OK Mzaphod Bibl, behold as i switch to our secret language that only 80 million people will understand, unless they know how to use the Internet. Ja Marco, nur so unter uns, von einem echten Deutschen im Norden, zu einer miserablen Fälschung im Süden, was war denn gemeint? Ich steh echt auf dem Schlauch!
The thing this scope would benefit from is probably a faster reacting gui so the touchscreen feels a bit more natural. It is a step in the right direction imo
Pro tip: no drinking of any liquids whilst watching this video. I still have some in my nose and need to clean my monitor. Loving the understated humour here.
Humans consists to about 60% out of water, so be thankful that you were drinking and lost that rather than the liquid that already became fully absorbed by your body.
I have to agree with the vid and comments that R&S equipment is top notch. I use R&S almost exclusively in my lab. I haven't found any piece of theirs that doesn't work as expected. I have had many pieces of Agilent/Keysight stuff that is junk in comparison. I purchased two inexpensive function generators and one display backlight didn't work and one knob didn't work directly from the factory. I have also used the E444x series spectrum analyzers and they are horribly inaccurate and drift badly untill they warm up for a few hours. Every R&S spectrum analyzer I have used is stable and accurate even after a cold start. There stuff is more expensive than Keysight and generally have a slightly odd UI, but their performance is phenomenal. I have two RTO series scopes and they have the best performance of any scope I have ever used.
There is something about humour combined with a deadpan German accent that is amazingly funny. I come to learn and laugh. Thanks Marco. I can only imagine that scope costs as much as a compact car....it really is amazing with the features it has and I'm pretty much in kindergarten when it comes to this.
Hahaha love your humor mate, I'm always here watching your videos. I particularly loved the explosion part for some reason + the blackout + the crickets in the background hahaha I'm still using my Rigol MSO for logic analyser functions, its basic but kinda does the job. First time I saw your R&S scope I was kinda jealous I have to admit haha I was like "WTFFFFFF $$$$$$" hahaha I can fee your sadness returning it...
Love the knowledge and humor in your videos; subscribed! Be sure to wear face/eye/body protection before electrically destroying stuff! An amazing scope with serious capabilities, now I have to watch more of your videos with that scope in them.
Next thing they'll move to Nigeria and become royalty and now really really really really really need your valued help to release their 10000 units of RTB2004 from their recently deceased uncle's withheld warehouse lot or somesuch ...
4:05 How does this scope with 300MHz bandwidth manage to perform an FFT (presumably using a "math" function on CH1 input) with a result at 868MHz (let alone 2.4GHz)?
Is the OLED display upgrade for the fading keithley fluorescent display out yet? I looked through all your videos posted after this one, but I couldn't find it 🥺
"Explosive PSU" from "Banggood" these words match perfectly together, depending on the project(budget) it will be used for, i would not consider buying a low end PSU. i would go for a MEAN WELL PSU for example
Great video and very informative - thank you. The explosion made me jump in my chair :-) I need to watch your other videos with the speakers turned down.....
The plastic frontcover is also an option, i have some r&s gear and the gear is fantastic but like a mercedes; in basic configuration it is somewhat affordable but once you start adding nessescary options the price goes rapidly up, even for stupid options like a cheap plastic cover or a nylon bag.
Thanks for the summary (& laughs). I just ordered my RTB2K-COM4 & carry case, instead of the Rigol MSO4034 I had planned to get. The local R&S sales rep brought one out to my office for a trial, but it was pretty quick so good to hear from you and others the good & bad. While I love the large display, I am not sure I like the touchscreen, so I think I'm going to try it with a wireless mouse. I just wish I could have justified the cost for a RTM3000 and get the extra decodes and math functions (and speed).
i have used a DSLogic logic analyzer for a bit now, the website was jankey but it came and is a fantastic bit of kit and compatible with open source software and value for features ... its quite good
I tried approaching R&S about review units, they said they would discuss it and get back to me, they didn’t, so I guess my 3000 subs isn’t big enough for them yet LOL.
Could I ask what is potentially a pretty dumb question, but what would the advantages of something like this over USB logic analyzers be? (other than the awesome scope, but just from a logic analysis point of view) Great video as always, but the amount of Flamingoos in the video was disappointingly low
Real-time trigger, display and update. The USB ones just do a single capture on a trigger condition. Then again, they can store almost indefinitely. Each has their own purpose.
If you are capturing simple UART, not much. But if you need to trigger on an analog voltage for example that's somewhere else in the circuit and want to capture some digital data around that that trigger and see the analog waveform, you will need something like this scope.
Thought I'd have a look at pricing for this beast and it's £3,795 from Farnell. Possibly a little too much for me to spend on a scope given my infrequent use. I think I'll stick with my Farnell own brand (Tenma) one for the time being!
Hey Marco, what did you study? I'm very impressed of your work and skills, soon i start to study mechatronics... hope i can build someday things like you :D
I have a HMO3522, for 7 years my daily use scope. I still like it but I like the touchscreens from the new models. I also bought the LA but without the protocol decoders. Are they still so stupid expensive ? (I bought a zero-plus, comes with over 120 free protocols) I now use the HMO's LA to check things like the order in which relais switch in a secutest. Funny review, i liked it.
