Both sides are gorgeous!! This is something I have really wanted to try for the past year, but when I first tried, it did not go well! I was doing a Delft Blue Dutch floral design and I certainly did not have the right brushes for it!! Our cakes and craft store was extremely limited on so many items over this whole pandemic! Made it difficult to create cakes for clients, but my success is in challenges! Each cake is super individually made, and not one cake is ever the same. I love that!! Thanks for sharing this video! I look forward to seeing more of your work!
Oh thanks! Yes, the brushes make a big difference. I hope you’re able to get your hands on some good ones. I love that you take such pride in your work! Thank you so much for watching my video, I really appreciate it!💛
Scrolling along looking for tutorials, and I find out girl from passion to Profit! I had no idea you had a channel! So fun. I'm watching all of your stuff now.
Well thanks so much!!! I once had a guy tell me my voice was like nails on a chalkboard but that he kinda liked it!!😂😂😂 how can that even be? Thank you so much for watching and for this very sweet comment!
@@kyongscakesncrafts I’m just seeing your reply (yep I’m watching your video for a second time). I can’t believe some idiot ever said that about your beautiful voice! He’s obviously nuts 🤨 Thanks again for the tutorial!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful work and amazing painting tips with us. Idk if it's my phone or what, but the background music is much louder than your voice. It was really difficult to hear. Besides that, great video. Thank you!
Thank you for watching! Hmmmm that’s interesting because it doesn’t sound that way in my phone, computer or tv. I have my voice up to 100% volume and the music only at 3% volume. This is the first time anyone has ever mentioned that. I hope it’s not like that for a bunch of other people too. 😬💛
I’m not sure how much the color would bleed. You’ll just have to experiment. If you’re worried about that, try the cocoa butter and petal dust technique I use in the other painting video. It does any bleed at all. I use a mock Swiss meringue recipe. Google eggless Swiss meringue or mock Swiss meringue.
I've been following you on tiktok, and you inspire me ! I love working with fondant, not so much buttercream, but with this video I will have more confidence. Thank you for sharing your skills. Question, I barely can draw stick figures, I'm good at tracing. Painting however is a whole new level, any suggestions on how I may work on those skills?
I love this! Thank you. I have other painting on buttercream videos that might be a little easier to follow if your a beginner. One is painting on bc using cocoa butter and stamps. But besides that, to improve your drawing and painting skills, it just takes a lot of practice. There are a lot of online tutorials and even drawing books. You could try just getting a sketchbook and practice drawing objects around your house. Painting will take a lot of experimenting but it’s important to bot take it too seriously and allow yourself to have fun and make mistakes. You really just have to get in there and do it to get better.
I had tried painting the cake the same way and it came out well. Once I was done with painting and popped the cake back into the refrigerator. When it was time to cut the cake, I had kept the cake outside @ room temperature ( because we like to eat the cake a bit soft) my cake started sweating and it mixed with the gel colors and just dripped onto the side making the design look terrible & there was a sugary -water paste at ends of the cake. Do you have any suggestions yo avoid this?
Aw so sorry to hear. The change in temp and humidity depends a lot on the climate and other factors. This method works best if you’re not dealing with a lot of temperature changes. My suggestion is trying the petal dust and cocoa butter technique I show in another video because if you have to chill your cake after painting, it won’t bleed when it comes back to room temp.
Thank you! I like Americolor best so far, but for this video I’m just using some very inexpensive ones I bought from U.S. Cake Supply on Amazon. It worked fine.
Hey your work is beautiful 😻😻 wen I tried on a cold cake, it started bleeding! Any idea to control it, if I put t n the fridge back , it still bleeds, help please🙏🏻
It might depend on your buttercream or brand of paint. Mine bleed a little after several hours but not to a point that bothered me. For absolutely no bleeding, I prefer the cocoa butter and petal dust technique I use in other tutorials.
@@kyongscakesncrafts yes I have but not a lot, I usually use straight gel food color, the only thing I feel like I have to work a bit fast since when the buttercream gets to room temp it gets soft, and I end up scraping the buttercream a bit
Hi! I want to use swiss meringue buttercream and ColourMill in gel. To paint should I mix Colour Mill with water and that s it? Or I must mix swiss merengue buttercream (a little bit) with the Colour Mill? Thank yooou
You know, I’m not that familiar in working with colourmill but I usually mix my get colors with vodka. Though my fave way to paint on buttercream is with melted cocoa butter mixed with petal dust because it doesn’t bleed into the buttercream
I experimented both ways, leaving it out and refrigerating. It was fine both ways. No condensation when I took it out of the fridge and left it on the counter as it returned to room temp. I even tried boxing it and putting it in the fridge in comparison to leaving it unboxed in the fridge. But no difference. This is on American buttercream. I’m not sure if other buttercream would react the same. I plan on experimenting with Swiss this week. Also, I would advise you to try it out where you live because the climate may be different so the results might differ as well. Thanks for watching!!
@@kyongscakesncrafts Thank you for the response! I painted an entire 10" American Buttercream cake to a wood grain look. It's beautiful so I'm afraid to take it out of the fridge. Lol Gonna have to just do it and pray! I'll update you as to what happens. I'm in south Mississippi and it's pretty warm today.
You can print out an image and then cut out the basic outline shape and trace that on to your cake like in my video I just posted of the Sanrio painted cake. Or try the stamp technique like I posted in the rose painting video.
It’s Swiss meringue buttercream. It doesn’t have to be frozen just firm. But keep in mind, the color might bless a bit. For no bleeding use the cocoa butter and edible petal dust technique from my other video
Your cake should be very cold but doesn’t have to be frozen. If you’re outraged are really soft, they don’t take off the buttercream but there is a slight texture. I would experiment with water on some leftover buttercream if I were you because I think the color might bleed a little too much. Even with vodka the color bleeds a bit after it has sat for a while. For no bleeding try the petal dust and cocoa butter technique in my other painting video.

Yes it does scrape the buttercream, that’s true. But I don’t mind that so much because it can be a nice texture.
@@kyongscakesncrafts Yes for sure, I think I need better brushes, I think mines where still too stiff, where do you buy your brushes?
Oh yes that will make a big difference. Get watercolor brushes from Michael’s. They are very soft.

You seem to paint directly on the cake. I am not an artist like you any help regarding this. Like how to get a proportionate drawing.
