First off, thank you for the tutorials, these are a joy to watch.
I have a sort of a silly question but what the heck, sorry if previously asked. I see you use vodka for 'paint', and I've heard people brushing off excess dust (cornstarch/powdered sugar) from fondant with a little vodka. That's like....a negligible amount of alcohol and ok for cakes for kids, correct? Just being a nervous mother and need reassurance. Thanks!
Hi hun, you're not being silly! It is only a very little amount and it mostly evaporates off the cake anyway. If you are worried though, I would recommend using either lemon juice, lemon extract, rose water or vinegar (the lemon juice and water were recommendations given to me by women who for religious purposes, couldn't use alcohol). It works a charm for them they said :)
