You capture so perfectly what I miss the most about living on the road. I love the way you show the beauty of the landscape and sky and the light dancing all over. It truly is the most spectacular thing to see and it happens all around us every single day, but most of us miss it because we’re stuck inside in some office in some city somewhere. It’s so simple and so incredible. I get the same feelings of heartbreaking awe and peace and inspiration from watching your videos as I did when I could see it with my own eyes. Until I can get back on the road thank you for sharing 🙏🏻 And holy crap I almost peed my pants just listening to your mountain lion story. So scary 😳
Hey, Christian another beautiful video of yours! I always look forward to watching them they're pretty poetic and your voice is so soothing when you narrate your story.... beautiful! Anyway, beautiful video keep up your great story going the world really needs positive vibes! Ciao!
Christian, you had some really incredible video toward the end. You have developed a really good sense for capturing moments that are inspiring. Thank you.
OMG that Mountain Lion scream made me jump (I’m Australian so I haven’t heard that before) I think I would’ve shat myself had it been me😂😂 lol I think you handled it brilliantly! Yup and I love the self close door on my big old VW crafter ( I probably would swung my door shut so hard and quickly it would be in the front seat.). How you waited for the auto door to close…. Hell I would be having a heart attack! Besides said ML scream introduction, the video was amazing show casing the beauty of the area. Thanks for the enlightenment of scenery and new sounds to haunt my dream/nightmares 😂
I wish I could have wrangled that door shut faster….BUT I had tried to before and it just stopped moving and/or went in reverse and that just wasn’t a risk I was willing to take 😅👀
That sound sent chills down my spine. You handled that very well! Be loud, be big, and remove yourself. I tend to think it was a fox because lions hardly ever make it known they are there. That evening hour is the right time though for most predators. You better be carrying that bear spray on night hikes. It works on all animals. Can't wait to see our van after it is finished.
So glad to hear you're okay! You might think it's embarrassing to act like that when you're scared, but when you're out in the wild, sometimes we forget that we are just mammals too. When a wild animal rolls up on you, acting like a big scary wild animal too can literally save your life. Sounds like you scared it! I also have a mountain lion story. I used to live in Southern California in a small rural town and decided to go hiking in the wooded area at night because "it would be spooky" -_- Being alone in the woods at night is wayyy scarier than you think it is! I made it half way down the determined trail when I heard a very large animal give an annoyed, angry growl. I froze and decided just to back up slowly while scanning the forest line intensely with my flashlight. I eventually made it back off the trail in what seemed like forever checking behind myself every 5 seconds. When I got home, I did some googling and found that the growl I heard sounded EXACTLY like a mount lion! It was definitely a "who tf are you, go away" growl and not a "I'm going to eat you" growl. Lesson learned: Walking alone in the woods at night doesn't prove anything and isn't just a spooky activity, it's just stupid. Either bring friends and be prepared, or just don't go. Also, if a mountain lion or black bear ever rolls up on me, my plan is to act like a furious chimp/caveman and just yell and throw stuff around. Hopefully they'll think i'm too much trouble for a meal XD
So scary! Honestly, I’ve spent a lot of time alone in the woods at night. Usually because of poor planning, but I’ve managed to survive well enough. Imagine telling a fellow human from 1000 years ago that we are now incapable of being outside alone at night. Kind of embarrassing tbh 😅
@@ChristianSchaffer being scared, no matter where nowadays, is a bit where it has boiled down to for humanity...sadly. At least you took the right aproach here... :)
@@ChristianSchaffer You did everything so well. Maybe next time it might be good to just go in one of the front doors. We lived up in Mammoth for quite a few years. Year around .. pretty magical. Great video as always. You triumphed 🦊
I’m glad you didn’t get attacked by a mountain lion. I’m certain you are even more glad. An acquaintance told me his story of coming face to face with a mountain lion. He saw three below and upwind of him. He had never seen one in the wild before. Let alone three. So he decided to get a closer look. He was going down the hillside, came into a clearing, and was face to face with one. It scared the living crap out of him. But he lived to tell the tale.
What a scary story. I too had a brush with a mountain lion in Utah that sounded very similar. You did the right thing tho! Heart stopping footage as usual. That rainbow was the Chef’s kiss.
I absolutely love your videos…I get to see places that I will never be able to get to them….your photography is amazing….thank you so much for sharing 😊❤
When I see a notification for your videos it’s like Christmas morning! I know there is a present waiting for me… I just don’t know what is inside. But I know I’m going to like it!
I mean, it could have been aliens and you interrupted their date night. Congressional hearing said they are real 😉. Your storytelling is exceptional. As you retold the mountain lion incident and before the words flashed up on the screen, my mind immediately went to the beginning of your video where the van door slowly opened. Horror movie for sure. That moment must have felt like eternity. Glad you made it through unscathed!
My family is traveling through this area on the way to Yosemite next month. I remembered your videos on the Alabama Hills, which inspired me to see them in the first place. So I decided to watch the video again. As always, nice work.
Omg yes nothing like hearing a mountain lion call to poo and freak out! Such amazing beauty you always show us! Thank you (seems too small) for all the heart filling pleasure it gives. 💝💜
Unbelievably stunning and beautiful. And your footage ain't bad either, haha. Seriously, Christian, your work is amazing, but you are the star. Pretty cool "loaner" van. Can't wait to see your new one.
