I just love your reaction and analysis. Please tell me, how do you recognise the notes of a riff or a run so fastly? You're talking about some notes, then comes a run and you simply play it on piano. Is it perfect pitch? Or is it an extremely accurate ear? Well, anyways, it's amazing. I love when people are able to explain with more details a melodic arrange. I'm a musician, but I'm not a singer. I don’t use those kind of classifications for contemporary singers. They’re strictly based on classical music standards, and a use of the voice that has nothing to do with the way contemporary singers sing. For example they don’t consider chest voice for women or head voice for men, not to mention mixed voice etc. With her range Mariah basically covers notes that go from a baritone to a coloratura soprano hahaha! But again, it makes no sense to classify her or any other contemporary singer using classical standards.
