I purchased one before Christmas and wasn't sure if I should as I play primarily docked. That being said, the oled makes a huge difference and I now play about equally between docked n hand held. Battery life is also better.
Upgraded mine from the original 2017 V1 to the OLED a couple of weeks back (despite saying I wouldn’t) IMO it’s been worth it. Screen it’s beautiful. Battery life is better too and those two things alone were worth it. I now find myself playing it in hand-held mode a lot more (in bed for instance) as I always played docked before.

No one mentions that the oled switch has a “vibrant” color filter automatically turned on and it makes everything look over saturated. The same color filter could technically be applied to the og switch so it’s a little misleading.
You can turn off that if you don’t like it super vibrant. The OG switch doesn’t give you that option. Or are you saying they could add that type of filter with a firmware update??
@@symboltherapper well yeah that option could work on the og switch if Nintendo added it. But when people see the new one and think it’s the oled panel itself, it’s a little misleading because it isn’t. A lot of the reviews are unknowingly praising a cheap color filter

I just picked up the Switch OLED never had a Switch, screen is gorgeous. Love the portable factor of it. Great video, more Switch content would be a great idea!!
Biggest thing me and my partner noticed: OLED is better for larger hands due to the screen size. She can't comfortably hold my OLED and I can't comfortably hold her OG Switch. Works well for us!
I personally went for the regular V2 switch cause I knew I wanted the ACNH version that came with the game. The joy-cons are my favourite out of all and I love the back details and I don't really mind the screen size since I haven't really used the OLED one before and don't plan too Plus add on a sale that was going on for bonus games if ya bought that version and I guess it was a no brainer for me lol
I’ve been happy with my Switch OLED, and at least in my situation personally, I was able to better justify getting this one as I was able to sell my older switch to someone close to me so that they can start experiencing switch and also play online with me :)
I'll stick with my original switch as I play docked most of the time on my LG C1 :) If I played more on the go would definitely snag this OLED model though.

Got my Lite on a crazy good used deal for €100 and that's about as much as i'd spend on a Switch. For the €349 asking price i'd no doubt prefer to just get a Steam Deck for €50 more. Emulation of countless platforms Switch included + Steam library + Epic library + Xbox Game Pass... What's not to like?
@@ghostlegit I mean the Switch uses eMMc memory aswell. This was more of a comparison between the two if anything. Save money when buying the switch. Or don't buy one at all and emulate it with the deck. 64gb + SD card slot should suffice.
@@ghostlegit Probably will struggle at first but i seriously doubt the Yuzu devs won't make a custom tailored version for the deck when this is probably the best emulation device someone could have in 2022. At 720p resolution it'll be possible eventually.
One of the best things about the switch apart from the switch itself is that they include the additional things right out of the box. e.g. the dock. Other companies would probably charge quite a bit for some of these things
@@icedoutgames4051 This doesn't really go along with the idea of a switch Because cables aren't very user friendly Remember that Nintendo, is not like other gaming company, they don't target gamers only, they target everyone including families and kids and non gamers So the dock for a device that's built to be switched easily and comfortably is necessary tbh, and a good choice.
@@johannesziaether3916 yh ik they r not that kind of company and that's what I'm trying to point out if I wasn't clear. Whatever the case is they r including it and it's nice.
I love how your content quality remains consistent. You have a top tier set-up. I have recently got my hands on a series x which I can't be happier with. But also would love a switch OLED, but i don't think it's worth upgrading unless you don't own a switch. I will wait for the ps5 slim as I'm sure it will come soon. One day I might re-engage myself with a tech/EDC youtube despite the saturated market. Keep up the great work.
I never owned a Switch so picked up the OLED at the beginning of this year, and have had a blast with it. Never docked it, just used for handheld, in fact my dock didn't even come out of the plastic wrap it came in. If you're all for the portable then the OLED is the boy.
