- Hi guys! Thanks for tuning in! This week we're going to try to get this 1947 Chrysler Royal to actually move... I bought this fine automobile years ago from a local junkyard and it is time to get it going! We got it running a couple of weeks ago, but now it it is time to see if the old "Fluid Drive" transmission still has any life in it, but there are a few small problems to sort out first! Then, Dean joins us for an episode of "Light Buzz" and we'll tackle refreshing the generator for our 1959 Buick LeSabre project!
Our 8mm film is back from the developer; I'll be including bits of it in the next several weeks' videos... Hope you enjoy these clips; I cropped them to fit this time. Special thanks to Steve Dean and Niagra Film Labs in Toronto.
Thanks to everyone who subscribed to our channel here, and thanks also for all of your "likes" and comments!

Go get 'er Scott...Roll that baby on down the highway 🛣️
19:00 Tom recounting his landscaping adventures to someone off-camera as Scott embarks on the worst oil change ever completed by mankind is hilarious
😅
We now know Top Secret Camera Girls name, Honeybunny!
I think that’s her handle, beyond an agent number(?)
Yes there is a new faint vibe going on in the background. We'll it is spring.
Sounds like a Bond girl. Exciting lol
We all know she's Agent 001 ...
It's hilarious that You guys are frenzied to know exactly who She is.
Baawaaahaha !!!!
The 77 year old Chrysler moving under its own power, makes you feel a respect for the old low tech old school cars. The Veterans of WW2 would be amazed to see it rolling again. Cheers
Mind blowing to think the war had ended only 2 years before that was new
Beautiful car…
Love the Chrysler's "burble-y" sound - like an idling speedboat!
“Your teachers all wanted to assassinate you.”
Priceless!!! That’s so Dean!
It's a shame that some prior owners so neglected and abused that once beautiful old burgundy Chrysler. That was once a magnificent automobile. Especially looking forward to work on the Sport Suburban and the SM. Thanks!
You're SO lucky Tom wasn't there when you said "Honey Bunny". You never would have heard the end of it. You're also lucky you have someone you can call "Honey Bunny" 😉
Your niece is doing a great job documenting your shenanigans! It's awesome how family and your best mates pitch in!
Scott and Dean Driving Miss Franker's too funny😅😅😅
Chauffeur and Footman!
54:57 Ahh. 300 six. One of the best engines ford's ever produced and the best one they've ever put in a pickup, SUV, or Van.
The 1947 Chrysler Royal may not make it to a full rebuild but it gives her the Full Flush of what she once was. Thinking of those cars going to the wreckers in the '60s breaks my heart. We used to live beside a wrecker in the early '60s and I remember climbing into those cars and trucks pretending to drive one. Wish I could now. Thanks gents! Have a good week.
Opening looks like a late 50s used car lot. Such a grand spectacle.
You can see the WWII veteran with the wife and kids going to town. The mohair interior, sparkling chrome and wide white wall tires with all the windows down. Damn they don't make them like that anymore.
It tells you a lot about the prevailing styling trends of the immediate post-WW2 era. These weren't so much cars as buildings on wheels - just look at the front and grille of the Royal, part Wurlitzer organ, part municipal concert hall / theatre. No concessions to aerodynamics here!
Got beer, darts, and jerky. I'm ready for another episode of the best Utube channel 👍
Hi Scott and everyone my thanks to everyone involved Saturday video was just great so glad you got the 1947 Chrysler Royal moving under its own power so great to see FRANKERS Dean and Tom and Steve and Honeybunny Always a joy to watch you all are the best i hope all of you have a great week cheers.😊👍✌🍺
Glad you enjoyed it, James! Cheers from here...
47:25 "I'm Happy, I'm just tight but I'm not Torque Value Tight..." Fabulous Dean quote. Call the T-shirt/Beer Cozy printers!
Another one running and driving that nobody would ever give a second thought. Love to see this kind of old obscure stuff. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
The past couple of weeks have been pure classic CWM. I'm still laughing from last week at Monsieur Dean.
Scott, I think you had said that contributions from viewers helped you keep ads off of the channel. I, for one, will watch the channel (as I have been doing since pre-Kaiser) no matter how many ads show up. So if you can use that money to buy parts, go for it, let the ads run, I'm sure that all of us will watch no matter what. We watch for the content.
Combining the voiceovers with overhead drone footage gives the show some award-winning-documentary-level video quality. Damn fine editing!
Also, thank you for giving that Chrysler rolling dignity in its old age.
Poor old chrysler wants to live and certainly enjoys the affection it's getting.
Those old radiators are so majestic and better than the stuff today.
