The early 420s(and 430s) had different rear rims than the latter models. My grandparents (Grandfather started a John Deere dealorship in Belle Glade, FL in the early 1960s) had a JD 318 lawn tractor at their summer property first. My uncle, who took over the dealorship, later brought a 1989 420 tractor to the property and gave the 318 to his brother in law.
Family member has one of these but a 1970’s model with snowblower. He fully restored it and it works perfectly. He only uses it for snow blowing, he prefers to use a CubCadet for his actual mowing. Cause JD’s mower decks are very questionable. 🤣
I wonder if there is any other advertisement or videos like these floating around somewhere. Also, a side note - this adjustment only affects 1983 - 1987 316, 318, 330, 420, and 430 tractors.
Thanks for the mower info. Deere did have slide sets for sales, but I haven't seen too many of them recently. Not sure if there were service department videos.... at least from that era.

Love those "tractors". I had a 420 with full steel Curtis cab on it.
That had to be a dream for winter jobs!

I'm not a fan of how the lawn looks after a Deere has been over it vs a Cub Cadet or Simplicity. The Deere decks are built a lot heavier though.
Eww jd.....😂 I've heard good and bad, mixed feelings on those John's. I never had much time on the tractor. Thanks for the share ikon.
They're ok. Certainly some of the more well-built tractors of that era. I'll still take a Cub Cadet.
@@ikonseesmrno7300 easier to maintenance or operate? Or both
Could throw reliability in there too
