@@frankr.1594 the 10 to 30 series didn't use an orbital valve. It was a pressure adjusting setup.. I've rebuilt a few... Yet I don't know how they actually work, but they do.
A funny true story my relatives were coming to visit my grandmas farm. I was 7 years old anyway i noticed the fuel was very low so picked up the cultivator up and headed to the yard fuel tanks. My relaters were there i had to drive by the house to get to the fuel tanks as i drove by the house he just stared at me as i stopped the tractor to open the gate, then drove through and got off and closed it. Pulled to the fuel tanks and took on a load of fuel. I repeated the process and i drove by the house on way to the field. The look on his face was priceless i later learned he had a son older that me. He could not even start his car. lol this is true and 1966 every farm kid could drive at that age cheers grandma had a 3010
Driving used to be a lot less of a challenge back when there were more people that started driving tractors or even a riding mower. Now it seems all these kids got their driving techniques from a video game.
JOHN DEEREs synchro range is basically the same as the hi-low transmission that IHC had was just that JD engineers designed it where instead of using two levers and sets of linkage the used one lever
Knowing what the 4010 has for a steering valve.. it's amazing it can turn without power... They used the same valve up to the 30 series..
Called "steering orbital"?

Thank lord John Deere made a decent shift pattern by the 90s....these old tractors I still can't get used to their shift patterns
