Slow Hay Making - First Cutting of 2024

- It was an extremely tall & very late first cutting this year. A very wet spring & early summer led to all this, but it came off the field better than expected (lots of down & tangled hay) with a record amount of bales. About 40 more than average & 20 more than by best on this field. And there's still a small square of hay standing. That's on an artisan spring & still a bit wet. We'll have to see what the week brings for rain. If I can find an outlet for it, I may chop it with one of the old Gehl choppers.
Stay tuned!
And enjoy!!
That stackliner is a cool machine!
Fun to operate, too!
friends of mine that farm in Switzerland had lots of rain as well and the hay crop was a bit later then usual too, one of em posted on FB an old saying "is there lots of hay in summer so there might be a long hard winter that will follow"
I could see that happening here too. We had a somewhat mild winter last year & are overdue for a tough one. Good luck to them!

Need to teach that dog to deliver lunch! Preferably sans drool! 😂😂