As we are at the cusp of 2022’s end, is the OLED worth a purchase? Or is it best to wait longer until a newer version enters the market? (Switch owner since late 2017)
I had my v2 for more than 2 years now. Never really planned to get the OLED since there's really no drastic difference between the two but when Nintendo released a Pokemon version, I instantly bought one lol.
Upgraded from the v2 to the OLED and I love it. I play mostly handheld so the bigger screen and display was worth it to me. I’d recommend monster hunter rise as one of your switch recommendation asks
It's weird how you didn't use an identical image or identical game on pause - for side by side comparison with the older model. It would have made it so much more clear to see exactly what is the difference between the black level and so on.
Imo it’s a little disappointing that they didn’t upgrade the cpu, gpu, ram, or something to improve the processing, resolution, or battery. It’s still a great console and it’s only a little more than a normal switch. I am though happy with the 64gb and the stand on the back.
A lot of people try the Switch & dislike it, so they sell them on craigslist, eBay etc. cheap sometimes with accessories. It is cheaper than buying one new in store & sometime come with games

@@symboltherapper well yeah that option could work on the og switch if Nintendo added it. But when people see the new one and think it’s the oled panel itself, it’s a little misleading because it isn’t. A lot of the reviews are unknowingly praising a cheap color filter
@@Hamood113 for real?
I wanted to purchase my first ever console but I didn't know what to choose what they offer etc. And your page especially this video made me realize what I wanted the switch and why I wanted it... 🇯🇲 Thank you looking forward to more content
this is one of the best oled reviews out there!! keep the switch content coming!
Thank you 🙏
If you are upgrading from the Nintendo switch Lite then I'd definitely recommend it
Just watch a few of your videos and really enjoy your content. Thanks for taking the time to do such detailed reviews. Love the filming too.
Thank you for your comment 🙏
I just picked up the Switch OLED never had a Switch, screen is gorgeous. Love the portable factor of it. Great video, more Switch content would be a great idea!!
Thank you! Great buy too.
Best review I've watched so far. Definitely going for the OLED switch 😊
I just purchased one and played Pokemon Scarlet and Violet on it. I enjoyed it.
All I want to do is play Mario Kart now ..
The joy-cons are my favourite out of all and I love the back details and I don't really mind the screen size since I haven't really used the OLED one before and don't plan too
Plus add on a sale that was going on for bonus games if ya bought that version and I guess it was a no brainer for me lol
Yeah I got an oled the other day and its insane how much better it looks than the 2017 model
I’ve been happy with my Switch OLED, and at least in my situation personally, I was able to better justify getting this one as I was able to sell my older switch to someone close to me so that they can start experiencing switch and also play online with me :)
Great idea too!
@@SpawnPoiint thanks!
These reviews are better than most other review videos. I hope your channel grows more ✊✊💯
Thank you 🙏
I'll stick with my original switch as I play docked most of the time on my LG C1 :) If I played more on the go would definitely snag this OLED model though.
A C1 is so overkill for a switch lol wtf.
@@HungAF I mainly play the Series X on it so not overkill at all.
@@Wafflenobs switch is better then Xbox shut up
switch sports going to look amazing on the oled screen! the green colours pop
I have not bought the switch since it first came out in 2017 but I’m considering
finally getting the OLED switch after watching your RUclips video, which was very informative and helpful.Thank you so much as I gained a lot of knowledge from this video 👍🏼
Thank you 🙏
Did you upgrade? I have the original as well and thingking buying the oled
Best Switch Oled video ever! many Thanks from Brazil !!!
I really wanted you to review the switch in your professional style! Great video!
Thank you Lee!
Dope Review…. I’m Ready For One Now 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Got my Lite on a crazy good used deal for €100 and that's about as much as i'd spend on a Switch. For the €349 asking price i'd no doubt prefer to just get a Steam Deck for €50 more. Emulation of countless platforms Switch included + Steam library + Epic library + Xbox Game Pass... What's not to like?
399 sounds good but ur gonna spend more than that replacing the Emmc memory. Personally u should have got the 256 gb or 512.
