GBY you are a wizard; a true star! Thank you SO MUCH for so succinctly explaining and using dynamic EQ. Every time I listen to you and JG, I learn something valuable. Thank you my friend!
I’ve been using Studio One for about 6 months now and I always look forward to Gregor’s and Joe’s videos to learn something new. Today that new thing is the “D” button in the ProEQ bands, which ‘til this moment, I didn’t know existed.
This is something that's been pointed out to me many times in my musical journey but the way you've explained it just clicks. I get it now. Thanks a ton, Gregor!
As always when I hit a snag on StudioOne Gregor comes up with the answer! To be honest, I would have moved from studio one to another DAW, except for Greg is intelligent, precise, and detailed explanations of how this product works, and how to make it fit for my purpose. Once again, Gregor excellent exclamation.
Have u moved from studio one to other daw ???? Why ..and wich daw plz ... Ans ar u going to com back to studio one or no ??? U told that georg is good and axelent
what a great advice! this will surely solve an issue I got with the beautifully improvised piano outro of my last album's title track which is also closing it. I wasn't even aware of that one note in the lower mids completely ruining it for everyone who is listening to it on their cellphone or desktop speakers. Neither my home studio's carefully set up monitors (2 ADAM T5V's and my super reliable 25 years old Speed Link Gravity 2.1 system) nor my cheap car speakers really revealed the unpleasant, distorted "wooomp" spoiling the sad and moody last two minutes of the record. Any of my later attempts at unobtrusively fixing the problem completely failed - either at being unobtrusive or at fixing anything, often at both. But the dynamic EQ really could do the trick, thanks for that! and... yes, please more of that kind of stuff (y)
These peaks are been the bane of my life (I do a lot of ambient stuff with long, sustained notes and huge polychords, so these peaks become very obvious and can ruin a piece), and I've been doing it the old-school way which is a) a ball-ache and b) deadens a lot of the original audio content - THANK YOU for pointing this out! I'm working on a 30-minute piece inspired by H.P. Lovecraft right now and this will help save so much of the character of the weird sounds I've come up with for it :)
This is wonderful! You are absolutely right, this method is all about preserving the original sonic quality of the sound whilst surgically removing these pesky issues. I hope this method works as well for you as it does for me. :) -GBY
so just use a dynamic eq. you can also use multi band saturation and compression. you can use side chains on these and your eq to a envelope generator.
Hi, most Multiband Compressors have very broad filter slopes, so targeting a very specific frequency in a tight range is difficult. It's like shooting at sparrows with a cannon. The Dynamic EQ on the other hand can deal with these frequency peaks with incredibly transparency and surgical precision. -GBY
This is exactly the kind of advice we need.👌 How to solve problems that appear during the mix. As many techniques as possible, used by professionals.🤩 If as many of us Studio One + members as possible improve our technical knowledge, we will eventually, with the success that follows, make Studio One the leading DAW for the benefit of all of us who use it.😊 Thank you Gregor for your instructions.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Greetings from Slovenia from Robert.
Yes, that was amazing. I have so much trouble with the recording of my classic/flamenco guitars. There are so many problems with the different notes of the guitar.. This here could help me. So my studio one pro 5 doesn't have this? Is this pro eq version available as a standalone plugin also or just with version 6?
Yeah, resonance spikes are a big one when equalizing. Treating them really helps brings clarity to your mix, and I agree, using an analyzer is really helpful for identifying resonance spikes quickly. Speaking of EQ, any chance the S1 EQ will get mid/side and left/right EQ any time? A Q factor on the high and low pass filters would be nice too. :D
Hi, did you know that you can turn ProEQ - or any other Plug-in, for that matter - into a mid/side or left/right processing Plug-in in Studio One - with just a couple of clicks? :) Here's how: ruclips.net/user/shorts5zTPimio3d8 -GBY
That's awesome, basically like automation for EQ. I'm a dinosaur and have always used studio one 2 with the stock eq that doesn't have this "automation" feature. Is it free to upgrade if I already paid for studio one 2 pro?
Hey Gregor. There's an issue with Open Air. It's my go to reverb but when I reopen an old session all of the EQ on the reverb is deactivated and I have to go to every reverb and turn the EQ on. Is there a setting to prevent this?
Good day. I live in Ukraine and use the official version of Studio One Artist. Since I do not speak English, I often use printed versions of your suggestions for working with the program. I also rewatch the video, I guess about the content only from practical illustrations. I would really like to have a printed text and a video (not a picture) of practical demonstrations. If you are planning to expand the circle of your users, it is advisable to consider my suggestion. Sincerely, Yepik Volodymyr.

