First off, I'm glad that you're okay from the accident. Secondly, I'm sure you're grateful for having such great friends who support you and your welfare. I look forward to seeing more of your journeys and beautiful photography. Hopefully you'll have another 6 years or more with this rebuild and the water leaks won't happen again! Enjoy your travels and stay safe, Christian. ❤
Christian I enjoy your channel very much. It's a bit more work, but after pre cutting wood pieces prior to assembly, you can coat all sides with epoxy and rot and mold will be a non-issue.
Water: gives life, destroys life. Wow it's crazy how drastic the damage was. It must have been so unsettling. The moment that made it seem real was seeing all the pieces of the old van in the bins. I am SO glad you got help restoring your home. Your story about rolling your SUV gave me chills. Such an experience is life changing. I'm wishing you many epic adventures in the future!
So glad you caught the mold before it got serious. I had a friend who kept getting sick and they couldn't figure out why. Then they discovered she had mold in her home, in the walls, but by the time they found it, it was too late. She passed away. Mold is nothing to mess with.
Mold is an irritant. It doesn’t just intrinsically make you ill or cause severe infection. In someone who has severe respiratory allergies or asthma for example it can cause worsening of those symptoms. But otherwise mold is just an allergen/irritant. Anything else you hear is just the exception that proves the rule.
As someone doing their own van build and not having a single bit of experience or skill, it always amazes me to watch professionals work. Everything turns out so nicely and they can work so damn fast! Can't wait to get the new tour! Having survived rolling down the side of a mountain 7 and a half times in my car one winter morning without sustaining so much as a bruise or a scratch, I can identify with the gratitude you feel. It makes you wonder! I guess we both have more to do here on 'the rock'!! 😃 Thanks for sharing!
Makes you know how well that van must be built out, too. Someone hits you, or you roll, you don’t want any of that build or anything in it to be what gets you. To break apart or become projectiles. Stay safe! ❤
I cried when you first said that your gut instinct knew that the rebuild was going to happen. I’m thrilled for you🎉 and can’t wait for more adventures - you’re always traveling to my “favorite spots” and it brings a flood of good memories and hopeful heart for more to come - ❤
Dear Christian, I'm glad that you were able to rebuild the van! Your ability to persevere when life gets tough is beyond admirable! I hope you're doing well! Much love from Germany, Johannes!
The New build looks great Christian. It's so good to have friends that know what they are doing. I've had to do a basic no build, throw it together mix in my tiny high top van/ bus. There are already so many things I want and need to change but it's going to take a lot more money than I have to put towards it right now since I'm on a very fixed disability income,so maybe next year it will get a new look. I've just now moved into it and been here with my fur babies (2 cats, 1 dog) for 4 weeks and just adjusting to the changes mentally, physically, financially and emotionally it all brings about. As always safe travels to you and always Love, Love, Love your photography you share and your calming storyline.
Could've been a lot worse, thought it would've been a roof leak at first. Always love the feeling of a fresh start after a new reno. It's like moving without moving.
It's been a while... we missed you.I'm glad you're back on the road even though it must have been rough .You have a knack for making even the most ordinary events into compelling stories.I really dig your vibe.
I am so happy for you Christian!!!!! I am thrilled that you haven’t given up van life because I absolutely love your channel and amazing talent in photography and videography!!!! Thank you for sharing your life and thoughts!!! I am so thankful you didn’t get hurt in that accident!!!! I feel truly blessed to have found your channel about one year ago or more. God be with you and keep you safe! Love and hugs❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️
A sad ending, but a bright new beginning. Thank God you survived that crash. Now all that you have to do is to take the van into new adventures which I'm sure you will. I'm glad it all worked out. Take care! Thank you for sharing this journey!
Glad to see that it’s finally fixed. One thing I’ve learned is no matter how bad the storm might seem or look sooner or later there is a rainbow. Looking forward to the new van tour
Congratulations Christian, glad you decided to fix the van and look forward to more videos and a full tour but whatever you do long term, wish you the best. Hopefully you'll keep posting. Your positive attitude and outlook is infectious and more in this world could learn a thing or two from you about how to handle adversity. Safe travels out there and look forward to your next post.
I found myself near whimpering when you talked about quitting and then cheering and whooping when you announced the decision to rebuild. I am sure my dog thinks I have lost my mind LOL Great episode and I am so looking forward to your art as you continue the journey.
“I basically lost my home and my vehicle all at once”, the WORST feeling, especially twice! (Unfortunately relatable) So excited you’re sticking out van life :))) can’t wait for the tour
Hey Christian, The van rebuild looks like it turned out great. Looking forward to the tour. Brett and you did an amazing job, along with Sean and Anita. It truly was a miracle from above that you came out of that incident without a scratch ... Thank God! (Angels watching Over You, Amy Grant) Otherwise, you may have never started your RUclips channel, began your journey in van-life, and inspired so many with your art. Safe travels and best wishes always.
Hey, it definitely sucks you have to rebuild your van. I hope the rebuild is going good. Another way of looking at it is, the wear and tear on your van is proof of all your awesome adventures!!!
