    The OLED model definitely feels more premium and less fragile compared to the OG Switch (glass panel instead of a plastic one, smaller bezels, both the console _and_ the much larger kickstand are made of metal instead of a tiny piece of plastic for the kickstand on the OG one…), and i'm glad thet slightly upgraded its storage (64 GB is still small but it's better than 32 GB, I have a 200 GB micro SD card anyway lol).

      I really hope the next gen Switch carries over this premium feel the OLED model has

    You should use the standard screen mode instead of vivid. Standard is quite nicely calibrated and you‘re gonna see the games as they were intended by the developers. On vivid, everything is saturated to ridiculous amounts, you‘re effectively destroying the creator‘s intent with that.

    Wah, nice coincidence, just got a Switch OLED as well, literally yesterday, but in my case that's my first Switch. Also the first console I bought brand new since 2009.

    • @rodrigodavet7512
      @rodrigodavet7512 Год назад +3

      @@MrGoldenfresh Why not? The "newest" console I had before the Switch was a 3ds. I don't have any 8th or 9th gen console. I don't think we're getting the Switch successor for at least another year, maybe even an year and a half. I am a Nintendo fan. There's tons of games I want to play on it. A Switch, where I live, is cheaper than any current gen console(except for the Series S, but I like my physical games), and about the same price as a used PS4. So, again, why not?

    • @MrGoldenfresh
      @MrGoldenfresh Год назад

      @@rodrigodavet7512 it's a $450 investment when it's the end of the consoles life? Either get it in 2017, or wait until the next gen launch. I've never understood people who spend hundreds on shit when the next thing is less than a year away....

      @@MrGoldenfresh Whatever dude, I didn't had the money before, I had the money now, IT'S MY MONEY, and I wanted to buy it. That's enough reason for me.
      Also, even if the next console came out tomorrow, it would probably cost around 1000$ in my country, a lot more than what I paid for mine, so I wouldn't have the money for it.

      @@MrGoldenfreshif he is into japanese and indie games then there are TONS of them on switch. And probably by the time he completes even half of them the next nintendo console will get cheaper (maybe not if he's a hardcore gamer and/or uses his switch as main system). Got my switch year ago and I had to make a list of games that I want to play since there are too many of them (still it isn't complete).

    I bought mine last week as an upgrade to my almost 3-year-old Switch Lite that I got back in 2020 from my parents, which had an LCD issue once and then came back again after 3 months, and I bought the OLED in the same edition that you have, despite not being a fan of Splatoon myself. It was worth it!

  • @JiisuriG3
    @JiisuriG3 Год назад +2

    Got me that Splatoon Edition on launch last year. I'm not a big Splatoon fan but it just looks amazing. I upgraded from a launch model Switch, bought just before the red box model which annoyed me greatly back then. It was well worth it. Especially since I managed to sell off my old Switch for a really good price and thus effectively only paid 90€ for the upgrade.

  • @SirWallReuploads

    oh hey I actually upgraded my OG 2017 Switch to the splatoon 3 oled model as well a while ago.
    maybe not the most sensible way to spend my money, but I still enjoy the better and bigger screen, better battery life, etc.

    I ended up getting getting the OLED switch at its launch, and after using it for a while any doubts about having upgraded from my original launch year Switch were nicely washed away with the benefits the screen provide.
    I did have a few issues transferring my saves over though, as apparently quite a few of my games (Steins;Gate Elite, Uniclr, and a few others) did not have the latest save uploaded. Thankfully, I hadn't planned on getting rid of my old switch which allowed me to remedy that.

  • @Katsudon96
    @Katsudon96 Год назад

    yeah the transfer is annoying. doing a straight transfer and keeping the old one makes it easier a little, but the main issue was Animal Crossing. you needed to install the game on both, install the save app tool, then use the app to transfer the save game.
    Only issue with a transfer is the old switch must be connected to the Internet at all times to work normally (i am using my MHR switch as the Docked one on my TV, but i haven't played it on the TV in ages, i just play my Splatoon OLED on my Monitor). You have to manually upload/download Save Data whenever you want to play on a different Switch. Games with no Cloud can not be played on 2 switches sadly.
    it took me 1 hour sitting in my Local Ebgames to transfer everything from my OG switch to the Monster Hunter switch because i was trading it in back then (thanks to the staff that let me do it). for the Splatoon OLED though, i just kept my old one because i wasn't getting rid of that beautiful MHR switch.

    I was already convinced to get myself an OLED switch ever since there were games exclusive to the platform that I was interested in playing (and I’m a PlayStation guy). Just gotta get myself a decent job to get the console.😅/😭

    I was kind of in the same situation.
    I have a Switch V1 that I mostly played in TV mode.
    When I got the game Shin Megami Tensei V, at the time, I could only play my Switch in handheld mode and I found the up to 2 hours 30 minutes battery life too short.
    I upgraded to the Switch OLED and since then mostly played in handheld mode.
    Its battery life lasts up to 5 hours playing Shin Megami Tensei V.
    But I still have my Switch V1 and play it occasionally.

    i’ll skip the Oled and keep that money for the next switch successor, like yes you do get great colors on the oled but you can only do so in Handheld mode which has games running (for the most part) at a handicap be it lower frames or graphic fidelity… for me it’s a lose:lose kinda situation in both Docked & Handheld, if they made an Oled Lite it would make more sense imo

    Got my OLED thanks to working at a games store during the shortage of stock caused by the pandemic ( I couldn't reserve one cause i was a part time employee though), and it was a masisve upgrade compared to the OG Switch. There is a much higher quality with the screen, speakers and a robust kickstand, plus its got a built in ethernet port in the dock that was much needed if you play online. Its no "Pro" console, but its good for those who dont have one or want to upgrade from a launch Switch.

    Personally I think the Switch should just phase out by now into a stronger better system, the hardware is ridiculusly weak to the point where my Chinese built phone has better hardware than a Switch and can run demanding mobile games like Genshin at 60fps.