Great stuff! Spectrum meter is great but I would love to see an additional longer term average setting like Voxengo Span average. The long term average is great for making static EQ adjustments and then this method addresses the peaks dynamically and both steps combined are the start of my mastering process. Ideally a series of average times all the way up to four minutes wine Fantastic. Don’t tell to submit a ticket because those guys don’t solve problems they are in the business of closing tickets.
Hi, definitely - although that would work across the whole range, not just on the problematic frequency. More often than not, I prefer treating the issue only in the frequency range where it occurs. :) -GBY
The sound lost it's character with the eq notch method because you cut the frequency way to much, you don't want to completely get rid of it just reduce it enough to fix the problem without losing the character. Rebalance the harmonic not remove it altogether, no need for dynamic eq in this case.
Dynamic EQ would be the superior method whenever a frequency problem is intermittent. No need to cut frequencies when they're not problematic - only as soon as they become problematic, that's when the EQ interferes. This is the true power of dynamic EQing in my opinion. -GBY

Welcome to the club
today I learned that Pro-Eq was a low key multi band compressor! Thank you Gregor!
...and one with much more precise filter slopes, no less! :) -GBY

As always, great tip!
Thank you , I love PreSonus Studio One 🤩👍
Good stuff! Very useful. Thanks!
very good topic. I continue to learn how to use this dynamic eq. So helpfull!
Yet another awesome tip, thank you Gregor!
I do this all the time using FabFilter Q3
That's a super useful suggestion! Thank you -- will definitely be trying that
Awesome tip, Devils in the details. Thank you!
Gregor killing it again :D great video
Excellent! Thank you Gregor! 🙏🕊️
Great info Gregor. Happy holidays
Definitely get a lot from this content, and I'm slowly working my way through all the different features you've covered. Many thanks!
Very helpful! Never knew that the ProEQ came with the dynamic EQ effect!

Hi, it sounds like ProEQ3 is exactly what you need to get these guitar resonances under control. ProEQ3 is available in Studio One version 6. -GBY
I knew both technics but I didnt know that the standard Pro EQ has a dynamic EQ. Thanks!
Fantastic tip, Gregor !
Very helpful! Thank you very much!
Many thanks Gregor...this is exactly the sort of tip that is SO useful. More please!
Great tip Thank you

Thanks for the warning of something to watch out for, and how to fix it. Your solution is sort of like a frequency specific simple compressor.
Love ur music and your wisdom !! Master Gregor!
🙏 -GBY
thanks for this information
Gregor is the man
🙏 Thanks so much! -GBY
Really useful tip Gregor. Keep them coming!
Thanks so much! So glad you're finding these videos helpful. :) I'll make sure to keep them coming! -GBY

Man your jamming.... you was ready to get out your seat and Dance the Night Away!!!!!! 😂❤
Yooooo, I been rocking with Studio One for years now, and my man Gregor, explains things so well. Nice work!!!
Thank you so much! -GBY
THIS WAS AWESOME!!! Seriously, this can apply to so many situations. This "lesson" is really helping me understanding dynamic EQ.
So glad it was helpful! Thanks Shawne. -GBY
Thanks Gregor! I record with a lady who can get some wild sibilance going. I will try that with those frequencies!

Hi, I like the dynamique EQ, however, not on my version (Studio One 5). What is the lowest version with this feature available?
Hi, ProEQ3 is available in Studio One version 6. -GBY
Great tip !!!
Presonus have almost got the perfect EQ now with ProEQ3. They just need to add Mid Side processing.

Thank you Gregor, great tip! Maybe we could also use a clipper for the synth, just a bit. Or a compressor just for the peaks.
Hi, definitely - although that would work across the whole range, not just on the problematic frequency. More often than not, I prefer treating the issue only in the frequency range where it occurs. :) -GBY
@@presonus Maybe you could invent a dynamic clipper and compressor for S1?
Keep up the great content!
Thanks so much! So glad you're finding these videos helpful. :) I'll make sure to keep them coming. ❤️ -GBY
Can i use thos eq move on a full mix
Absolutely! -GBY
Where is the spectrum meter in Studio one 6?
Hi, you'll find the Spectrum Meter in the "Effects" Browser (in the "PreSonus" folder). -GBY
The news feed in Studio One's menu is underrated af lol
Great!
This video saved my life 🤣🤣🤣💯
Wow!
Also me 😊
why AUTOSCROLL keeps turning OFF ??? its a non-sense :-(
Whats with Bass on phone speaker. How to increase that?😊
Oeksound soothe2 ist dein Freund…. kein Quatsch .
Ich bin müde…. Zeit für einen kurzen Schlaf… 🛌
clipper :)

This videos audio is out of sync
Hi, apologies for this! The middle section is misaligned due to a mistake in editing. :) -GBY
Great tip. Too bad I still have the first EQ plugin which doesn't have that dynamic feature. Still using version 2.6 pretty effectively.
Very helpful. Thanks a lot !
Great!