I'm always drawn in from beginning to end with all your videos. What a gift you have ! And how lucky you are, to have so many talented people in your life. I'm very happy for you. 😊
You look amazing. I watch your videos because of your openness and to learn. But your dedication to your diet, health and fitness have produced amazing results. Could you do a video breaking down your weekly meals, how much you walk, bike and time spent mentally resetting?
I am amazed you had that much “stuff” in your van! I am equally amazed at your perseverance and your commitment to your van life lifestyle! Here’s wishing you the best as you and your adventures roll on!
Christian, your films showcasing your lifestyle never cease to enthrall me. As a worn-down Manhattanite, I thirst for the freedom and grand nomadic lifestyle that you have. Through subtle moments - sipping coffee as the sunrise casts a golden glow, or gazing up at a night sky untainted by city lights - you capture the spirit of adventure in a thoughtful, compelling way, even when things don't go as planned. Your videos showing the downsides of van life even fail to blemish its appeal. Watching your van meander across rugged landscapes stirs something in me. I find myself longing for the same escape, to trade skyscrapers for starry nights and live with less planning. Your work makes room to reimagine what's possible. Keep chasing the horizon, and I'll keep watching vicariously for now. 📺
Thanks for this video, Christian. Very interesting to watch the process from beginning to end. Glad the build went well. Brett definitely knew what he was doing. Looks great! Enjoy! We're ready for more videos.
Thank God you survived that devastating accident. So sorry about losing the blue Xterra but wow about the 3 doctors who stopped and being in Canada. Wow. Love the work you guys are doing on the van along with the assessment work you're doing on yourself. It remains a gorgeous build. ❤
Great looking build! I am amazed at how much stuff you were able to store in the old build. It always looked so uncluttered that I assumed you were a minimalist, but with 18 pairs of shoes, probably not so much. Even the best build takes a lot of wear & tear from 4 years of constant use. Enjoy your new van and stay safe. Happy trails.
Christian, the universe has your back ! I'm so glad you are alive !! Car crash, very scary ! You are so talented and have such an eye for capturing the beauty of nature all around us that we take for granted. You are so gifted. Thank you for sharing your craft ! As a jewelry designer in Tucson, hope our paths can meet some day. But what you share is so inspiring, I thank you !!! D.
I am so glad you are able to continue your journey. I have been on the road a little over a year now, and all I can say is, it gets into your blood and bones, and it ecomes a part of you. I don't know what I would do if I was forced out of this lifestyle now. Your vids were a large part of my inspiration to take my cameras and hit the road, and I've loved it. Thank you for sharing your journey, and I sincerely hope the new build rejuvanates your love of the lifestyle.
Oh, there was quite a flood. Watching them tear it down and rebuild it reminds me of when I first built my camper van. It's been a year since I built mine, and there are a few cracks here and there, too. But I'm focusing on enjoying it because I can start over anytime. And... 17:30 is such a fantastic space!
I constantly am amazed at how talented some folks are when working with their hands. Wow. Love that you were able to rebuild - and that you knew in your gut that's what you wanted to do. Also grateful that you were able to walk away from that accident and live life on the road despite it. Looking forward to the updated tour and all of the new adventures that lie ahead!
Congratulations on an awesome rebuild. Wishing you many happy miles of safe, healthy, and fulfilling journeys as you continue to produce such beautiful content.
Out with the old, in with the brand new! I'm sure you had amazing fond memories but when one old van goes away, a new one comes with new adventures and new memories! I'm happy you're able to start over and continue your van life that I enjoy watching so much! Stay safe out there, and maybe one day our paths will cross! 🥰🙏🏽
Wow, super impressed with the creativity and craftsmanship. So blessed to have such good talent around. God speed on your next adventures girl. Prayers.
you were the first van and van life RUclipsr who i connected with! I am so sorry this happened but i am also so happy you shared with us a very real reality! And im happy you are sticking. I love your videos and your photography and yours is the videos i show people who think im crazy for this life. Thank yo9u for sharing and you’re awesome. And smart and beautiful and talented. I’ll watch as long as you post.
I'm so happy you decided to keep at the van life. I was worried another of my favs would disappear from it. This is my dream and I love watching you do it.
As soon as the music starts i can already tell its going to be a good video. Was happy to find out that i was right, the smooth transitions, captivating story telling and jaw dropping cinematography. Very happy to hear more is yet to come. Safe Travels.
You are BRILLIANT, COURAGEOUS, & BRAVE!!! Your journey both professionally & personally, is inspirational to many. I’m still fulltime vanlifer 4+yrs & understand your challenges! BRAVO for overcoming adversity 🎉❤😅
What a full make over of the Van! Great work! Heard about your crash and your survival. Grateful that you have recovered without a scratch. Be safe out there with the renewed Van. See you in the next one! 🤩🥹
Similar experience, I was living in my Ford explorer and it was old and repairs exhausted my funds. Consequently I've been living in a shed that I bought with my stimulus check for the past two and a half years. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any work for the past year that is within walking distance. So yes Ma'am I lost my vehicle and my home both at the same time and now it looks like the shed will be soon to go too. I was converting it into a tiny home but funds ran out. Now with a loaf of bread and a jar of peanut butter costing about $12, Id say the writing is on the wall. Stay Safe and Stay Frugal. Tough times ahead. 🙏👍😎
Definitely feel you made the right choice fixing the van. Property prices and interest rates are too high and I believe they will come down. Well, hoping more than believing haha. Plus, when you get your property, your van will be ready to roll when you're feeling too cooped up. Miracle you came away from that accident unscathed.
