Most of Mariah's fandom for some reason love critiquing her voice instead of treating her like a human. You would think they'd come from a more empathetic lens considering her nodules but they somehow fail to do that! It's great to see you analyse not just her voice but also some presumptions they make because they forget that she is just a human and living a life that can be stressful or stress-free given the day, age, time or moment just like any other human. This was a great video tho! Can't wait to see the video of you reacting to her other era's post 1996!
Lambs be thinking they got a degree in music and have been a vocal coach for 20 years like sit down 😭 like this is one of the reasons Mariah is scared to sing cuz people over analyze everything she does
tbh i prefer mariahs tone the most from the last few years, i love the slighlty matured 90's sound. she has way more power and she can do more with her voice
Your voice is so nice! So I agree I don’t think she sounded nasally in 95, however, I do think she started to sound more nasally in 99’ and allegedly she had a nose job somewhere around that time. Could that have anything to do with it or no?
I really wanted you yo comment on one of these videos made by her so called "fans" who talk all kinds of ignorant nonsense that just is so absurd 😅😅 Thank you, darling!🙏❤
When I was a die hard lamb, I refused to dive into other artists as hard as I did into Mariah. I lacked a diverse knowledge pool when it came to singing and so was deluded and became critical of Mariah. Now IDC lol
I love her early 90's tone. I adore the Tattoo club tone its so unique and soulful! I read somewhere that someone told Mariah that she need to make her sound lighter cause the constant comparison with Whitney is not good for her and she needs to find her sound preferably lighter cause it gonna be more apeal to younger audience. I think she really took notice of that, but i think she overdid it. I prefer her darker tone and i can stand till the tired tone of butterfly. When i was younger my favorite sound/tone was at daydream but now that i am older I totally prefer her very early 90's tone. it was reacher and more soulful also at butterfly it might be very tired but it was magical as well in its own way. I think even rainbow and maybe glitter was really nice but afterwards each year the tone became weaker/lighter and it was like she keep on losing resonance and tonical layers in a sense. It became almost without vibrato at all, most of the notes were shouty without or too little vibrato a bit screamy, studio alternated and pitched up. I think she still got some very very good moments but it was way beyond the early tone. and I don't believe that she couldn't be as good, but i think slackiness along with stylistic choises trying to sound more girly to be more likeable to younger audience to keep her relevancy as much as possible but i believe that she lost most of her credibility as great live singer cause those pitches could not do it live and keep on lip most high parts. at some point she almost lost completely the whistles around 2008 (maybe she had a surgery for nodles,i heard from an insider that she had 2 operations and 2 miscariges and also she has a chronic hormonical issue-that maybe is the reason her tone changes so much so many times) She avoided live whistles for many years and i think even now she doesn't feel comfortable with live whistles anymore.. maybe can't control them or the operation damaged something. a doctor once said to her that if she remove the nodgles she might lose the hight notes (whistles). nowdays even the lipped ones are not that good to hear..they are week very pircing not sweet and almost without vibrato. also not that high and without much gymnastic and tricks. I also think she mostly emulate the whistles (like xtina, arianna and many other singes) now rather than having her old normal whistle register by super high faltsetos/head voice "screams". It doesn;t matter though cause she gave in 10 years vocals that counts for 10 life's career on the absolute virtuoso maximum!
There's a lot of speculation here - they're void. 1. Mariah's voice is naturally not as dark as her debut or emotions era. She darkened her tone because of the influence of the music she listened to (gospel/jazz/opera/R&B singers). She tried to emulate her idols. Her natural voice is basically like the Musicbox era. No one told her to change it, it was likely easier to sing with her natural tone as time went on (we saw the ease with musicbox). It was also easier for her to sing with a mix voice, listening her tone. 2. Beyond the 90s decade Mariah actually maintained incredible resonance and her tones remained very full and pleasant. 2006 was the only year beyond 90s that her tone was good but not great. It's only in 2021/2022 that she has adapted a nasally tone which isn't great. And I must admit that she needs to work on that and maybe get a coach. 3. Mariah still whistles completely live incredibly well -- to this day. Only a few whistles are lipped because well, she's human they won't work all the time and it's smart to give her voice a break. Piercing 7th octave whistles are not ideal for Mariahs voice, especially today. We shouldn't expect that. Hence, her decision to stick to the 6th octave most of the time. That's literally the only part of her voice she has never had trouble with because the nodules allow for ease in that register.
The "dark" tone was reinforced because of her gospel and soul influence which Aretha incorporates in her music and Mariah's one of the biggest stans of Aretha.