Have you ever seen in the movies when they crack open a casket and skeleton pops up and it's covered in old dust and cobwebs? That's what the underneath of the 47 Chrysler reminds me of. 😂
But of course it can sit for 50 years and still start up and drive and even have the damn oil pressure gauge still working because stuff was built to last back then. Great to see it moving around under it's own power.
Glad to see the 47 moving under its own power. The drone shots in the field were awesome.
Loved seeing the Chrysler moving around under it's own power, and the 364 looks factory fresh, just like it came down the assembly line.
Best channel ever
Getting the Royal to run was a magnificent feat in its own right, and getting it to move under its own power a colossal achievement--given the sorry state of--well everything. Yet another perfect 10 score in the CWM WOT Olympics.
Thanks so much David! Glad you enjoyed this one... All the best from everyone here!
7:00 we need to get some high quality "layin' on" cardboard for this gentleman.
Good times 🎉 I have always wanted a harmonica grill Chrysler
Amazing revival! Nice to see the Royal actually pulling itself around. The nail head is looking great! Cheers! 😎👍🏎🏁🏁
Shows how even old things can still be made to work. The Chrysler and Tom for two examples!!
Such a shame the ‘47 is so far gone. The cruise around the property and the sound was well worth the effort to make her go. Never seen one before except for that one.😊 Hope Dean is done scrapping with himself, heal up fine soon.
It's amazing how it idles smoothly and runs after we saw water and piston ring bits come out of the sump.
Another nice 8mm opening Scott.
It's a beautiful Saturday and I'm watching CWM starring Franker's and the squirrels.
Nothing like hearing old tractors!
Have a fantastic week everyone!
Thank you Scott and agents and patrons.
Having personal experience with 8mm film, I can tell you it that when done right, it just doesn't look like this. It's very artificially aged. My grandfather gave me an 8mm film camera, a projector and a silver screen when I was a teenager in the 80s. They still sold and developed the film back then. I shot quite a few reels of the film. It looked so much better than what is being shown in the video. I asked Scott about it and he says this is exactly what they sent him.
If the blank film is already old when you use it, the results will look aged. It happened to me
Great to see the old Chrysler chugging arounder under it's own power. As a result of the time and effort yuo put in, I'm pleased to announce that you have been selected as a member the Canadian Team for the Time Wasters International Olympics, Automotive Division. Time well wasted. Congratulations.
great to see the 47 running and moving again brilliant. those ol ford vans were good ones .just like the rest the salt kills every thing. thanks for the buzz and a good time. cheers guys.
Amazing you got the old girl to move congratulations
Hah! I was saying ,"just leave the chain , shut off the tractor " when I saw the chain tight[grin]...it was like mind reading .
I see the Graveley is ready for action !
I would love mow your "estate" and maybe do some creative patterns with the mow lines .[grin] especially after some left handed cigarettes! I have driven 10 or more types of commercial riding mower doing lawn service down here. Your Gravely would be another notch on my "gun", lol
Hey Scott , I was thinking you could lift the car up with the fork lift and use a power washer to clean the underside ...put a couple posts under the forks for safety? [grin]
I love anything that shows old machines being repaired instead of discarded. That feels like my family back in Georgia and everyone here in Costa Rica.
While I know the Chrysler would never get restored, it would be nice to see it eventually get a couple of rough floor board patches if nothing else just have a good place to put your feet and a jerry can while yard cruising. Love seeing it move under its own power again.
The rebuilt 364 with friends shows Scotts COMPLETE DEDICATION to restoring classics, unlike all other gear head youtubers I like watching. Scott deserves every generous patron he has and then some.
Try that with any of today's vehicles in 77 years! Hell it didn't even smoke that bad.
\Thank you. You made my weekend!
Scott, I was impressed with your windshield cleaning skills on the "Belvedere out of the barn" show. I'm sure if you want to go pro you would be a great success on the busy streets of New York city. A proper squeegee would instill confidence in your prospective clients. Good Luck and Cheers!
Bring on the T-shirt because I need a new addition to my collection! My wish came true-seeing the old Chrysler move about under its own power 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️🔧✌🏻
Awesome! T-shirt coming soon! Cheers...
Even in its finial dilapidated days it's still a handsome car. Thanks for another great video.
That wonderful old Chrysler sounds GREAT!!
Another running, driving unit in the bunch. Incredible.
Stephen's van is sounding really good. Nice to see it again.
1:03:30 i will never forget the paint job FALLING off of the Van due to extreme cold. your repaint has held up AMAZING!!