I've been trying to pretend to be satisfied with my Rigol DS1102D.. 😕 which I guess I am, I just need to make the logic adapter for it. I'll be damned if I'm going to pay more for it than I did for the scope to begin with.
Pretty sick scope. I agree that that the touchscreen is nice for menus, but knobs are just less fuss for precise work. Maybe now they will send you a non-demo unit, with maybe a few more 0s in the model # :-)
Wish I had the money for one. Super sexy scope. Oh yeah, it might be worth noting in the video that poking around with a mains earth referenced scope in a switching power supply can yield less than favorable results if you dont know what you are doing haha.
The creative jokes + legit electronics content is a fantastic combination. You've made me laugh so many times.
Who said Germans don’t have humor haha
You are hilarious!
I've gotta leave Germany asap, or there will be no hilariousness left in a few years. Canada seems quite nice ...? :)
Wild Afrotechmods appeared!
Uh, i don't catch your drift Marco.
And nice to see you alive, Afro.
Siana Gearz
Me neither..
I'm a new subscriber so, maybe you could push him to explain what he ment 🙄😐
Come on, you do it. I'm gonna wait here.
Your content is addicting. Just discovered you today and this must be the 30th video I've seen. Never stop
pretty nails
Swan Donovan I was thinking the same at 2:10
I wonder what they call a French manicure in Germany?
Did you know that these artificial nails are delivered with plain old super glue? Barbaric! I still have some left on my nails now ...
I'm incapable of using CA glue without getting it all over my fingers. One day I will have to wear mittens because gloves won't fit.
a razor or sharp knife works best for taking it off imo
6:19 did not go unnoticed, very nice transition
Such a great mix of humor and knowledge. Love it.
This is great - I am a fan of your humor - and now a subscriber. Thanks.
The thing this scope would benefit from is probably a faster reacting gui so the touchscreen feels a bit more natural. It is a step in the right direction imo
Yes, you are right, it doesn't quite have that "modern smartphone snappiness"
Pro tip: no drinking of any liquids whilst watching this video. I still have some in my nose and need to clean my monitor. Loving the understated humour here.

Awesome scope and awesome video.
And finally a video where someone pronounces the name properly :D
Marco Reps, world is better place with you in it.
Very looking forward to the UART OLED replacement for the Keithley meter. :)
Love your vids, man :)
I love them too ... uhm I mean thank you, means a lot :)
There is something about humour combined with a deadpan German accent that is amazingly funny. I come to learn and laugh. Thanks Marco.
I can only imagine that scope costs as much as a compact car....it really is amazing with the features it has and I'm pretty much in kindergarten when it comes to this.
A genius, and funny as hell! Marco! you are the man!
very nice video, as always! keep it up Marco!
Hahaha love your humor mate, I'm always here watching your videos. I particularly loved the explosion part for some reason + the blackout + the crickets in the background hahaha

I can fee your sadness returning it...
"WTFFFFFF $$$$$$" is probably the normal reaction, but I bet you can do 99% of everything with a Rigol MSO too
Love the knowledge and humor in your videos; subscribed! Be sure to wear face/eye/body protection before electrically destroying stuff! An amazing scope with serious capabilities, now I have to watch more of your videos with that scope in them.
It certainly looks awesome!
R&S changed their mailing address to Florida , USA , message me and ill send you the address :)
What, again? I just got a message that they moved to a rural area in Russia ...
Next thing they'll move to Nigeria and become royalty and now really really really really really need your valued help to release their 10000 units of RTB2004 from their recently deceased uncle's withheld warehouse lot or somesuch ...
No sorry, there's been a terrible mixup, US was last week. This week it should be returned to R&S in Australia, pm me for the address.
my latest information is that their headquarter is based in Nigeria
Love your videos
Great video and indeed a Rohde & Schwarz can not be a bad osciloscope ... very nice video and short review.
Actually it is the worst I have ever seen. DC department is great, but they do not have an idea of scopes.
I can imagine your sadness when you need to turn this wonderfull device in. Great video as usual and very entertaining.
Blowing shit up got an instant thumbs up from me! (along with the snicker...)
Great video... and you're current wielding Savage... god bless ya.
RUclips automatic subtitles interpreted Rohde & Schwarz as Hold on Farts. I think a brand name upgrade is in order.
4:05 How does this scope with 300MHz bandwidth manage to perform an FFT (presumably using a "math" function on CH1 input) with a result at 868MHz (let alone 2.4GHz)?
Loved the nails :D Great scope shame they didn't put in the 50 ohm termination and better maths like their older offerings had.
Marco Reps, I can't tell if these older videos are more or less unhinged than the more recent ones you've made
Great video! Very informative and funny like always :D
Is the OLED display upgrade for the fading keithley fluorescent display out yet? I looked through all your videos posted after this one, but I couldn't find it 🥺

Good to hear, Commander Kean :) (I too am lusting after an RTM3000 now)
what happened to the electronic load you made in an earlier video?
i have used a DSLogic logic analyzer for a bit now, the website was jankey but it came and is a fantastic bit of kit and compatible with open source software
and value for features ... its quite good
Loved the video....I'm hoping R&S equips you will each new scope they have!
