  • This is another great video from JD. It was also a easy transfer, as the record & filmstrip really withstood the test of time. The 15-A & 16-A seem to be a very well made product. Don't know if I would add one to my all red lineup, but I wouldn't turn one down if the price was right.
    Enjoy & regards!!

I can see advantages but consistency in feed will work best in dairy production. Fresh green grass always boosted Spring milk production. Fresh feed during hot dry Summers help with beef production when pastures dry up. But daily chopping of changing quality of grass won't boost production like JD promotes. Might as well feed in a lot, year around. Flail choppers worked ok but bat wing mowers have replaced flail choppers and round bales wrapped, work like a silo, plus round balers pack more fodder than chopping and piling. Ag innovation has changed since the 60's. Long term quality of tractors hasn't necessarily improved, operator comfort certainly has though!

I like that chuck wagon. It looks like it was whatever proceeded the 112.

Ikon Sees Mr No - I'm guessing even your Red manufacturer had to offer a similar flail chopper in the late 50's - 60's. It's just that more green ones seem to have survived in SE Michigan anyways. Tough to find any smaller equipment that would have been on Michigan or Wisconsin farms from the 50's - 70's in the Plains area of Kansas.

I'm trying to remember what model IH had back then & can't think of it. I know Gehl had the 72. They also had a flail cut head for the CB600. The Gehl units were quite popular around here.

They were really big in Dakota county (the Twin city metro area.) We had one and my cousins had one. Although the only thing we ever used them for was corn stalks, and believe it or not blowing snow off the edge of a 1/4 mile driveway.
