It's funny that Joe Manganiello will be portraying as Crocodile because as Flash, he got beaten by an upstart named Peter Parker and now as Crocodile, he will get beaten by another upstart named Monkey D. Luffy.
Maybe if they make choppers “big human” form a live action actor then they can save money by having him hang out in that form for the majority of the show
9:03 I personally disagree. My feeling was despite the grand adventure that is the one peice world, all these indoor sets remind me that this world is lived in, like a farmer in the east blue won't care about what's happening on drum island, because they have their own little world. These indoor sets remind you that despite the scale, the world of one piece is still detailed down to each room.
Here's the thing about Chopper; he has multiple forms, so he doesn't necessarily always have to be CG. Although having him transform might be a bit more jarring in live action, he still has to look like a monster for his flashback to make sense, so I think it's fairly likely that they have one or more actors/puppets to play different Chopper forms. This would allow him to be present in various scenes without breaking the bank on CG.
call me crazy but I never watched anime openings and endings, I always skipped, exactly because it spoils the whole thing. it was a harsh lesson, but I learned to wait and watched years later, though listened to the songs 😂
One moment I oddly hope they nail is Nami slapping the shit out of Zoro and Luffy when they “fight” on Whiskey Peak. Like put a good 30 seconds of the fight build up in the trailer the way shows always do, and let LA fans wonder omg what happened while long time fans just giggle.
Started watching when the live action came out. Got into the anime. Took me 6 months or so to catch up to the dub. Then I caught up with the sub. Now I google whether the latest Manga chapter is out every 2 days 😂
That’s actually pretty good. Plus, a human sized being would be more useful for the day to day chores that being on a ship at sea would require, much better than the hybrid form. I think we sometimes forget that Chopper actually does have a human form.
3:08 strong agree. One thing I wonder is if maybe there will be a good bit of shots from behind Chopper like what they teased, and save the face and best stuff for most important parts. It will be noticeable but I could be fine w it. Plus maybe they can go back and add some bits down the road once they have some momentum. Chopper's face so expressive and dynamic in the anime, I'm interested to see the moments when they swing for the fences.
Not knowing anything about one piece was one of my favorite things when I first started watching the show, I didn’t know who would be on the crew, how the devil fruits worked, what the poneglyphs were etc. It made watching and eventually reading the story so so much better. I miss those days
Major scenes involving Chopper and close-ups would probably be CGI and when he’s in the background he could be an animatronic or a kid in a costume sorta like a real life double
I was super weirded out when Robin joined the crew when I read it back then. She really felt so much different from the rest of the crew and until Enies Lobby I of course had doubts about her, which afterwards made me then like her much much more.
Before reading one piece, I thought Boa hancock and Robin were the same person. Their designs are very similar. I honestly was pretty shocked when Robin joined the crew. It felt weird and I didn't like her power. But she grew on me and is one of my favorite strawhats!
Idk how I managed to think the same thing, like, I knew nothing about the characters much but somehow I thought the chick from around episode 400 would join the crew even tho I hadn’t reached that part, nor the part where Robin joins? It was around a decade+ since I started One Piece, I can’t quite remember what I was & wasn’t aware of. I knew what the crew looked like, I guess… Mostly. Only Robin was confusing me.
I think CG is probably the best move for Chopper long-term. As we get later into the series and Chopper starts making his rumble balls, it’ll probably be the easiest way to keep up with his different styles
As someone who used to skip openings, I did see Robin join the crew unspoiled and it left me flabbergasted. Also seeing this live action being made (vfx wise) in a similar manner to the old good Pirates of Caribbean made me smile. Let the actors have fun acting!
from what has been leaked about One Piece live action is that thanks to the writers strike and Netflix's lust for that One Piece buck. Five more seasons are most likely in the works. I know, even those won't reach Post-Timeskip. but that means we will be getting Season 2 (Lougetown-Drum Island) Season 2 (alabasta and MAYBE Jaya) Season 3 (Skypiea and Long Ring Long Land) Season 4 (Water 7-Enis Lobby) Season 5 (Thriller Bark) are my predictions. a lot of people think cramming Water 7 and Enis Lobby together into one arc is gonna be too much but people forget that One Pace was originally created cus those arcs where dragged out SO LONG. You can easily condense Water 7 into 3-4 hour long episodes and Enis Lobby to 4-5 episodes.
