Looooved your breakdown of this performance. I’ve always loved Mariah’s vocals, her dynamics, uses of vibratos here and there in her runs, etc, the background singers, but I’ve never paid as much attention to the band and I thank you for highlighting them! No wonder why this song and the performances of this song are so held dearly in my heart, I love it so much!❤
The things that she can do with her voice is insane! Her agility, range, and tone is unmatched! The greatest vocalist of all time and an incredible songwriter as well! 15:41 I also sing and I can never figure out that “sweet destiny” run either
Great reaction, Erika! Loved that you included the background singers and instrumentation in your analysis as well! Would love to hear your reaction to her 2005 rendition of this song on BET Blueprint and how it compares to earlier versions.
Love your Mariah reactions :) you should give “Endless Love” by Mariah and Luther Vandross a review! It’s so beautiful and 2 of the best vocalists ever!! Would love to see your breakdown!!
Really loved your breakdown on this! So much energy and knowledge in your reaction 😁I would be curious to hear you take a listen to Vision of Love from Tokyo Dome 1996. It's always fascinating hearing how she switches things up and how the changes in the color and tone of her voice in different years effects the performance.
LOL that was Patrick Swayze introducing Mariah, he was still in character from one of the skits hence the accent. I thought wearing a denim jacket like Mariah did in that performance was lowkey an homage, but it was just a cool coincidence. There was magic in the SNL studios that made her deliver some of her absolute best vocal performances, my favorite part of this one was that belting of "Yeah!" after the whistle with vibratto, never ceases to amaze me. I've seen that performance numerous times, but it's always enjoyable to watch people react to it especially with your enthusiasm because you do love her voice, and to think she was just a 20 year old, ready to become a legend 💖
So like, why are you trying to compete where you dont compare? Also, Mariah co wrote this song. Also who cares how you would have chosen to sing the song??? Lmaooooo, the delusion
The greatest vocalist of all time
The things she could do with her voice are just jaw-dropping. The agility, the versatility of tone, the range, the musicality. Unmatched.
Amen!
Whitney Houston, Beyonce & Patti Labelle as well.
Yeah no..one of the best pop music singers of the 20th century
Yall Mariah stans aren't gonna disrespect Aretha, Patti or Whitney OR opera singers
@@anaihilator And yet Mariah single handedly inspired generations of singers who followed and changed the way popular singers sing. Nice try, though.
