After researching bait I have decided that when I get my van to convert I will use a portable power station - to me and what I need it is far easier and cheaper than wiring in a leisure battery etc for my meagre power needs.
Mel from "big van small world" used the same power station on his new buld of Becky's van and basically her van now uses the same power station as the power source for all her van. Well worth a look. I got the Afeiry lipo4 version of the 2000 watt power station and its linked to solar, charging when driving and directly to mains hookup with pass through so basically aUPS system. So far its working fine. At a recent off grid camper meetup I used 42% of the power and by the time I got back home from the lakes, the drive and 360 watts of solar on the roof had put another 40% back in. So its deffo doable. My only concern with the allpowers ( I dont know if the new one is different) is that they use the old lithium ion batteries and not LIPO4. I'm just wary of the fire risk with standard litium ion batteries. Great video though and the van is looking brilliant. Much respect- Kenny
I'm in the same boat! Currently making first steps in learning how to do my fist conversion. So far I'm mostly scared about electricity and cutting holes :)
I used Keter garden storage. The grey ones look cool, they’re light weight and easy to cut holes in. Plus, with a power bank like these (I use bluetti) just drill a hole and plug in an extension lead and screw the 4 x plug lead to the side. Easy
In my conversion the only holes I put in were to attach a solar panel to the roof. For my hook up I simple pass the cable through either the passenger or drivers window both of which have wind deflectors so no problem. My ThetFord cassette toilet is on a hidden slide out at the bottom of the wardrobe and is removed via the rear door. "Simples". I do have a leisure battery system, but this year added a similar Power Pack so I have 240 volt when travelling (my van does on have gas). If I were to build another campervan I would now only have a Power Station for electric. I donation wild camp so always have site hook available but the power station means I can have a day or two out and still cook and have tv etc. I also use it during the daytime in my house and recharge it at night on Economy 7 when it gets low, so electric in the house at less than half day rate.
I converted exactly the same van early this year and I use 2 of these power units and while I use one I charge the other from my solar on roof. If I’m on site with power I just plug van in and when no power I use my power station plugged in to my fuse board that runs the whole van. Easy. No leisure batteries, inverters, and chargers so save loads of weight as well.
You recon two of them power boxes weigh less than a conventional set up ? And by the sounds of it you still plug into a conventional set up whilst on site ? Is that what your saying ?
Been looking into going for the power units in my van,,, having a complete self re-fit so all options open at the mo, good vid and some good honest info 👍
Lots of people doing this and using an inverter to van battery to charge it faster and along side solar. I plan to do the same when i get my van.. hope to win this 🙏 as will come in very handy. Love the videos good job 👏
Looks like a great alternative to ecoflow. Considering their prices are very high. We are currently looking at power hookup for our micro camper build. Thanks for now giving us another option to look at.
I cant wait to start my project, still deciding to go full solar system or try something like one of these 🤔👌 Another great video though. , cant wait for next .
just trying to work out the power set-up it already has a solar panel on the roof but it looks pretty old and the wiring in the van is a bit Iffy to say the least so a complete do over is gonna be needed Im new to this game and as a 69 year old pensioner need to get it right first time as planning a trip to France next year to celebrate my 70th and visit some war graves as I am also a Veteran this video has been a great help thank you
I'm considering a van build next year and have already decided to go with a power station rather than a bunch of blue boxes. It's cheaper, easier and so much more convenient. Can this one be expanded with other battery units like the Bluetti range can?
All very good, until middle of winter it needs charging, sometimes no sun for weeks, 12v from driving takes hours. I have no way of using mains to charge. Oh by the way Maidwell no longer overnight.
God thats amazing mate . Hows work on the coaches doing i was working for Johnson bros . I am on the look out for a Van and i have been watching all your videos so i am up to date on your videos as your videos are amazing and the information you give is the same amazing and i really like your Airfry and what you put in it ... pizza really i am going to try that tonight mate thanks so much 👍.
Saw your video and just purchased one from Amazon like the one in your cupboard not the new one 4 solar panels £787 got a 30%off deal at the moment going to see how it goes in my micro camper 😉KRO
Morning wow love you, you have a great look on life, you make me laugh, plus your great eye candy. ❤❤❤ Love the idea of using power banjs but do have the brain to work out what I need, but you made it easy. Many thanks now just have to save up to get one, but like the idle of using this, so roll on the future to get what,it make the winter easier as just have Heat or lights. 😂😂😂. Catch you later chilllllllll. Xxx
Where you giving these for free in return to do an advert ? If not excellent, we can trust your review. If you did, then it’s just another channel doing a brand deal. As you mentioned at the start.
😮😮😮 1300 squid 😮😮😮 for that I’d want all powers to come round and cook me breakfast as well 😂 ……
Actually £800 at the moment from Allpowers UK.
That’s just for unit …. He had solar panels also … are panels free now, I doubt it 🙄
Vtoman flash power, there's a good deal on them now with x2 solar panels 50 percent off
Amazon
This is the first time on your channel, i have just started Van Life with a van just like yours,, so will be a regular visitor for hints & tips.
Great video food for thought. Good you tested solar in cloudy weather.
After researching bait I have decided that when I get my van to convert I will use a portable power station - to me and what I need it is far easier and cheaper than wiring in a leisure battery etc for my meagre power needs.
Seen the first video when you reviewed the first power station. Very good bit of kit and well reviewed both times.
Flipping awesome that would really do me as my sprinter doesn’t have enough power to run, anything other than me lights lol

