Nice of you to give your time and patience Mel. It confirms my wish to use the Jackery for my campervan electric system. All the tech talk on the traditional way of doing things, I can do without. Plug 'n play is the way I will do it. Take care mate.
Hi Mel. A way of preventing sudden loss of power to a diesel heater being powered by a Jackory power station is to connect the 12v output of the Jackory to a small 12v motorcycle battery and then connect the heater to the motorcycle battery. If the Jackory cuts out the motor cycle battery will keep the heater running until the voltage drops and then the diesel heater will then shut down properly. The added battery acts as a backup. A 5 ampere hour gel battery should be adequate. It will also help the Jackory handle any surges of power demand on other parts of the 12volt circuit. Be aware that the cigar plug will still have 12volts on it when unplugged from the Jackory unless the motorcycle battery is disconnected or switched off first.
When everyone was plugging the power oak I got the 500s.I have put a Cigarette plug on my 8 kw diesel heater and that’s how I run if my batteries are low I plug it in the power oak and I’ve had no problem . My diesel heater takes roughly 20% out of my power oak and that’s running 10 hours.only knocked the plug out once no damage was done to my heater luckily
Mel, if any lead acid or AGM battery run flat to 11.x, that’s more than flat. A.k.a. Dead. Do not run a lead acid or AGM battery past 12.1 that is 50% of usage and could harm the battery.
Brilliant vid Mel, my daughter wants a doblo converted into a small camper and I’m thinking of going down this route to simplify the electrics. I will just need 12v lights and a pump for the tap, cool box and no heater. Fit a shore line for on site and charging.👍🏻
I not long bought the Poweroak AC200P , it has an extra 12 volt 25amp output socket as well as the normal 10 amp cog socket , it is easily running my van , it has a 2000 watt inverter , so covers almost all my needs
2:53 yes 10amps but some are not regulated to 10 there rated 10 but some brands have tasted to run 11-12 which in this case could cause a fire. Hobotec is good for reviews on that sort of thing.
What bugs me about these solar "generators" (which don't generate anything) is they rate their capacity in watt hours which sounds bigger and more impressive. That Jackery 1000 is 1100 quid. It's just a box containg a measly 83 amp hour lithium battery plus an inverter and solar controller, for the same price you could buy 300 Ah of lithium batteries. You come across as a really nice and decent bloke, I'm normally a big fan of your videos but you're pimping yourself out for free stuff. Please don't. The Jackery is a battery pack, it has a market where portability is needed, fishermen, tent campers etc. In a campervan or motorhome environment you would get far better value for money by adding to your fixed installation.
I agree. If you're going to buy one anyway, then probably a good idea to use it in a camper if you don't already have electrics installed. But as you said Mel, you don't have 240V inverter anyway so you're paying for something you don't need. Also re. Amazon, I would never preach to anyone about how they should earn their money, but after reading Nomadland (I haven't seen the movie yet) I am definitely trying to ramp down my Amazon usage. It's really an eye-opening read.
Thanks Mel, I got a good deal from Jackery1000 when you reviewed them early I managed to get 20% off and I also brought a Jackery 240 and wouldn't be without them.
Lithium batteries do also have voltage drop, albeit a lot quicker at the end of their usable capacity than lead acid/agm. So I think the diesel heater should still detect the voltage drop and power down safely.
Hi Mel this was just the questions I was going to ask you. Great video for someone who is not electrically minded The bit I did I understand was The warm to touch when you have a bit of length lol 😂 On a serious side I always learn something from your videos thank you so much. 👍😎
Great as a back up or go bigger for more certainty I think. When you consider not only the cost but the ability/knowledge to do all the electrics these units dont really work out that much more. Watched a video recently and the guy, Hobotec, said using a 300w pure sine wave Bestek inverter (around £45) was a better option for charging whilst driving as it charged 2 x faster than the 12v adapter supplied, just a thought. Also watched another guy who used some sort of relay that actually increased the power of the standard cables supplied for faster charging.

Good video once again Mel. That’s answered any doubts I had. I’ve just purchased a minibus and will be starting the conversion soon. This seems to be a simple and easy way to do it. Even handy to have if there’s a power cut at home!! Is the jackery best? Thanks again
so what if you wanted it all on together Mel? no it can't run a campervan lol. better off with a cheap solar system and it will be way cheaper. Ok for camping though
Dear Sir , this was a nice learning movie. The end was not so clear. You shows solar panel at 100W with 4W output on the display. So there was no output, refrigirator wasn't on, etc. I If dual charge is allowed is still not proven to me. Perhaps next time. All the best with next holidays
I guess this test is a little pointless. I can run my van using a halfords jump starter with its inverter, But my panels with 2 leisure batteries run tv all day. The jackery is pointless unless your selling it to someone who dont have solar

Hi Mel, hoping you can answer a query for me with all that camper conversion knowledge you have in your brain. I’ve bought a CRX 50 fridge. It’s not wired in yet as only just purchased it. I’m hoping to go away in the van this weekend. My question is… if I were to wire a 😙12v adapter plug (that I’ve cut off another cable) could I just wire it on to the existing wires on the fridge and use it by plugging it into my Echo Flow power bank?