Driving Miss Francine
The old Roy-Al looks so happy to be moving around again. Maybe dig up a matched set of hub caps now. Cheers Everyone ! 🍺🤛😎👍
Unbelievable! The Zombie Chrysler lives! 😳The 364 looks mint, too! Nice work, Scott.
Have to say Scott that I've been watching this channel for over a decade now and it's a weekly ritual to tune in and see the shenanigans. Really appreciate the effort you go to. Roll on finishing the SM!
Awesome, thank you for watching this stuff for so long now!
What a beauty! The Chrysler Royal is a runner, a mover, a testament to Cold War passions!
Great fix, using the brake pedal for the clutch!
I really thought that the Chrysler had you beat! You are the definition of perseverance!👍
Hello there Scott. I'm trying to get where you are in life. I'm not trying to change the world. Just play with my old cars, hang out with buddies, and try to take care of my community. I aquired 5 acres so I now have room for more junkers. I have a dozen or so already. Just fun to tinker. Thankyou for putting on the show. A highlight of my week every week. Always as inspiring as it is entertaining. Cheers - Kory - Alabama USA
Butter removes boot polish, but, good work. Good to see Dean chilled out for once. Lol
1946-49 Chrysler Royal/Windsor 251/114 h.p.
That Chrysler is beautiful! First years after the War..the pride and joy of American mechanical ability. I find it hard to accept that Scott won't answer the challenge here. Full restore on the 47! Bright yellow! Let's go CWM!
Another spectacular Saturday event! Down in Cuba the 47 would be considered a late model... of course it would have a diesel boat motor in it by now. Thanks for the hard work you do and cheers from the shed
The '47 Chrysler proves that perseverance and some parts swapping will pay off. Why worry about driving around with a gas can inside the car? No smoking, Ms. Frankers!
The Buick 364 looks cleaner and more dazzling than when it left the factory.
The Econoline's 300 really purrs.
You guys do great work!
SO GREAT, to see that old Chrysler toodling around the yard! Runs pretty good considering.
Dean and Light Buzz--a marriage made in heaven!😆
Thanks for the episode and cheers to you, Frankers and all the agents. ⭐
Hey thanks guys! All the best from everyone here to all of you at Nick's!
Just dropped buy, So great! I'm 82 yrs. born in 1941 and this was the family car for at least the first ten years of my life if not more. I used to kneel on the back seat and play with my toys on the ledge by the rear view window. My favorite spot. One day a trolley car pulled right up behind us and scared the shit out of me with it's psyclopian giant headlight eye staring at me inches from the back window. It took me a long time to feel comfortable again in my privet rear view spot. PS The interior of our was a smokie warm beige felt, like dress gloves and the car was classic shiny black. Thanks so much, could not have written this without you guys. At 82 yrs I'm starting to feel like the underside of your car looked. haha cheers Martin Our car was a 41, I see your is a 47 well no difference
I’ve never seen drain oil as bad as that. What a testament to the ruggedness of those old Chryslers.
So, it's never going to win any awards or ribbons but it moves itself around and "purrs" like a kitten !! Somehow, so satisfying and rewarding !!! Let's go start the old Chrysler and run it around the yard a bit. Are you commin Frankers ??? ;o) 👍👍👍👍
Really glad to see the old Chrysler running. Wish it was restorable, I love how long it is.
must have been fun as kid to ride in that thing when it was new. Looking forward to seeing the 59 Buick restored and on the road. One of my favorite cars too!
You and me both!
I love this channel. I never know what we will see from week to week, but I always know that it deserves a big 👍 before I start to watch. I can almost see someone proudly wheeling the Chrysler home in 1947 and friends stopping by to admire and go for a ride. Thank you Scott for all the video and editing each week. 👍💯
WOW! GREAT SHOW SCOTT!! MY FIRST CAR IN 1965 WAS A 1949 CHRYSLER, SPITFIRE 6 AND FLUID DRIVE. COST ME $75 DOLLARS. GOT AN ENTIRE SUMMER OUT OF IT. MY FRIEND HAD A 53 FORD CUSTOM LINE WITH A SIX/STICK. HE BEAT ME TWICE DRAGGING IT. THE THIRD RUN I FLOORBOARDED IT DUMPED THE CLUTCH. YEAH, ALL KINDS OF FUNNY NOISES, AND THE ONLY GEAR IT HAD THEN WAS NEUTRAL. LUCKILY HE HAD A ROPE IN THE TRUNK AND TOWED ME BACK HOME THE WHOPPING 1 MILE BEFORE MY PARENTS GOT HOME FROM WORK. MY BROTHER CHIPPED IN 37.50 AND OWNED 1/2 OF IT. I NEVER LIKED HIM WHEN I MET HIM ANYWAY. STUPID THINGS 15 YEARS OLD DO, EH?