This is being made faster than I ever expected. Which is a good thing, actors age quickly and there is a lot to get through before the current ones don’t look the part anymore.
I know some live action only fans. They don't watch anime because "cartoons" or read manga. She only watches the live action with her daughter who became a fan after the live action show.
It's hilarious to me how there are people who are so politically broken they're going on to call boycott for Netflix _just because the actress playing Robin is Russian AS ODA HAS INDICATED SHE SHOULD BE_...
• Usopp reflecting on his past, flashbacks included to flesh out what was skipped in Season 1, during his time on Little Garden could aid in his desire to go to Elbaf. • Nami, now free from Arlong, realizes how her expected cons and limited skills will fare in the Grand Line vs Baroque Works when she's made to feel insecure with her fighting skills and sideling the group with illness up to when Usopp makes her Climatact before reaching Alabasta.
If Netflix can green light Last Airbender with the heavy use of CGI, it’s perfectly reasonable they offered enough to get Tony Tony in most scenes of Drum Island. You’re absolutely right that after that he’s basically a teddy bear in Robin’s bag 😞
I really dont want to see anymore of Koby and Hellmepo's filler arc, since we are getting only 8 episodes again. And just like last season I don't want them to take away from the main canon story. Rip Usopp.
I have so much sympathy for the showrunners for OP live-action. OP is one of the hardest IPs to try and convert into a good live-action show. I'm not sure how successful it will be by the end of the show, but as long as they keep respecting the source (like they have tried to do so far) and the fans, I'm down to keep watching it.
They also listed Vivi as Miss Wednesday in the cast so far, unless I missed something. Which I find especially funny since it's almost a two layer secret they get to keep even after she joins up with the crew, given the more recent revelations about her family. Another fun thing is that we now technically have to specify which critical event some was present for when saying 'they were present at Loguetown'.
In Germany we had a big manga scene before anime in general got very popular. So Robin joining the crew was absolutely a suprise when it happened to me. I have been reading One Piece since January 2001 but I have yet to see a single episode.
Chopper could spend more time in human form in the live action; that would help a lot. They may also go with a puppet for wider shots of the crew. Just because we saw CG there doesn't mean they won't employ multiple techniques to keep budget in check. As for how far they will make it in the story, that really depends on their "will" to keep going, because the ratings will most certainly be there as long as they put their best forward.
@@chinhoewong Either would help with the budget. But, there is an argument to be made for the fact that a humanoid form would be more useful for life on a ship at sea, so that would be easy to excuse.
0:55 I think I knew of robin (like from pictures), but didnt piece together that miss all sunday was robin until I got blindsided with her declaration that she would be joining the crew.
0:51 Kind of funny story. I always skipped the opening, but I saw the DBZ X One Piece X T-something crossover on YT, so I remembered some of the characters. When she join the crew, I was convinced she either died or was a traitor because I didn’t remember seeing her, so when she didn’t end up dying in water 7 and joined them again I was kind of shocked . Turns out, I didn’t remember seeing her because it was Robin’s post timeskip look that I saw lol.
I never pay attention to the opening part so when Rodin joined the crew I was completely shocked. I was on board tho cuz I loved how luffy was just so nonchalant about an enemy just joining there crew 😂
As someone who skipped intros to get through the story faster, i was legit surprised, and a little angry at the speed at which Robin was accepted into the crew, but after Enies Lobby, i cant imagine having the crew without her.
When I was watching the anime I actively googled what episodes had new people join the crew (and with my very specific ability to ignore the words and just look for the numbers, I just knew when and not who), didn’t really ruin the fun for me. Robin though threw me totally for a loop I was 100% expecting Vivi
absolutely love your take on the Live action adaption. With your background in theatre stuff you are really giving us insight we won't get anywhere else (at least not in the OP-sphere :D) thank you!
I'll play into the engagement and yeah while I was reading that portion of the manga, the anime had not caught up yet so I got to enjoy the twist of Robin joining the crew, it was great.
At first I thought Chopper could be mostly puppet kind of like Grogu (baby yoda) but Chopper isn’t a baby who sits still mostly so I guess it probably wouldn’t work as easily.

It's funny that Joe Manganiello will be portraying as Crocodile because as Flash, he got beaten by an upstart named Peter Parker and now as Crocodile, he will get beaten by another upstart named Monkey D. Luffy.