Like the look of that and so much easier than phaffing about with blue boxes and batteries
Interested. I'm just starting a van build was thinking of something along these lines until i get proper solar sorted.
nice to see someone actually testing in real life, with proper weather conditions. nice one mate
Nice one mate.. Been missing my Indi_Van_A fix lately 😃

Nice bit of kit
Thanks for a great no nonsense review
What a piece of kit that is.
Another great video it looks and sounds very good i think every van could do with one👍👍

Been looking into going for the power units in my van,,, having a complete self re-fit so all options open at the mo, good vid and some good honest info 👍
Great video best wishes dave chubb
Nice bit of kit I reckon you could use it instead of a inverter
Looks like a great alternative to a built in system.

Those chimneys at fiddlers ferry are getting demolished on December 3rd between 8am and midday, meh be worth recording
Another good vlog and a good, real world, test of the unit. 👍
Brilliant video again keep up the good work 👏
Awww my van build could do with that fosure....
Very informative video, new to your channel and really enjoyed your knowledge 👏👍
Epic content
I’m going to do a build next year. I think that’s a great way to go. 😎
Fantastic video
very interesting idea's and an informative video 👍🏻
Look forward to finding out how you managed with using yours with charging it.
We love you blogs please keep it up 👍
Can you put a link in plz for the unit and the solar kit 😊
That mint that bro
Recently purchased a campervan with a standard 90ah battery, definitely need a extra power source as planning some off grid stopovers 🤔
Great video, but what's an iron?

Hi fella, is that a side window extender decal you have on? If so do you have a link for it its way nicer than others ive seen
the newer allpowers have expansion ports for external batteries, my mind is over the place to choose between bluetti or allpowers

That plug on the front that you said you don’t know what it is… it looks like the plug on heavy duty extension cords here in the USA. 🤷🏻♀️
For the cost of one of these you could build a pretty decent Victron system. For the two you have you could live like a king.
That looks like an international multi socket to me looks like it would take various plugs including Aussie/NZ
We would love to win the solar power station and solar panels x👍
Take the paper off the plug of your jigsaw. It is a fire hazard 🔥
Saw your video and just purchased one from Amazon like the one in your cupboard not the new one 4 solar panels £787 got a 30%off deal at the moment going to see how it goes in my micro camper 😉KRO

Did you pay for them or gifted ?
👍👍
Did you get the answer... I think I need to save...
Me please I need this thank you
So did you ever work out if you could use this power station to run your van?, did you find a way to plug it into your present system?
Where you giving these for free in return to do an advert ?

Bit pricey but you get what you pay for
Just not practical for full time van life and for the price of these overpriced power stations 😂 you can have a decent solar set up. ❤️🙏🏻