@@ghostlegit I mean the Switch uses eMMc memory aswell. This was more of a comparison between the two if anything. Save money when buying the switch. Or don't buy one at all and emulate it with the deck. 64gb + SD card slot should suffice.
@@dorayaki5494 ur not gonna be able to emulate the switch on the steam deck. As powerful as it is. The cpu can't handle yuzu
@@ghostlegit Probably will struggle at first but i seriously doubt the Yuzu devs won't make a custom tailored version for the deck when this is probably the best emulation device someone could have in 2022. At 720p resolution it'll be possible eventually.
I just got the Nintendo Switch Oled today and its so good, I loved it
One of the best things about the switch apart from the switch itself is that they include the additional things right out of the box. e.g. the dock. Other companies would probably charge quite a bit for some of these things
Actually that would be a typical Nintendo move
Well it's a "switch" so the dock is an essential part of it
@@johannesziaether3916 well they didn't have to include it. They could of just given a cable but they didn't and gave a whole dock
@@icedoutgames4051
This doesn't really go along with the idea of a switch
Because cables aren't very user friendly
Remember that Nintendo, is not like other gaming company, they don't target gamers only, they target everyone including families and kids and non gamers
So the dock for a device that's built to be switched easily and comfortably is necessary tbh, and a good choice.
This guy never disappoints. He carries tech youtube, keep it up SP👏
I think I am getting this Switch for Christmas, I'm super excited to play on it. The OLED model with the white joycons looks so sleek and beautiful.
We need to see a New Sofa review!
haha, it's a year old now. Maybe I'll show it in the next room tour...
The Switch OLED model looks amazing 👏👏👏
Always love this guys gaming tech reviews 👌
Thank you!
OLED Switch! I’ve been trying to decide whether to get a switch since it came out 4-5 years ago, I’ll probably decide once the Switch 4K comes out 😂
If you’re still unsure if you want one for yourself, just buy one for me and I’ll let u know.
“OLED Switch”, was very hesitant about getting one, but I think it’ll be perfect for mobile gaming.
Here in the states OLED switch is near impossible to get still.
This dude still using his phone to make these videos. That is amazing man. Quality is impeccable.
Thank you!
Hey! Don’t forget that Jesus Christ loves you and he died for you have a blessed day❤
I'm going to get a switch oled for Christmas this year and I'm looking forward to it.
Great video, thanks!
Is it worth buying a Switch OLED in the 4th quarter of 2024?
I would go for the OLED Switch. Actually just bought one mere hours before I saw this video. Good one mate.
I bought OLED model some days after release, and also my first switch
It's weird how you didn't use an identical image or identical game on pause - for side by side comparison with the older model. It would have made it so much more clear to see exactly what is the difference between the black level and so on.
Imo it’s a little disappointing that they didn’t upgrade the cpu, gpu, ram, or something to improve the processing, resolution, or battery. It’s still a great console and it’s only a little more than a normal switch. I am though happy with the 64gb and the stand on the back.
Went in to get a switch and I'm happy I got the OLED it's amazing
I recently bought a Nintendo Switch - OLED Model and not gonna lie it’s pretty good and worth it buying!
I got one a few weeks ago. My daughter is about a year old. Looking forward to some Mario Cart time in SNES, N64, and 8!
A lot of people try the Switch & dislike it, so they sell them on craigslist, eBay etc. cheap sometimes with accessories. It is cheaper than buying one new in store & sometime come with games
About to buy the OLED Switch
3:09 what do you use to smooth out the screen protector?
Just got one! Definitely happy with it!
Worth it?
If you already have had a switch since 2017 or 18 this is a must buy. The quality is much higher. And it feels metallic.
Everything in this video is perfect, love it ❤️
The original switch had a terrible stand so im quite happy they fixed that issue
Yes same!
the oled switch looks amazing and can't wait to get one, i haven't played Nintendo games since the gamecube.
U should do more switch videos more often these are underated