He might've been beaten, but he found his loyal friend on the way (Daz), and rose up to the top with Luffy's help.
Maybe if they make choppers “big human” form a live action actor then they can save money by having him hang out in that form for the majority of the show
The Lighthouse looks pretty logical to me. I figure its less a home and more storage since there's a perfectly good whale to live in.
Not to mention Crocus is a crotchety old man. The environment suits his demeanor pretty well.
My friends are live action onlys. I love how live action allowed me to introduce one piece to my friends
I think it’s all a matter of perspective and personal preference. Both sides of this discussion have their merits.
Chopper looks so good they are gonna kill it with this season
call me crazy but I never watched anime openings and endings, I always skipped, exactly because it spoils the whole thing. it was a harsh lesson, but I learned to wait and watched years later, though listened to the songs 😂
I got my mum to watch the live action somehow and she’s been waiting FOREVER for s2
My wife hates HATES One Piece, but has watched the live action dozens of times. She loves it
One moment I oddly hope they nail is Nami slapping the shit out of Zoro and Luffy when they “fight” on Whiskey Peak. Like put a good 30 seconds of the fight build up in the trailer the way shows always do, and let LA fans wonder omg what happened while long time fans just giggle.
Also when Lily slaps up Ussop was pretty funny as well
Started watching when the live action came out. Got into the anime. Took me 6 months or so to catch up to the dub. Then I caught up with the sub. Now I google whether the latest Manga chapter is out every 2 days 😂
0:55) Actually, I was surprised, but that was because I first saw it in the 4Kids dub
I have my condolences for you then brother ………😂😂😂
Chopper can be cgi for only the start but he can change to a human for the rest
NAWH A FULL GROWN BIG BURLY MAN WITH A CHILD VOICE 💀
Dont forget the reindeer animal form👍
I think it will still be costume with cgi editing seems more cost efficent
yeah I think he will probably default to heavy point for budget reasons
That’s actually pretty good. Plus, a human sized being would be more useful for the day to day chores that being on a ship at sea would require, much better than the hybrid form. I think we sometimes forget that Chopper actually does have a human form.
this series is going to be really good just by the way they show crocodile with the lily and the rings is just shows they are dedicated
I started watching anime and just watched episode by episode, always skipped the intro, and when Miss All Sunday joined, I was like WHAAAAAAAAAAATTTT
The only thing missing is of course THE GOAT Bon Chan!!
11:35 but....I thought worshipping kizaru was normal?
If Chopper gets scenes cut from his own arc like they did Usopp, I will riot.
Not knowing anything about one piece was one of my favorite things when I first started watching the show, I didn’t know who would be on the crew, how the devil fruits worked, what the poneglyphs were etc. It made watching and eventually reading the story so so much better. I miss those days
Missing cast:
Ace
Blackbeard & crew
Silhouette incoming..
Major scenes involving Chopper and close-ups would probably be CGI and when he’s in the background he could be an animatronic or a kid in a costume sorta like a real life double
All I care about is who plays bon clay the goat
I was super weirded out when Robin joined the crew when I read it back then. She really felt so much different from the rest of the crew and until Enies Lobby I of course had doubts about her, which afterwards made me then like her much much more.
I wonder if we'll see Sabo in Logue Town at Luffy's execution
7:41 that sand castle crocodile art looks so funny 😂
5:55 it's probably to introduce the Barton club rele early on so they have a way to jump time and Barton can give us a summary of it
As someone who used to skip openings, I did see Robin join the crew unspoiled and it left me flabbergasted.
Also seeing this live action being made (vfx wise) in a similar manner to the old good Pirates of Caribbean made me smile. Let the actors have fun acting!
If only the reindeer...had an in universe reason to turn into a human character....
Contributing to the breaking of the live-action adaption curse, and they can’t stop winning
from what has been leaked about One Piece live action is that thanks to the writers strike and Netflix's lust for that One Piece buck.
2:53 remember Arlong from part one?! He should have been animated too 😢
He looked worse that the fishmen luffy painted 😬
My wife is a live only fan, she can't stand anime but loves the live action. So Live action only fans do exist.
All I can say is I don't blame Sanji for simping over Nami and Robin now..
First Live Action I've Ever Enjoyed
I rather see more Reindeer animal form Chopper then Human form lol
@@chinhoewong Either would help with the budget. But, there is an argument to be made for the fact that a humanoid form would be more useful for life on a ship at sea, so that would be easy to excuse.
