If so, it should *NEVER* be turned on where the radiation can reach a human, especially the eyes. That kind of radiation can blind you within seconds and produce horrible burns in minutes or less (depending on distance from the UV source). My understanding is that it would have been used inside a sealed pipe to sterilise the water as it flowed through the pipe.
You definitely do NOT need deutherium for a sterilising lamp, good old mercury is more then up to the task :P This is for spectroscopy. Very expensive if you'd want to buy a new one.
A deuterium arc lamp (or simply deuterium lamp) is a low-pressure gas-discharge light source often used in spectroscopy when a continuous spectrum in the ultraviolet region is needed.
2:00 I like coaxial connectors, CNC, fiber optic stuff and networking equipment 5:00 I have a few of those, nice ones. There is a fully black version that is a real deal
Also, can’t wait to see how your spec and repair attempt turns out! I’ve been contemplating snagging one to repair myself from eBay, but I don’t have a huge need for one *yet*
I had one of those pill cameras. I fished it out. It's not mixed with poop because you have to clean yourself out so well over a couple of days there is nothing but water when you go to use it. I only wish I had the movie of my innards.
3:03 is a UV lamp! Very similar lamps are inside of the nicer UV/Vis spectrophotometers at my university chemistry lab as the UV source. Interestingly, lower end models (a la the infamous spec20) just use an expensive incandescent lamp and plastic filters...
Hmm, more OSMU hints.. can you post an update on device strategy at EEVblog? I'm interested in it's logging capabilities (and getting general input "think tank style" could boost overall interest and steering in your efforts, IMHO).
Good to know OSMU has not been shelved or forgotten! and BTW, that soldering station had some tip QC issues they're working on.. What surprised me is that they even began posting on the forum at all.. Of course, I gained more interest when they decided to send me one ( goo.gl/hzyAao ) when I didn't even ask for it. My Weller products will have to make room for it - when or if it arrives.
Hmmm, DHL are efficient in Australia. You NEED to have at least one of EVERY type of coax connector! You will need the only one you don't have at some stage
I've browsed a lot of the Nubicom stuff on eBay, and the prices seem really hit or miss. Is that spectrum analyzer from them, or one of their customers?
Thanks. i already have one. Can you share to us the squematics that you use for the ecg??* Please. i love the simplified version of an already simple circuit :D
Hi there love your channel... I wanted a couple of Dual Shaft brushless motors - ODrive site sold out... any ideas where I can source them? I am in UK... anyway best wishes and keep up the fab videos James
And that spectrum analyser up to 26.5GHz is a fucking beast. I doubt you have any gear to use it with in the higher frequency ranges or even for troubleshooting. However, not at all saying you can't fix it. Sometimes a multimeter is enough.. But if say the YIG is fucked and it goes from 4-8GHz or something like that, measuring it's output will be hard.
www.eevblog.com/forum/repair/advantest-r3273-spectrum-analyzer-stuck-in-loading-screen/ made a lot of progress, but for the next would be a deep dive into the HF guts and I feel underqualified for that :) also I'll need a cal because I replaced the step attenuator
3:06 for real now, i was watching the video until 3:00 then stopped it and quickly looked for something else and when i resumed the video i thought to myself "wait, wasnt he speaking english?" xD
Was more thinking like, hes not the first to try it, unfortunately common. Than it is going to be a piece of cake for you! Yes it is amazing how much there is to learn ;)
Kacper Jacuński I wonder why Germans like clothing with such toxic colors (his socks for example). Usually when I see a German something on him or her must be fluorescent :) And the tracksuits from Lidl are just radioactive :D
i was clickbaited expecting you would actually open the box with some high tech stuff like a laser, cnc mill or a robot. Aber der Spachtel war ja eher quite the opposite. anyhow, nice video as always...
Ugh, dragging a broken spectrum analyzer home is a bad idea, more than likely you will be unable to fix it and at the same time your bleeding heart doesn't allow you to throw it away, so you get a space wasting dust gatherer. Perhaps you can pass it on to next naive schmuck who will end up in the same situation.
"Als nächstes ham wir hier ne schöne Glühbirne."
I wasn't prepared for that! :'D
Weird to hear him speaking Deutsch :D
Mee Too. I had to play it a second time. At first i tought: Wait, WHAT?!
Jens Harbers lol me too :D
LOL
do you know the game "Autos Bauen mit Willy Werkel"? The voice is exactly the same. :D
The game of my childhood! :D
Speaks too fast for my horrible German / Dutch. I am Russian and can perfect speak Chinese language
@@YoBro230 omg I remember that, great game back than. I think my fav part was that horrible jet engine 😂
3:04 Das war unerwartet. Musste total lachen. Grinse immer noch. Bester Channel in Sachen Elektronik gepaart mit guten Humor.
That device at 3:06 is a deuterium arc lamp, used to produce shortwave UV radiation. They are used in UV/vis spectrometry.
Thought so. "Small vacuum based thing, power application, and warning signs? Definitely xray or similar!"