Again, love the Super 8 opening. The cars fit right into the vibe.
Getting the big bulbous Royal going was almost magic. The engine purrs nicely and the body looks nice with the variable paint camouflaging the irregularities somewhat.
The paint colors on the econoline are great.
Thanks
"YO" Tom, that's the Man that can teach you about some mind bugling stuff. This Generation had some unique Common Sense, these are the Ones that taught me that theirs nothing you can't do but to just do IT!!! Cheers Guys, Love Your Content, "O" I almost forgot about your handy helper, Hi handy Helper, your doing a kick as# JOB!!!...
I love seeing those old “left for dead” cars being given a second life! Thanks for taking the time to make these wonderful videos!
Nice to see Dean in the Light Buzz segment. He got into heavy buzz mode pretty quick though. 😀
That is amazing that with that bit of work the old Chrysler is putting around your yard. The fact that the transmission still works is hard to believe but I watched it go under its own power. Well done Scott, another great win.
Excellent flat head. I love such engines, a long time ago in Russia I upgraded the GAZ-51 engine (a copy of the Chrysler flathead 6 engine). it gave 90 hp to the new ones, I brought it up to 150 hp. it was cool. Realy i like yoour chanal
I knew you were Canadian as soon as you said, "rad".
Another great episode and a relaxing way to end a Saturday at the weekend place. Thanks to everyone.
Forgive me for laughing when the Chrysler started driving. Oh my.
Congrats for the 47 Chrysler Royal, being a runner, and now it's a mover. It was a blast seeing it roll around. Those old long wheelbase sedans really have a presence. And now looking forward to the nailhead running.
Nice to see the dog from the neverending story runing.
Certainly, a ‘Royal’ CWM interlude, for sure! Scott’s 70+ year after-market modifications to the clutch pedal found in the debris ridden trunk made believers out of all of us. Special nominations for best supporting players to Camera Girl for her good work; good neighbor Tom for his appearance which always adds a air of legitimacy to the proceedings; and of course Dean who’s consistently positive about machines which others who’ve given up on. Thanks for the bright moments!.
Oh yeah, put me down as a “yes” on the Royal v, Packard challenge.
Which made me realise that we have not seen Details Dave in a long time. I hope he is well, as well as his car. Send him my best, I am a fan.
Great to see the Chrysler move under its own power, the old girl looked quite stately driving round your place.
Great episode. The Chrysler worked out. I always wonder what it would be like to drive when they were new. The Nail Head is looking great! Nice to see Steven again. Thanks so much for sharing Scott and the team!
Wow, after reading the comments, I surprised how a little anonymity is questioned. Another great show!
Scott, you know I like that car!
Congrats on getting it moving under its own power.
thanks for showing that chrysler some love
I have been watching all of your stuff for probably a decade and I remain a big fan.
That's very kind of you to say, John... Cheers from here!
Thanks Scott & Agents for another fun filled adventure. That Chrysler is a beast!!
If you squinted your eyes during the Chrysler's field drive, you could get a sense of it's former glory- well done, and cheers!
For a long time I have been a black wall tire guy. Recently, I am enjoying seeing whitewalls more and more. And white letter and outline letter tires. For example, this big old Chrysler definitely looks better with whitewalls.
A testament to the old flat head. It barely even smokes. At least as far as the camera picks up.
"Now I dont have to tow it to the junk yard." LOL. You could spray the bottom of that car with the "oil" thats came out of it. Another few years of rust free driving.
Mortske gave you a mention this week. FYI
Love the Chrysler Good show. Dean is funny.
Hello Scott and crew. Just a thought on the Buick engine. You might want to consider adding a PCV. It very beneficial for longer engine life and can be done easily. It's a small upgrade that doesn't spoil the look of the vintage nailhead.
The overhead and long view shots remind me of Morgan Freeman if the movie were titled Driving Miss Doozie . Nice to see the old gal moving on her own. The engine now sounds pretty good
Another great Saturday invite. Of all the words you'd never thought would be uttered in the compound " Hunny Bunny" is way up the shortlist for sure. Thanks for visit .
Cool old Chrysler , nice to see it moving under it's own power. The Buick engine looks nice. Thank you for all the effort u put into all the videos. I love the channel ! Keep up the good work. 😊
Thank you Dean, for your sacrifice to entertain us. You were an awesome mime. Not sure how well your trust is placed letting someone use shoe polish as make up.....we understand the sacrifice. Cheers!!