0:55 I think I knew of robin (like from pictures), but didnt piece together that miss all sunday was robin until I got blindsided with her declaration that she would be joining the crew.
I was luckily surprised by robin joining from the anime I always skipped intros
0:51 Kind of funny story. I always skipped the opening, but I saw the DBZ X One Piece X T-something crossover on YT, so I remembered some of the characters. When she join the crew, I was convinced she either died or was a traitor because I didn’t remember seeing her, so when she didn’t end up dying in water 7 and joined them again I was kind of shocked .
Turns out, I didn’t remember seeing her because it was Robin’s post timeskip look that I saw lol.
If Brook shows up in OPLA even slightly that’ll make Franky the only pre TS straw hat not to appear and that’s just a little sad
Franky would be the only Strawhat not mentioned.
I never pay attention to the opening part so when Rodin joined the crew I was completely shocked. I was on board tho cuz I loved how luffy was just so nonchalant about an enemy just joining there crew 😂
Been following you for ages, keep it up!
Disgusting bot
As someone who skipped intros to get through the story faster, i was legit surprised, and a little angry at the speed at which Robin was accepted into the crew, but after Enies Lobby, i cant imagine having the crew without her.
2:59 I am pretty curious if they’re gonna go with his face from pre or post time skip, or possibly do a mix of the 2
I personally prefer pre time skip chopper
@@mercedezism yeah me too. He just looked so funny, but honestly I doubt they will
When I was watching the anime I actively googled what episodes had new people join the crew (and with my very specific ability to ignore the words and just look for the numbers, I just knew when and not who), didn’t really ruin the fun for me. Robin though threw me totally for a loop I was 100% expecting Vivi
they couldn't find a better crocodile and robin
12:28 ah! Hand Island is from "Episode of Luffy" i never even heard of this one Adventure on Hand island
Brina Palencia, the Funimation dub actor, should be casted to voice Chopper in One Piece Live Action Season 2.
absolutely love your take on the Live action adaption. With your background in theatre stuff you are really giving us insight we won't get anywhere else (at least not in the OP-sphere :D) thank you!
RAAAAHHHHH LETS GOOO CHOPPPERRRR
I'll play into the engagement and yeah while I was reading that portion of the manga, the anime had not caught up yet so I got to enjoy the twist of Robin joining the crew, it was great.
My sister is a “live action only” watcher
Chopper should be a muppet and I won't be convinced otherwise.
1:15 try the FNAF fanbase
At first I thought Chopper could be mostly puppet kind of like Grogu (baby yoda) but Chopper isn’t a baby who sits still mostly so I guess it probably wouldn’t work as easily.
10:36 YOOOHOHOHOHOHO! 🎶💀
8:15 I think that set looks dope!. It's looks like your at a beach even though your inside. it conveys lighthouse to me. it was my fav set they show
Damn, kinda wanted the kid from Cobra Kai to be Bartolemeo. He desperately wants a role even as an extra and could see him as the smart ass Luffy obsessed lunatic.
You mean Xolo Mariduena? I could see him as Ace
@reggiewatts1926 Jacob Bertrand. Didn't know his name just saw his love of the cast and series
@@reggiewatts1926 That's something I actually genuinely fear. OP live action shone so much light on non-celeb actors that I want it to continue, + live action gold rogers was too white for the actor and rouge's kid to not be white, unless they also change portgas D rouge's ethnicity
@@MidLifeChangeridk if the face shape is right or if he'd look too young for bartolomeo's character height and age, idk if his mouth is big enough for the teeth not to look offputting
Robin joining was a big surprise for me, and I only started this series a year and a half ago! 😅
I use the live action to segway all my friends into the full anime series now.. works everytime.
Wait , what? Who's Robin he's talking about? 😮
You also need to take into account this season and the seasons to come will more than likely have bigger budgets after the success of each previous season before it.
The live action CGI was worse with explosions than stretching IMO.
Stretching just looks uncanny by nature.
0:48 That’s why i always skip intros and listen to them another time
My wife only watches the live action
I actually used to skip the intros when I was watching through alabasta because I was so invested, so when Robin suddenly joined the crew I was caught super off-guard. Was a nice surprise but I did feel like she was hiding something, which she was haha
