I was born an raised in Cleveland and saw Neil Young at La Cave when I was 14. This was Gordon's first performance in America. La Cave was a great 60's coffeehouse in Cleveland that many of the artists ( Judy Collins, Bob Gibson, Tom Shipley, etc), got their start.
Thanks so much! This is a real gem. It’s been a difficult week losing Gordon. I appreciate hearing this. I think it would be a great concert to remaster the sound but I really enjoy it as is too! Interesting that he sings “Early Morning Rain” in May when Ian and Sylvia did not release their cover of it till August and Gird would not release it till 1966. Of course he wrote it in 1964. He seems so shy and a bit awkward in between songs but when he sings there is such strength and conviction in his voice. i would live a single of “Long River”. Thanks again!🙌
I believe this was Gordon without accompaniment in the form of the "troubadour". I'm guessing this is when he wrote "Song For A Winter's Night" during a rainstorm in Cleveland, in an apartment loaned to him for the week, while he did his La Cave gig.