Can't wait to see the Keithley OLED screen replacement!
dude where is the keithley video ???
Pretty good, and you didn't even blow-up the scope. Two thumbs up. (You're always entertaining :-)
I tried approaching R&S about review units, they said they would discuss it and get back to me, they didn’t, so I guess my 3000 subs isn’t big enough for them yet LOL.
But you'll get there soon, your content is very good
Marco Reps - thank you.

That strut at 1:11....priceless
still Very happy with mine
I almost taught i'm watching an EloectoBoom video because of these explosions :D
same. thought I clicked on the wrong link
Hey Marco, what did you study? I'm very impressed of your work and skills, soon i start to study mechatronics... hope i can build someday things like you :D
Computer Science, not recommended :)
haha honest answer!
Marco Reps what do you recommend?
I couldn't help but notice that you hit 30A when PSU blew.
According to the panel meter it was supplying 30v at that time.
Thank you for sharing :-)
Marco reps, did you use a 1X or 10X probe when you were measuring the bipolar power supply's noise?
What voice synthesizer software are you using? Love the videos.
I think it was LiveGerman 2018™
Dieter Talk 5
The worst part is always sending back the equipment, indeed, what's the part number of that nice OLED display you're going to use?
MCOT256064C1Y-GM
Dude I'd be leaving town with this :)
I have a HMO3522, for 7 years my daily use scope. I still like it but I like the touchscreens from the new models. I also bought the LA but without the protocol decoders. Funny review, i liked it.
Yeh, it's all quite pricey, but so is the competition. As you said, 97.5% of things can be done with older hardware
5:14 is it just me or does everyone else nervously laugh like he did after everything electric you explode
What was the synthesiser you've had for a long time? It looked like a Synclavier controller but I'm not sure if it is?
Almost right! DK Synergy II
Where to get such nice oled display?
Did that wire in the jar of water come from the electron enema of that gold resistor ?
Nope, that's constantan wire which has a very thin isolation layer. I guess that rubbed off and shorted the wire somewhere
I don't think that wire is insulated
5:19 take care bro❤️
#ElectroGyan
It doesn't have a youtube app? What good is it as a mobile device then?!
5:18 that laughter
5:53 The most important tool I always have with me? A flash light!
Where did you find that OLED display?
MCOT256064C1Y-GM
Who is the nail model?
R&S MAke fabulous gear. Have new stuff and picked up quite a few used gems on eBay too. Worth every penny :)
1:06 look like that packing could make some sound proofing
I've been trying to pretend to be satisfied with my Rigol DS1102D.. 😕 which I guess I am, I just need to make the logic adapter for it. I'll be damned if I'm going to pay more for it than I did for the scope to begin with.
How lucky is that UI, holy shit!
Wow RTB2004 Beauty...
Pretty sick scope. I agree that that the touchscreen is nice for menus, but knobs are just less fuss for precise work.
Maybe now they will send you a non-demo unit, with maybe a few more 0s in the model # :-)
Why not control this scope 20Km away using LoRaWAN
Okay, send this one back and the company should send and allow you to keep their next, newer version, which you'll use but not demo. 😊
Stepping on ElectroBOOM territory now!
When next video coming?
Another product video very soon. For the next big DIY project I am waiting for PCBs
Marco, I think R&S should let you keep the scope. Your videos would be a great advertisement for their fine product.
5:53 sparky got out! lmao!!
Wish I had the money for one. Super sexy scope.
Oh yeah, it might be worth noting in the video that poking around with a mains earth referenced scope in a switching power supply can yield less than favorable results if you dont know what you are doing haha.
Ooooh...THAT would Look Great on MY Bench!
Tell me about it ... XD
Vertical section, top knob is missing the label "position". Ok, now I want a discount!
What car do you drive?
Volvo S60
Maybe try Keysight's Wave 2018 giveaway.
C‘mon, R&S, just let him keep it!
"But I'd be happy to work with R&S hardware again in the future" *Hint* *Hint*
If I was the person over at the company I would have just said keep it, you obviously love it.
Maybe give you a super discount code lol idk
Wow they should let you keep it. Be best advertising they can buy.
wow that oled!
Mit dem R&S Handtäschchen halte ich es für besser Dich zukünftig mit 'Sir' anzusprechen.
@kti nope
5:53 Plopp! Plopp das heißt Stopp! Nur noch einen Hopp, dann bleibt es dabei!
hmmmm those canon 3ccd camcorder are treats. very nice.
WHATS WITH THE NAILS
You gott a beautiful nails by the way 👍
I have one of these. Easily the best scope I've ever used
It is first one, isn´t it ?
Why don't you like keysight better than rohde and schwarz
LOL at the final explosion (It wasnt my fault this time).
5:38 made me pause the video to check my messengers ...
Those brick walls look like "Catacombs"
What the hack... 10-ish AWG wire for 10 A at 35 V... Whoaaaa....
I now can clearly see that RTB 2004 may have a much better place on my bench...