Stunning photography as always, and the views of Mt Whitney are fantastic. I'm 62 and live in Ptown (East Bay) and came across a mountain lion about 10 yards away when was walking near my house on a bridge across a creek. Not my first rodeo w/ a mountain lion, but It was just past dusk and at first I didn't recognize it until it hunched down and growled/hissed/screamed. I tried to act big and make loud scary noises, but all that came out at first was the feeling of running and a whimper (i.e. all the wrong things)... took a few attempts before anything with "Meaning" came out of my mouth before it turned and finally ran the other way off the bridge. You should not be embarrassed about anything, and hate to tell you, but it will be a long time before you forget that sound. Take care and be safe.
Your videos are a joy to watch! You are a true artist! I love the Alabama Hills. I used to backpack the Sierra's. Climbed Mt. Whitney from the other side after catching our limit daily at Crabtree Lakes. Golden Trout! Doesn't get any better than that. I understand there is a lottery for Mt. Whitney now. I don't think that screech was a Mountain Lion. Believe it or not a fox can make a similar sound. You don't ordinarily think of foxes sounding off that way. But they can.
@@ChristianSchaffer , My first 2 week backpacking trip involved Crabtree Lakes and Mt. Whitney. Now this was many, many years ago. I was backpacking with a friend and neither of us brought a watch. We figured, why? We live by sun time. It took us 2 or 3 days to get to Crabtree Lakes. One day while the both of us were quietly fishing (we saw nobody for about 3 or 4 days) I asked my friend if he knew what day it was. He said he didn't. Suddenly it occurred to me that we needed to keep track of the days so as to not be late getting back to work. My employer would not likely buy the excuse that I lost track of the days. I started counting back. Now on this day we were here. This day were here, and so on. It finally hit me. I called out to my friend, "Hey, today is the 4th of July!"
Beautiful video, Christian! I hope your van gets rebuilt quickly - while that is happening, this 4x4 sprinter actually looks pretty amazing! Love the elevated bed feature. If you ever decide to head back to Switzerland and need a guide, I'd gladly show you all the hidden gems (that I'm still discovering myself for an upcoming video series). Stay happy. :)

Watching this video makes me want to hit the road again. Thank You for taking me along until I can get there on my own.👍🙏
Happy to receive your videos. They are a delight to my eyes and my soul. Thank you
The photography in your videos is simply magnificent!
Wow what an amazing video and a scary story. Glad you're safe.
Just always unreal always doing the scenery justice with your shots 👌🏻
When I see a notification for your videos it’s like Christmas morning! I know there is a present waiting for me… I just don’t know what is inside. But I know I’m going to like it!
I mean, it could have been aliens and you interrupted their date night. Congressional hearing said they are real 😉. Your storytelling is exceptional. As you retold the mountain lion incident and before the words flashed up on the screen, my mind immediately went to the beginning of your video where the van door slowly opened. Horror movie for sure. That moment must have felt like eternity. Glad you made it through unscathed!
Another beautiful episode. Thank you!
Thanks for watching 🥲🙌🏻
Glad you're ok.
My family is traveling through this area on the way to Yosemite next month. I remembered your videos on the Alabama Hills, which inspired me to see them in the first place. So I decided to watch the video again.
As always, nice work.
Stunning shots, as always…. Calmed my mind, Thankyou
Omg yes nothing like hearing a mountain lion call to poo and freak out! Such amazing beauty you always show us! Thank you (seems too small) for all the heart filling pleasure it gives. 💝💜
Amazing van, amazing views, amazing cinematography. You go girl. That sound, sounded more like a screeching owl.
Stunning footage as always! 😼
thank you 🙌🏻
Hope someday on the road our paths cross. you are truly an inspiration.
Hauntingly beautiful. You have a gift! ❤
Danke!
thank you!! ☺️🙏🏻
Unbelievably stunning and beautiful. And your footage ain't bad either, haha. Seriously, Christian, your work is amazing, but you are the star. Pretty cool "loaner" van. Can't wait to see your new one.
thanks for the love 🥲
That elevated bed is an incredible invention. It gives you so much more space in the van. Enjoy.
Wow you are one brave women my dog came in to see what the lion noise was 😂
Stunning photography as always, and the views of Mt Whitney are fantastic.
This is the video that makes everybody want to be vanlifers!❤
Not the end of that video though 😮
Your videos are a joy to watch! You are a true artist! I love the Alabama Hills. I used to backpack the Sierra's. Climbed Mt. Whitney from the other side after catching our limit daily at Crabtree Lakes. Golden Trout! Doesn't get any better than that. I understand there is a lottery for Mt. Whitney now. I don't think that screech was a Mountain Lion. Believe it or not a fox can make a similar sound. You don't ordinarily think of foxes sounding off that way. But they can.
Crabtree Lakes! I camped at Guitar the night before a summit sunrise hike to Mt Whitney. I miss it up there 🥲
@@ChristianSchaffer , My first 2 week backpacking trip involved Crabtree Lakes and Mt.
Beautiful video as always, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Stay happy. :)
I can’t believe you did a negative con right before you said it’s for sale. Not cool. Looks nice but I prefer your lighter colors and storage
Hello from SoCal! Looks like You've got some colors going on. Not sure what you're doing but I love the new feeling! it's like mixing in a little reality with some dreamy :) OMG some of those photos took my breath away like the one with the rainbow. 🌈 the best parts are sometimes scary as long as we get to live to tell those stories. Glad you're safe 🙏
☺️🙌🏻
I love the Alabama Hills! There were so many older films made there. Thanks for the video!
