  • This one turned out great! It was interesting to see the competition to Ih's 11 series of rotary cutter. Seems they both made a good, sturdy machine. The transfer was easy. The filmstrip & record were in good shape, minus one scratch & hiccup on side A. The track for this one recorded a bit loud. I toned it down some in Audacity & ended up turning it down a little more with the Movie Maker program. Hopefully it turned out ok.
    Enjoy & regards!!

I have a pull-type 127 with side-mounted wheels and hydraulic lift. I absolutely love the way that thing runs. Easily 50 years old and runs quieter than any modern rotary mower I've ever ran. It also does better in heavy material with that huge discharge chute in the back.

Awesome video. I’m rebuilding the PTO slip clutch on my 3 point 127 this evening. It’s been a great mower here on the farm.

They look like they would be handy around fence lines.

I got a 127 with sode wheels and manual lift. She's not pretty and hasn't been used in 13yrs.
y Pawpaw used it for 30 plus years till he died without issue. I missed the sound of it and the straight piped JD MT pulling it.
One day I'll get the tractor going again and start using the 127 again.

I remember back in the 60s my dad bought a new offset with the wheel gards and slip clutch pulled it with a 2510 narrow front to clear off hundreds of acres of over grown land to turn over for corn land that land is still in production

That's really putting it through its paces. How well did the knives hold up?

It really worked he got the reversible blades when dad had to sharpen the blades he heated to a brite red and pounded them back to an edge drenched in oil to cool with the offset it ran out to the side of the tractor once I was riding on the fender he was mowing to back round and ran over a parcel roll of rusty woven wire took hours to cut it out as I understand now those mowers didn't have stump jumpers .Bush hogs have came a long way since to 60s thanks for those old JD videos dont know where you got them brings back memories

Besides a manure spreader, this is probably one of the most abused pieces of equipment on a farm.

Oh yeah, they take one heck of a beating. That reminds me of an IH promo video that's floating around YT somewhere. It's for the IH x11 series rotary cutters. There's a 311 or 411 on an 806 & the guy is taking down small trees with it. Nothing shy of impressive!

I'm not sure when Deere came out with their first rotary cutter, but Bush Hog came out around 1950. It would be interesting to see when the other manufacturers came out with theirs.
