always interested in Notion but they had some weird privacy gimmicks on Android so I never was able to create an account... I then ended up looking into Ulysses, which turns out to be a great app for note taking. It is basically like a cleaner looking Notion. It is sold as a professional writing app, but it has soooo many ways that you can use it. (Mac/iOS only)
Hey, Thomas, nice video! Since you introduced me to Notion, I have been using my own note-taking system for the past six months in order to write my LLM dissertation. While my system differs in layout from yours, they are pretty similar in terms of being practical AND searchable. I created templates not only for registering the main ideas (excerpts, pages, most important quotes etc.) from the authors, but I created a space for my own thoughts as well (whether I agree, disagree and why). All of these also have their specific view (grid, list etc) with tags which allow me to find specific notes quicker. However, I still have to use Mendeley or Zotero to save metadata from my readings automatically - and I just wonder how great a sync tool would be (Notion and Mendeley/Zotero). In my Notion templates, I add a space to record metadata as well, so I can easily add to my papers or dissertation at a glance. Thanks for introducing me to Notion and to Roamresearch. They've been helping me immensely!
Getting into Notion from Evernote and really enjoyed this video (had to watch it a couple times to understand everything, but I've got it now!). Quick question: how do you decide what belongs in "Notes" vs other planning/content that could be it's own databse? For example, I see that you have a separate RUclips "tracker" database... does that connect at all into your business and/or content notebooks? I would love to see you make a whole video breaking down your entire Notion system. Thank you! :)
Hi, if May I ask the notion I download from your link is quite different from the video clip. I am quite new to notion, can someone give me any suggestions

I'm not using Notion instead of Evernote, I'm using Notion along with Evernote.
Great Video and i've downloaded the Template and cant wait to see what I can do with it!!!!!!
Thanks!
Oh my lord. Thank you Thomas. This is exactly what i'm looking for for my web dev learning. Got yourself a new sub.
Could you please share how you're using notion for web dev learning?
I just use it for revision on my iPad whilst we are in lockdown
I’ve found it really easy
Woo! More notion videos pls 🤤🙌🏼💯
Genius idea having the notebooks right next to the inbox database, so you can easily drag and drop and sort through the inbox. Thanks!
Love the idea of a dedicated Inbox page.
Thank you Thomas, really usefull template + explanatory video :)
I've been using Notion for the past week. I still haven't gotten it to the point where it's exactly what I need, but I'm taking baby steps and making changes here and there. I really need a day to just sit down and play, but those are hard to get.
Well time to scrap my month old attempt at the very same issue thanks a lot Thomas! Jejeje
I hope everyone who reads this has a successful day! ❤️
Great video! Thank you, Thomas!
Thanks for making the video. Learn a lot
Thanks as always Thomas!
(Mac/iOS only)
Noted, cheers Tom 👍
Thank you for the template, Thomas :)
Thank you! :)
Thank you for all you do!!!
He’s baaackk!!
Hi, if May I ask the notion I download from your link is quite different from the video clip. I am quite new to notion, can someone give me any suggestions
Started using this and it’s amazing! One questions tho, it seems like that whenever i create a new notebook, it doesn’t appear in the status dashboard. How to fix this? Thanks!!
He explains it at 7:35
Thanks so much for building this template, Thomas! It's an incredible resource and I'm so happy I don't have to build this on my own.
Thank you SO MUCH for this video! ♥️♥️
This is going to be very, VERY USEFUL!
Thank you again Thomas. Love ya!