They were used as a source of ultraviolet light for the spectrometer. Mike's Electric Stuff has a picture of one of these things in operation.

crikey

Such a great sense of humour!
Suddenly Glühbirne xD

DHL: Dauert Halt Länger ....
DHL: Damaged, Hidden, Lost
Looking forward for the spectrum analyser repair.
Cocaine... 😂😂😂😂😂

Expecting first output voltages soon, before that I could only hypothesize (Also expecting that soldering station you've suggested :)

L1403 is a deuterium arc lamp ;-)
Hmmm, DHL are efficient in Australia.

3:14 It's a deuterium lamp for a UV spectrometer.
How many takes did the spatula flip need
Cassini burned up in the atmosphere of Saturn.
Maaaan i love your videos...let me smile all the time...and coz of u i bought the damn ts100 full package...now its on with elektronics :-)
„Als nächstes hammer hier ne schöne Glühbirne“. You made my day.....
The l1403 tube is a Deuterium arc lamp en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deuterium_arc_lamp
Not sure if you ever figured out the mystery item at 3:12, but it's almost certainly a deuterium lamp from an HPLC instrument UV detector.
Great video as always. Cant wait for the next one!
Do you have any SC-jack connectors in your collection?
Hope you'll make a repair video of that Advantest soon. Can't wait to see it up and running
Hochspannung? YESS! Ich arbeite momentan an Hochspannung. Hoffentlich kann ich mehr dazulernen.
are you a motorbiker? I have the same leg scabs
Those pots are super sexy... I remember seeing dials like that on old test equipment.
I've browsed a lot of the Nubicom stuff on eBay, and the prices seem really hit or miss. Is that spectrum analyzer from them, or one of their customers?
Got it from an individual who got 2, repaired 1 and didn't need the other
The ,,schöne GLühbirne" is a Ultraviolett Light, maybe a laser or something similar
It's a deuterium lamp.
Just a friendly nag to my favourite video maker would love to see the SA repair. and any update on the osmu project ?
Thanks. i already have one. Can you share to us the squematics that you use for the ecg??* Please. i love the simplified version of an already simple circuit :D
I think Mike even did 2 videos of pill cameras. They are very interesting.

3:20 looks like a deuterium lamp. Don't turn it on without eye protection.
Cassini went to Saturn, not Mars :-)
3:04 oha, wo kommst du denn wech :D
Im Video mit dem long range WiFi konnte man sehen, dass er aus der Nähe von Hannover kommt.
Seinen anderen Videos zufolge, Raum Hannover.
jetzt weis ich, warum er deutsch gesprochen hat lol
Hey, you got some of those aldi wall cabinet things aswell!
Man, you've got some really good friends.
why de hack did you spoke german at 3:05?
but: es ist eine schöne Glühbirne XD
Nice, will be looking forward to the SA repair, if you can’t fix it send it to me to do a repair video on 😉
Why is there a water pump in the hallway?
Dude, you can't simply post a link to an Ebay-Store like that, now I'm almost out of money for the HAM radio flea market this weekend!
Thanks, 🅱️HL, Good job! 👌
Hey Marco, could you do a progress video on the Osmu?
I'm posting regular updates about it on patreon, I'll make another public video as soon as it's sort-of-working!
Nice socks fox 5:45
Cassini went to Saturn, not Mars
Lol, you opended the box and at 6:32 I said to myself "that's an spectrum analyzer", good to see I still have the "elusive lab hardware" eye :P
I like your box opening scalpel. Non-sterile
Still waiting on that repair...

whoaaaaa the camera pill ... and yes! that was the first what came to my mind ... a (actively controlled) micro-submarine.

1:42 at first i thought you have one of these embarrassing sound wave tattoos but then pleasantly notices that it's just a string
yummy parts and broken stuff :) just found your channel, i'm liking it. you're witty :D
I though you were going to use high tech stuff to open packages. I am disappointed :(
YES! I was expecting something better than a chainsaw and all we got was a knife.
Wow, thanks for sharing 😀👍
Interesting stuff 👍
I legit LOLd at the cocane joke
Uhh, the repair sounds interesting, hope it is not to "Verbaschtelt"!
Nah the guy seemed quite knowledgeable, but it will probably be when I am having a go at it :)

Do the submarineee project!!
Cool Sir! Just Gary from Maui watching you.
Don't take the risk lightly, laser light-ly!
Osmu or CNC update pls!!
3:29 Dat german humour!
Good to see I'm not the only one with an unhealthy coax connector habit.
I'm waiting for your high voltage plan 😁😁
3:12 reminds me of an electron accelerator
Those potentiometers would be nice in a diy headphone amp :p
I didn't want to watch this video until I noticed that you were the author...

Yes, it is a remix, we are having a bit of a heat wave and I can't do anything useful rn

DHL in Germany really sucks.
Sucks about the no coke man, life is tough sometimes when people use false advertising to get you excited to spend your money.
I am one of the people your style appeals to. ;-) Thanks!

That indeed is a very schöne Glühbirne!
3:44 well now it is enabled and you can´t disable it that easily ;)
