It always feels like games that make cartoons into 3D models end up losing all the charm of the source material. Bluey, much like South Park, understands its art style is as big a part of its appeal as the characters, so it puts both at the forefront. And the crazy part is that it actually looks like a good game!
Gonna be honest, this is a perfect example of what a licesned kids game based on a young children's property should be: a quality concept that works well as a videogame for all ages to not get tired of, and a translation of what the show stands for: the importance of play. I don't even watch Bluey (I'm 18 and not necessarily looking to get into it) but my respect for what it does as an early childhood show is through the roof. This is what my young kids would be watching/playing if I had them, this is what the whole family needs. You did it again, Bluey. You did what every other "developmental show for young kids" can't get right.
@Stylz7 I totally get it, and I think a lot about the overall design of the show is what makes it so appealing. Again, don't have a reason to watch Bluey, but hey, they did a good job making something so suitable.
For me I like Bluey because it has kids acting likes actual human kids might and features am average middle class family (except they are dogs, not humans). It is because of that, that it is also very relatable to me. There are way to many animated kids shows that even when I was a kid, I found a bit odd, cringe or to educational. For example I didn't like Dora the Explorer since she couldn't actually hear what I said to her. And shows like Special Agent Oso on Disney Junior pushed learning something new and it was due to that, that I didn't care about the thing being learned even if it was something I happened to enjoy doing already. As a kid I just wanted to watch an entertaining show, not learn skills. I already spent tons of time in school doing that. I enjoyed animated kids shows like Arthur because they were entertaining and often relatable. And if an episode was trying to push a message, it wasn't done in a way that was way to obvious and required a weird plot centered around it.
@MilesCraft1 that's another aspect to Bluey's success formula, believability. I've nicknamed it the "Mark Rober" approach, where the content is still educational and doesn't hide it, but the entertainment value masks the fact there is a moral to the story. The shows that are so blatantly about just learning are the ones that are turnoffs, if you want to teach kids, you have to 'speak their language' if you know what I'm saying. I think the fact dozens of older people (older = relative to the demographic intended) are watching and enjoying the show despite being way outside of the demographic intention of young children speaks to the quality of Bluey. We need more shows like it, and less content slop like Paw Patrol where it claims to educate yet doesn't teach jack and just wants to get into your parents' wallet.
Welp, I know what I’m getting my sister for Christmas. (And in case someone asks, we’re triplets. I have a brother and a sister, and my sister REALLY loves Bluey.)
lol idk how anyone would have thought to ask, “are yall triplets?!” From your comment but you’re a good sis! Hope yall have fun! I’m thinking of getting this
It's so surreal seeing a video game for Bluey be so inspired by the game design and art direction of South Park: The Stick Of Truth, but that kind of attention to detail and not simply just being content to let a kids game about a kids show have a lackluster licenced game with no effort put into it, is the kind of thing that makes people enjoy Bluey.
Geoff doesn’t actually choose who the nominations are, a bored of 150 reviewers do. He may be the host of the show, but he has no input with any game nominations and never has.
@@mg6945 Whether the comment was a joke or not is not my point. My point is more about trying to stop people from attacking Jeff over GOTY nominations every year. This year for example, it’s specifically Xbox fanboy concubines who are attacking Geoff for Starfield not getting nominated for game of the year, even though he has Literally NO SAY AT ALL. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not blaming this person for attacking Jeff directly, but it’s because of comments like theirs that people think Geoff Keighley does choose the categories nominations in the first place, because they are spreading misinformation. The more people like myself that point this out, the quicker more people will realise and stop it.
Im in love with this! The only thing that's missing here is the 12 fps filter lol. That's what helps the animations pop. Unless you make your game lag, this is as best as we can gett lol.
Can't wait to see what dark lore this colourful game has underneath the surface, my guess is that Bandit stuffed kids inside these toys then hid them underground.
The game has some serious bugs. For example if you collect stickers and open a new hat, the game just crashes-freezes. Also when you want to play balloon, one of the players sticks and cannot move. Please fix it so that we can continue enjoying the game with my daughter. 😊
As a huge Bluey fan, I played this the instant it came out, and I say do not waste your money on this game. Even the biggest Bluey fans will be disappointed by its glitchy overly simple gameplay and short, uninteresting storyline. It's probably a fun game for kids, but even so, absolutely not worth 40-dollar bucks!
The family was excited for this game and we played it….then beat the entire thing collecting every single item in 2 hours and that was taking our time with it. Even my kids said “that’s it?”. I told them they can pretend and reenact episodes. I’m happy they made a bluey game but I gotta say it shouldn’t be that price point. I would say maybe $20 instead.
I really hope the actual game has at least some text-based elements! Kids that are watching Bluey but old enough to play video games are also in an an age group that really benefit from exposure to reading, especially if it's voiced entertainment that can help bridge the gap for non-readers or reluctant readers. On the other hand, any co-op game playable by small children while not boring for adults is great innovation.
Can't wait for the insane bluey speedruns. Muffin% is going to be absolutely game breaking.

This year has been truly the greatest year of games since 2017
There’s just something infectiously charming about Bluey.
It’s definitely a lot more genuine with how it does everything compared to preschool shows nowadays.
Absolutely
I can’t believe so many games released today and this was one of them.
