John Deere 430 530 Round Baler Twine Wrap System & Belt Splicing Info
A great video if you are looking for info for your 430 or 530 round baler. These slide shows are pretty well put together, but I've had to make some adjustments, so the images don't advance as fast as the beeps want me to go. It makes for a bit better continuity. Also, I do like to change things up a bit when I'm making these to make them a touch more interesting.
Enjoy!

This is a great slide set & I didn't expect to fine something from the lawn & garden line. Also, I know, from owning a hydro garden tractor, that you need to keep the linkage dialed in just right. Hope this helps someone. Enjoy!

This one turned out great & everything sync'd up nice. Hopefully I have the formula figured out for the hidden beep track & this all works better in the future. Hope this video is of help to someone. Keep your eye out for more of these tech slide shows from JD. And check out my other vids. There are more of these & quite a few other filmstrips & slideshows from other companies, too. Enjoy!!

Giving The McCormick 45 Baler The Once Over

Just got this baler & am checking to see if it works ok. Still need to clean it up, but it looks like it has some potential. Between two tractor forums, I've gleaned some knowledge about knotter issues & other hangups. That should help me trouble shoot it & gives me some pointers on preventative maintenance. Also have the manuals, so I should be good to go. IF it's good to go, it will be gettin...
The One Man Tractor Parade Video

Well.... it was a short weekend & there was a lot to do (if you are wondering, I volunteer at the show). Due to my camera getting moved on me while getting situated for the parade, I lost my good view & didn't get my phone set up as second unit camera. Some dummy had it in his pocket! So, there isn't much to post of the show, this year. I'll get out what I can IF it is feasible. A lot of the cl...

It wasn't much of a cutting. About half of what an average second cutting would produce. No complaints here though. It dried perfect & green. Most of the flowers on the alfalfa & red clover dried before losing their colors. However, being light, fluffy, short & dry means it's going to tumble in front of the pickup on the baler until enough balls up to get picked up. Had to merge three windrows ...

Raise the plow up until tractor 🚜 'tiers are not spending. The plow is set to deep.
Lots of bold, straight up comparison. Pretty bold for the day. Thanks Ikon.
Hey Ikon. Always enjoy these. Glad it popped up. Great time to be a farmer and watching technology change from year to year. Would be cool to see one in operation.
I was close to getting one, years ago. Didn't have the door height or floor strength where I wanted to store it & had to pass.
@ikonseesmrno7300 Not one ya wanna leave outside.
I never saw a chuck wagon used as a manure spreader. Has anybody else?
We used the chuck wagons to pick corn also. However, I feel like we were alone in doing that because I never see other people who did that, and I never see them when they have historical ag days. So much easier than a gravity box.
Funny how they pump there own goodies, but they're all about the same.
Hey Ikon,,love the dealer videos
Glad you enjoyed, Ron!
Very educational video,i use a 430 baler to bale hay and cornstalks, good balers, thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed! Hopefully it's of some help if you ever need it.
This machine replaced the need for me, thus ending a major time on my friend’s farm.
I know the feeling. Lost two custom jobs to big squares after I moved a few years ago. The horsey people only need to handle the hay once & their happy.
😂 I love how they glorified everything. 7 inch wide belt. At 7x3=21 inches. that thing has 7 belts. a 3 foot belt in 7 inch sections 😂
Thanks for a blast from the past ikon 🙏♾️🫡🇺🇲💯
Ik the math was off a little 😂. My point was still made nonetheless. I have been getting a lot of spell checks from others 😂
@@EnergyTRE All good man, as long as you enjoyed!
@@ikonseesmrno7300 I did sir as usual
I wonder if there is any other advertisement or videos like these floating around somewhere. Also, a side note - this adjustment only affects 1983 - 1987 316, 318, 330, 420, and 430 tractors.
Thanks for the mower info. Deere did have slide sets for sales, but I haven't seen too many of them recently. Not sure if there were service department videos.... at least from that era.
Love those "tractors". I had a 420 with full steel Curtis cab on it.
That had to be a dream for winter jobs!
Family member has one of these but a 1970’s model with snowblower. He fully restored it and it works perfectly. He only uses it for snow blowing, he prefers to use a CubCadet for his actual mowing. Cause JD’s mower decks are very questionable. 🤣
I'm not a fan of how the lawn looks after a Deere has been over it vs a Cub Cadet or Simplicity. The Deere decks are built a lot heavier though.
Eww jd.....😂 I've heard good and bad, mixed feelings on those John's. I never had much time on the tractor. Thanks for the share ikon.
They're ok. Certainly some of the more well-built tractors of that era. I'll still take a Cub Cadet.
@@ikonseesmrno7300 easier to maintenance or operate? Or both
Could throw reliability in there too
This brings back memories!
A time when mechanics were allowed to make basic tools, like a piece of flat iron with a nut welded to it. The safety people/lawyers put a stop to that.
@normcameron2316 No... field techs still manufacture and modify tools all the time.
@@ShainAndrews Of course we do, we can't let bureaucracy get in the way, our job is to do. Just keep those home made tools in your toolbox and refuse to let anyone look. If they don't take it from you as a safety issue, they will claim you made it on company time and claim a patent.
Love it. takes me back to when mechanics were allowed to touch lead and knew how to use a micrometer.
@normcameron2316 Still do so today.
Was this info dealer only or could end users of the equipment get it?
Probably dealer intended but back in the day the dealer would likely have shared. Not like it is today.
@@jamesbieniek8290 Yes back when JD treated the customer like a partner for mutual benefit instead of treating them as prey to be exploited.
The thumbnail looks like an oreo cookie someone ate the icing
You know.... I didn't see the icing returned after it was checked for thickness.
Soft wire solder set in grease. Have to have the thicker shims in place so the remaining gap is small enough to crush the wire. Make it into a circle on the end of the axle.
Was that cut with a disc-bine? I know the title says short, but it almost looks as if it's somewhat chopped rather than sickled...
It was done with my mower & conditioner. There was just enough hay to get picked up by the roller without having to unscrew the cylinder clevis more.
Aluminum foil balled up works great for this too! You can also modulate the hardness by how much you crumple in!
Foil balls do not give results to the same accuracy, they are springy and flex more under normal micrometer force.
Thank Cyrus McCormick that ya got it working again! Also, Happy Late Thanksgiving!
Same to you! Hope you ate good!!

