    The reason why most top players pre - shot practice swings are much slower is because they are trying to stay focused and more relaxed whilst mentally visualising their next shot to hopefully create an auto response swing combining mind and body which I might add takes year's of practice, basically there's no point wasting valuable energy and resources on practice swings

    Amazing, now that's how we all should strike the ball. Great forward hip movement ;)

      And it only took hum a lifetime of having an amazing coach, equipment, time/$ to play for hours every day, and tons of practice.
      Yeah we should all be able to do this. That's like saying we should all be able to play basketball like Kobe 😆. He shot 1,000 free throws a day btw. Literally.

    At top of backswing weight is off the left leg slightly, then he shifts his weight back on the left leg. Then that triggers the turning of the hips and shoulders.

    Rory does a great job of staying stacked over the ball which every golfer must do to hit the ball long and straight!

    ... Which loooong iron??? 3 or 4?

  • @Gitfiddle
    @Gitfiddle 7 лет назад

    All good iron players hit down on the ball hence compressing it. That's what gives you that powerful strike with back spin so it holds in the green. As the clubs get longer it feels more like you are sweeping the ball of the ground. At least that's what it feels like to me.

  • @JayZoop
    @JayZoop 7 лет назад +2

    After he turns his hips the Shoulders turn very sharp around his spine. I at times forget to turn my shoulders.

    Off the back foot, with hands forward... great punch shot, never in my life have I played a long iron off the back foot as loft is taken off a club which is a low lofted club... amazing shot...bet he nailed it too...

    • @AgencyEric
      @AgencyEric 10 лет назад +2

      It's not that far back, as the camera is not set straight on Rory. Ball looks to be just ahead of mid stance...a little further back than what might be considered standard, but nothing drastic

    • @EyeAmBatman
      @EyeAmBatman 10 лет назад

      I don't know that club looks angled a good bit further back from hand position at address and it looks like he's using a very strong grip on left hand to close clubface earlier to square it at ball on downswing.. But I do agree camera probably makes it look more drastic.. wish the cameramen would get a more perpendicular view to a players front view.at address.

    If you can manage to pause at moment of contact, notice his shaft lean and his left wrist is angled slightly and right wrist is angled more. That is how you make contact with the ball.

    Hey I was wondering. I see a lot of pros do practice swings that are far slower and almost different than their actual swing when hitting. Why do they do this? My practice swing is generally exactly what i'm planning to do to the ball. Someone tell me what i'm missing :) Thanks!

    • @jayo2010
      @jayo2010 10 лет назад +1

      when he is practising he is rehearsing a paticular shot shape, once he feels he has it on the correct line he takes his real swing which is just a faster version of what was rehearsed

    • @DigDeeper23
      @DigDeeper23 10 лет назад

      Some pros do this just to get out any nerves before a shot or just to relax the arms and body so that they don't tense up during the shot or at least not as bad

      Your body can get tired after playing a full round of golf. When you do numerous practice swing your actually lengthening the amount of golf you play that day. Ben Hogan would even do his practice swing without his right thumb and index finger on the club since he had such a strong grip and would often wear on his hands.

    • @jon6387

      david lyons
      why?

    • @AustinHammy32
      @AustinHammy32 9 лет назад

      Randsurfer because it forces you to bring the club more inside which induces right to left spin on the ball (that's assuming you return the club back through the inside and not re route the club to the outside on the downswing)
      But to be even more technical, more than a just a draw, it induces and "push draw" which is when the ball goes outside and comes back inside and not a "pull draw" aka "pull hook"

    I just saw my swing in slow mo yesterday and it looks a lot like Rory's. My head just moves a bit more than his. I'm not nearly as good player as him but with a bit more strenght and practice I could become quite good. I just play golf for fun but it would be nice to hit the ball further and better.