Feeling pretty selfish right now because I didn’t want your van journey to end. So happy to see your home restored and even better than before! Safe travels and blessings! If you are ever in Bakersfield, CA. know that you have a friend there. 😊
The best of both worlds is to have a place, a headquarters, and the van. Got a kick out of watching the number of trips you made in and out of the van. Been there, done that more than once! Get a 4x4 if you can. That is my next step unit once I sell the Pleasureway.
Thank you for sharing. Your clean designs are always an inspiration to me. I also just always enjoy your videography skills in sharing your journey. Looking forward to building my own van soon. Great work!!
Any time you survive, a serious accident is transformational. I'm very happy all turned out well for you. Your friends helped you with redoing your van, kodos to them for helping you. Now, as you start your new ventures, you have many friends who will continue to follow and enjoy your travels. As Willy Nelson has sung for years, "On the Road Again.", and we all look forward to your new sights and sounds.
The crash was a shocker, the fact it was in Canada a blessing, otherwise you might not be here in one way or another. How do you do it? You even make the (re)build video look fun! Safe travels wherever the road takes you ❤🙏
Regarding the crash being in Canada, it makes a fantastic argument for single-payer healthcare. Imagine being in a rollover accident and trying to convince bystanders that you don’t need an ambulance because you don’t have healthcare! Meanwhile you could have internal injuries or something. Thank goodness she was there and not here in the states.
OMG, it is amazing what can be stored away in such a relatively small space of a van that you live in! Great to see you are going to get the Van restored--either for you or a buyer who follows you enjoying the life you did in it!
I’m glad you were able to get help redoing the floor and the rebuild. I was hoping you’d be able to salvage most of the cabinetry. Please don’t change plans and leave van life (at least not yet). Your escape from conformity and the mundane is just too inspiring.
Hey Christian...nice to see you. What a great metaphor for what we all go through. Problems demand attention. Tearing down. Removing damaged pieces, and rebuilding. What's always cool about getting to the metaphorical or physical rebuild, is that we have an opportunity to do it differently, and better. The Phoenix rising. I really always love your videos, and I think you're in a much better place to decide what's next. I appreciate you rebuilt the van...no matter what. I'm pretty sure your path forward will be all the better for it.
So excited for your new build!!! Be sure to ask your builder to spray a clear coat on the internal circuit board of the MaxAir fan. If you ever go to Florida or somewhere humid, the buttons will stop working and you'll have to only use the remote. I have two in my van and they both stopped working the day I got to the Everglades.

Passed away from mold? So sad. What specifically killed her? I haven’t ever heard that it could be fatal unless you’re immunocompromised.

Blooming brilliant Christian 😊 Out with the old and in with the new, and many more aventures to come! 😎
☺️🚐🙌🏻
Don't forget to protect the areas where hoses go through the sheet metal bottom of the van!
Feeling pretty selfish right now because I didn’t want your van journey to end. So happy to see your home restored and even better than before! Safe travels and blessings! If you are ever in Bakersfield, CA. know that you have a friend there. 😊
thank you! 🤍
Wow it'll feel like a completely new home!
it definitely does ☺️
The best of both worlds is to have a place, a headquarters, and the van.
Great work!!
woo! so awesome that you’re building your own van 🙌🏻
Wow! Your friends are so talented and jacks of all trades, down to sewing the covers for the cushions! They did a great job!
☺️🙏🏻
🥲🙏🏻🤍
Congratulations Christian on your rebuild.
Wishing you 1,000’s more amazing adventures.
You are truly an inspiration.
All the Best to You! ✅🙏😘
🥲🙏🏻
Wow, Brett is great at those van remodels. Looks awesome.
he sure is 🙌🏻
Hey Christian...nice to see you. I'm pretty sure your path forward will be all the better for it.
thanks Pete 🥲🙏🏻
So excited for your new build!!! Be sure to ask your builder to spray a clear coat on the internal circuit board of the MaxAir fan. If you ever go to Florida or somewhere humid, the buttons will stop working and you'll have to only use the remote. I have two in my van and they both stopped working the day I got to the Everglades.
Loved this vlog video of you all doing the renovation. Can’t wait to see the tour. ❤
yaaaay!!!! for your new van build. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼continued travel mercies and blessings. 🕊
congrats on the beautiful rebuild, it is so nice to see that you had such lovely people help you and got you on the road again!
Ahhhh the build video! That was awesome, good times!!! Limoncello forever
thanks for you help!! you’re the best
Great to see you and the van are BACK! Yeah! But... felt the 'pain' watching Brett do demolition work barefoot! Scary!
