    Clara CANNOT double the Sixth Doctor's ability. Clara says "It triggers an additional time," which the "this triggers only once each turn" trumps. Sixth is literally the only Doctor Clara cannot work with (I'm a bit shaky on whether it works with Fourth, since its a recursive trigger. If it does, two foods).

    • @jamesgasik3424
      @jamesgasik3424 Год назад +16

      'this ability triggers only once each turn' only cares about the permanent it's stapled on, and not any extra permanents that share the same ability.
      "This" on a MtG card means "this specific game object," not "objects that have the same name as this."

    • @Taiyougetsu13

      This doesn't work like that. He says "whenever one or more other cards are out into exile put a time counter..." meaning no matter how many cards are exiled, he only gets one counter per event. To work the way you want, he would have to say "whenever another card is put into exile from anywhere, put a time counter..." or "whenever one or more other cards are put into exile, put that many time counters..."

      @@attackoncardboard 12 has the most flavorful win con I've found in that you foretell Alrunds epiphany, imprint any instant with "return target spell to its owners hand" on isochron scepter. Then you demonstrate Alrunds, the first extra turn to get queued is the opponent's then your copy so you take a turn before them. Before it all resolves you put original back with isochron and just keep doing that while you have Heaven Sent out to just ping for 1 over and over. You may say that's a hell of long combo. Personally, I say that's a hell of a 1/1 bird token.
      Though I can't think of an exact epsidoe it calls to, suspending or flashbacking final fortune then ending the turn after your opponents copy resolves and yours are on the stack with something like Glorious End seems like a very 12 move.

      See, the real thing to do with Clara is to get The Master, Multiplied out, equip Clara with Psychic Paper and Myriad, and have her double up her own triggers. Because remember: the Doctor _told_ her to "Never be cruel, and never be cowardly, and if you are, always make amends. Never eat pears: they're too squishy and they always make your chin wet. That one is quite important, write it down." Or in other words, he told her _to be_ the Doctor. So it only makes sense that you use the Psychic Papers to make her a Human Advisor Doctor, and then make a bajillion copies of her.

    The First Doctor is great for Planechase games, searching up the TARDIS to planeswalk with; especially alongside Susan, since she lets you scry 2 the planar deck before planeswalking.
    The Fourth Doctor I think of as card advantage, since he's letting you play the top card of your library. Even better with flash enablers, which are plentiful in U as you point out in the Sixth Doctor section. Also remember, he lets you play artifact lands, legendary lands, and Urza's Saga off the top as well.
    The Fifth Doctor is also great for Vehicle based decks, since he'll untap all your creatures that crewed that turn (if they didn't enter that turn) so they can crew again on an opponent's turn for better blockers (if you have other untapped vehicles, since the Fifth won't untap vehicles you attacked with)
    The Eighth Doctor is similar to the Fourth in giving card advantage, but the Eighth is letting you re-use cards you already used once. Besides, he's not mutually exclusive with the Sixth; you can have both in the same deck with the right companions, and then you can play a historic spell and copy it, then when it dies later recast it and copy it again.
    The War Doctor is crazy, mostly due to a quirk in the rules: his first ability will trigger _per card_ if you have an "exile until X card is revealed" effect. For example, pairing him with Ryan (yes, a Doctor-Companion pair that doesn't add a third color) will add a ton of counters every time Ryan attacks; and if they both attack, you can stack the on attack triggers so Ryan's resolves first to pump War, then War's on attack resolves to deal big damage. Any other "exile until X" effect works too: cascade, Guff Rewrites History, Indomitable Creativity, Plargg and Nassari, Possibility Storm, etc.

      Things that eleventh has going for it vs tenth. Partnering with Amy pond the only companion that assists in getting suspended cards on the board gives the deck a 3rd color. 2 CMC cheaper. Trigger is on combat damage, not attack, so double strike gives 2 triggers. Comes with his own evasion for him AND Amy pond.

    I think the part you thought maybe missing about 11th is that 10th doctor gets something random meanwhile you can get a card in your hand suspended with 11th both him and amy are lowish mana so suspending a maybe 10 mana card would be amazing and 11 will give amy unblockable so maybe in 2 turns you get a 11 mana spell which you planned and even if your commanders are removed the suspend is still on.

    • @Kilaknux
      @Kilaknux Год назад

      Not wrong, but that's still fairly fragile - Amy is very vulnerable to removal or just getting tapped over and over, plus it relies on you having something good in your hand without any inherent draw or tutor ability to ensure you do. It's as random as the 10th, but considerably less reliable.

    Something either funny or horrible you can do with the 12th Doctor, if you play a card with a massive downside, like Glorious End for example, you can force them to copy it and let it end them. In the Glorious End example, their copy would go off exiling yours on the stack so you don't get the downside, but they sure do. you're overthinking the 11th doctor, you just weenie your way to victory and make everything unblockable. So all those hate-bears? make em unblockable and turn cards sideways, that's it.
    Being able to make any weenies unblockable for only 2 mana is way way better than you think it is. Compare it to "Access tunnel" which has the same exact ability (target creature w power 3 or less can't be blocked) with a cost of 3+the land (4 lands total) or Rogues passage for 5 total tapped lands and you can see how strong that ability can be for only 2 mana.
    Plus the natural card draw white/blue has (things like Bident of Thassa and other "draw when you hit" cards) with the ability to suspend cards, and it even recovers really quickly from boardwipes. They wipe the board, but you have 2 or 3 cards on suspend that just get put out into play for free post-wipe and it doesn't even set you back.
    Played against a friend who put out a "Mischievous Catgeist" on turn 2 (draw card when it hits), and I didn't have an answer for it, so he drew a card, then he made it unblockable for like 4 turns in a row and kept drawing cards and suspending cards, he always had a full grip and a dangerous wide board. Even after I wiped the board, he put the catgeist disturb aura onto something else and kept swinging in unblocked and kept drawing cards, I really didn't have any answers to that kind of unrelenting unblockable wide board.

I love the idea of Azorius, upholders of law, truth, justice cheating cards into play with a simple guessing game, Oh look I cast an Eldrazi for free, Cascade for free, Suspend cards without CMC are free... I wouldn't put this Doctor so highly but having a 3/6 body keeps them around and the Cast trigger on his ability is everything, if it was a simple Play trigger they could put lands into play but never get the Cast effects on certain cards.