How did the colorful corn turn out this year?
Didn't get any in this year. The sand patch out back was vines & potatoes this time to give it some rotation. And that did poorly, due to the wet Spring. Got just enough mini potatoes to mash up for today. The good side of that is, skin-on mashed potatoes! Made them up yesterday. Boy do they taste good! Hope you have a good Turkey Day!
Hello Ikon Sees Mr No Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving Sandra!! Hope you eat good & enjoy some great company!
It seems that your turntable is missing.
With all the pieces that were found floating around in the radio, I'm surprised it stayed on in the first place.
Do you have anything on the John Deere 35 corn sheller?
Unfortunately, no. Everything that there is has been posted. Not sure that I'm going to get any, anytime soon. Got enough projects for the moment. The Gehl 16mm films are on top of the list.
My dad had two 105 combines in the '70s and we took off 2,000 acres a year with those two combines. Occasionally we would rent a third combine for the wheat harvest
Old advertising for John Deere You say Zee, we say Zed. These were very good combines. I remember them harvesting.
If you look at the sheller unit, it appears that it was in effect the first rotary combine.
Some inspiration did come from the old rotary shellers. I think John Deere was on it first, if I remember right.
@@ikonseesmrno7300 That is interesting, because I believe they were the last to actually go to a rotary combine.
@@greggergen9104 I thought the bit of Deere info came from a discussion about Axial Flow combines on the Red Power forum. Might have been on Octane Presses site. I'll poke around.

Ask Jeff Williams is the channel
What I liked about this transmission was you didn’t have to push in the clutch as long as you took off at idle without a load if you were going to have a load or rpm you should use the clutch to take off after that you just shift it very nice for the time they lasted a long time
Case just seemed to stop any further development of their combines after this. Admittedly that's why they bought up IH after they went bust in 1984, because they had a good combine design. It's still interesting to spot these old case machines sitting around. They must not have produced very many of them.
@@AJ67901 case couldve made a bigger combine, and at this time they had the biggest which was the 1660, the JD 105 had a 50 inch concave and the 1660 had a 52 inch concave.
Excellent video…👍
Thanks Bill! Have a good day!!
Love this old videos about titan series combines I really ejoyed✌️👍
Glad you enjoyed!!
Thanks Mr. No, I have a 6620 and some of the wiring for this system is long gone. I was always skeptical how well this system worked. I knew it read grain loss with those sensors, but thought it might be hard to actually pick up on a kernel bouncing out the back. Now they are saying to give it a good wack with a screwdriver to get a reading. How does that compare to a little kernel of grain? '80's tech, I guess.
I would think it's about the same surface area between the two & they're both hard. Grain would probably hit that plate with a reasonable amount of force, too. So, the screwdriver should somewhat replicate the sound of a kernel hitting the sensor.
Huge 106 horsepower! 😂

My hunger for wisdom and discovery is never ending. Although we few realized this was the foundation for what's used now. Quality is a must for me. Even if it takes a little more time. The end results speak for themselves.
@@EnergyTRE That's awesome & same here!! I'm kinda putzy, but finicky when it comes to outcome.

Hey Ikon,,pretty cool old unit. Looking forward to some small squares. What year is it?
Thanks! Not exactly sure how old it is. Using the dates in the parts catalog, it looks to be somewhere between '55 & '58. But, those parts could have been upgraded at some point. The serial tag is somewhat trashed & hasn't yielded anything other than three numbers.
